Here's a guitar playthrough of Emperor's 'The Loss And Curse Of Reverence' by Ihsahn using his Aristides 060 and 020 guitars.
Some words from Ihsahn:
'In 2017 we have the privilege of celebrating the 20th anniversary of Emperor’s second album; Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk. To mark the occasion we’re currently rehearsing to perform this album in its entirety on some of Europe’s biggest rock festivals this summer. Given these circumstances, I thought it was a great opportunity to present the first single and video track from that album; “The loss and curse of reverence” in the slightly more contemporary format of a playthrough video! Big thanks to Aristides Instruments for making this possible!'
Technical info:
Guitar: 060/020 - Blackstar S1 100 6L6 - RME Babyface - Cubase.
Camera: Black Magic Pocket camera with Metabones speedbooster Nikon to MFT adapter.
lenses: Sigma 18-35mm F1.8 and a Nikon 50mm AIS F1.4
IHSAHN uses Blackstar Amps and Jim Dunlop Guitar Products
Video/Production by David Hazeleger

@@ItsNotaTuhmah But I think that he lacked a lot of theoretical understanding at the time when he was composing all this, and composed it "naturally" so to speak. I seem to remember him talking about "Towards the pantheon", that Pytten said in the studio that the intro was disharmonic af, and that Ihsahn had then said that he wasn't aware, that it just "sounded cool", etc.

@@hermanessences This track features some more thoughtful writing. The melodic interlude with the solo guitar and the variation of the harmonic minor scale shows it.

This song was not written by solely by him, it really bothers me how much Samoth's contributions to Emperor just gets forgotten by people. Especially considering how he wrote one of their best stuff (The Wanderer.)
