Hey legend, My dad loved your stuff and I sometimes even watch despite not playing warhammer anymore, He passed today and all I can think is that hes pissed he missed your stream. Thank you for doing what you do, even though you probably just think its dumb videos online or even a business or money maker, thank you for entertaining my dad.

This somewhat reminds me of a recent Vlad campaign of my own. I did wipe out Templhof but after that I ended up fighting Drycha and the nearby greenskins. Ended up friendly with karak kadrin and a bunch of empire factions. Decided to lean into it and eventually ended up in a military alliance with several order factions, dwarves and brettonia and had most of the empire vassalized. Was a nice change of pace.

I always go for Rightful Emperor and Good Guy Vlad. The real challenge is getting that first trade and non aggro pact with Karl. You need Lahmian bloodline, piledrive Templehof into the ground then go at Drycha and wipe her, then send your discounted agents to go annoy Festus while you fight the orcs in the mountains, which should get you decent relations with dwarfs and possibly allow you to vassalize zhufbar and have cannons/helicopters.

I've been running a Mannfred campaign recently, up to turn 80 now and I've made sure to stop tech research at the start of each turn (usually I forget or just give up on it). Probably have about 50+ Student ancillaries on all characters, research rate at 800%, every tech is now 1 turn. I don't think you can do better with any other race. The Necromancer hero spam is key.

After seeing the Maths for all combinations of US powerball, it has to be over 1.4B to make money as US Lotto is taxed at state and income thresholds, It costs 600 Mil+ to buy all combinations and to take payout option at 1Bil you get 550 Mil then minus 37-47% to tax you loose a lot of money.

Usually Zhufbar declares war at an inopportune moment and becomes a real pain in the butt, especially if they start recruiting gyrocopters en masse while we're still stuck with infantry spam, so taking them out early is a pretty neat idea.

CA have a long history of turning a dlc into a full game. They first did it with Napoleon. Was supposed to be the expansion for empire which was going to be the full multiplayer release for empire. Instead they left the multiplayer in beta mode, and released napoleon as a stand alone game at full price. That was the start of the decline from CA towards the customer base.

I seem to remember there being rumours total war was going to be warhammer based but CA couldn’t negotiate the rights with GW at the time and had to pivot to Shogun. Total war was always meant to be a warhammer game. I remember playing shogun and thinking man this is incredible. It’s a shame this isn’t warhammer themed though. Then medieval launched and it pretty much gave us that warhammer feel so it was all good.

To clarify a bit on my question Legend answered on stream at 1:03:57. Calling zigzag movement a cheese was overreaching on my part I think. But it's hard to properly describe whole thought in 200 character limit super chat. What I meant is that I personally don't like zigzag micro because it feels gamey. If you would lead army on a battlefield, when you will tell your troops to move to certain location, you won't be telling them to move there, and there, and there every split of a second, you might tell them: "move over there and avoid being shot while doing it". And that is what I miss currently in TW - clickable action "go there and try not to get shot". Since Legend is god of micro in TW, I was kinda curious on his thoughts about it. In retrospect I guess it was obvious it's fine for him. :) I would argue that game should take into account that moving troops will try to avoid arrows on their own. And extrapolating from that argument a thought occurred that increasing this avoidance by zigzag micro is a cheese. That's why I asked about it being cheesy in my question.

Tbh, i never understood the "cheese" argument people hold against legend. In real war u use any resource available, any trick u can find to a) win, b)avoid loss (human and resources). Obviously not like in the game, but the game isn't realistic either (nor in theme or in mechanics), so u adapt to the situation. For me Legend isn't a "cheeser" but a great strategist, he does whatever needed to win at the minimum cost. Imagine u are in a real battlefield as u say, u notice ur opponent is shooting out of range, or to a target they can't take down with the ammunition they are using. Would u order your troops to attack then because isn't fair they are wasting their bullets or would you just let them waste their ammo and then charge? About giving the order to zig zag, u perfectly can order your troops to get there but not in a straight line but looking for cover, avoiding fire or engaging the enemy. The game doesnt offer that, the game offers zig zag micromanagement. U use what u have. Is just strategy.

@@tchuxferenczy8669 Interesting counter-argument. I guess TW historical heritage might be part of the reason to see cheese here and there. Since this series for many years was based on historical titles, it gathered around a lot of history fans. Fans that would like to recreate great battles from our history, get the experience of being part of it, etc. And anything that is doable in game (because of game limitations, poor AI, etc.), but is not possible in real life would be considered cheese. But I see your point. If we would drop "must recreate reality" requirement and see game as its own reality, than anything you can do to win would be as you said - great execution of strategy. Like in chess - you don't consider some moves being cheesy, you just use every legal move to win. So I think it's just two groups having different needs - clashing a bit in TW community. Historical and gaming enthusiasts.

@@bootowalny I see what u mean, but i think you are calling for realism and is the game's fault the lack of realism. Is a lot of things aren't considered even in the historical titles about real war. Against overwhelming forces is a lot of bs has being pulled off historically that u can't recreate in the game at all. Guerrilla tactics for example, is historical cheese in real life. Sieges couldn't be more unrealistic, even in the best total wars where sieges don't just suck. I don't think any total war has pulled off a realistic way of representing how supply line works (and how important really are, although in other historical titles, was better how you recruit what was available at at limit caped by populations) and how important they are in wars. Or chains of command. Or the impact on morale. I think u need to throw realism out the window when u are making conccesions to make things epic and playable. So in the war of total war the game, you use the rules you can choose. Im not such a fan of the total war series (i follow Legend becouse i was fan of warhammer and couldn't resist to get in to it when released). but always a fan of history and strategy games. And in strategy games u need to throw realism out to a point. I love crusaders king series for example. But once u conquer England and France as the empire of Alba (Scotland), reunify paganism, and kick off the Pope out the Vatican, by year 1250, can you really call for realism?

Being able to zig-zag a unit in formation doesn't make a lot of sense at all, but this is part of the arcadey nature of TWW battles. Anyone who was in marching band can tell you that you don't turn a formation on a dime, and you can't accelerate as a group efficiently either. If Total War wanted to simulate what Legend is talking about, where people do naturally try to avoid getting shot, then the spread formation from older titles makes the most sense. Once people start trying to dodge, the whole formation of that unit should lose cohesion. In fact, coming under ranged attack should cause undisciplined soldiers to lose formation and respond sluggishly to new orders - this was one of the primary advantages of the precursor javelin used by pretty much all armies in antiquity. But unit formations also don't matter in TWW battles, so it wouldn't really do anything to break a unit's cohesion. TW: Attila for example had a huge bonus to melee attack from flank and rear, especially against shielded units, so it really mattered if a single model was being attacked from the wrong angle, and this made the formation of the unit a decisive factor of its performance in combat. The infamous "spaghetti lines" for melee units were a product of this, as was the 'detachment penalty' where a unit that turned its back to the enemy was heavily damaged in short order. Several times in this video, Legend said that it made NO DIFFERENCE to flank, so there clearly isn't any bonus to attack when striking an enemy from behind in TWW. That's a bit of a shame, imo.

Thank you for the fun livestream. But to be honest, I dont understand why you are not just running around with armies consisting of 3-5 heroes and some zombies blocking the attacks and enabling the heroes and the lord to do damage. You basically only use your army for that usecase.

CA either has a future in fantasy games, or it has no future at all. I am not interested in a historical game were all factions are essentially the same.
