Pokémon Abilities come in varying forms of usefulness but sometimes it seems they liked one they created so much they decided to do it again, just under a different name! So let's take a look at each ability that shares its basis with another...

My small change to Emergency Exit: Even if the Pokémon went under half of its HP it will still attack in the turn. This would make Golisopod a bit more dangerous because you can't force it to retreat anymore!

The only problem with this video is that it's an explanation of different abilities, not identical ones. The majority of these abilities function completely differently from each other. A boost to water attacks is not the same as a boost to fire attacks. Identical is Protean and Libero, which just have different names but the identical effect.

I would argue that it should only be given to pokemon against whom dark is not very effective. I wouldn't want to stay in on a dark type move with a psychic or ghost type because it could get knocked out easily. I think the point is to switch into a dark type attack with a fighting type to punish your opponent for using that attack.

you forgot to mention the comatose ability, which is exclusive to komala, effectivly making the pokemon always asleep without the inability to act, so komala can freely use sleep talk and snore, while being immune to being poisoned, paralyzed, frozen or burned(its technicaly immune to sleep too but thats because its already asleep)

I think plus and minus should also activate if the user is on electric Terrian so it can be used in solo battles I also like my idea of flammable as an ability to attract fire type moves and instead of raising a stat, it adds the fire type to the user before damage is applied

Clear body doesn't stop every stat lowering It only stops non-self-inflicted ones So stuff like shell smash and hammer arm would still lower your stats

I’ve always thought it was strange that it was still affected by self-inflicted stat drops. Like would the Regis really be that OP if they weren’t affected by Curse or Super Power’s drops? Would Metagross with Hammer Arm’s? Literally the only Pokémon that I think could be too much at this point would be Dragapult with Draco Meteor, but the ability has been like this for 5 generations before it was introduced, so that’s a silly argument imo.

They aren't even repeat abilities. This is just an explanation of most of the abilities on the game. Extremely misleading title. An identical ability would be Mold Breaker and Turbovolt/Blaze, not just abilities that have boosting effects, becasue those are inherently different in functionality and area of focus, and thus, not identical at all.

Technician does not double the power of the move, it is a 1.5x boost. Also You forgot to mention fluffy which is like fur coat and you did not mention magearna soul heart which is like beast boost/moxie but even better. Pretty sure the intended use of justified is to use it to switch into a dark-type attack, which fits with the often protective/guardian theme of the pokemon that have it - stepping in front of a ghost or psychic-type teammate to protect them from a dark-type attacker, and then attack them back.

The same way he could call the video “identical” when many of these are not identical. Also, his excuse about there being a caveat doesn’t explain why he put in other similar (not identical) abilities with caveats but excluded this one. I think he forgot that one but didn’t want to admit it. Another difference that makes Fluffy a little different from Fur Coat is that Fur Coat reduces damage from physical attacks while Fluffy reduces it if they make physical contact, which sounds basically the same, but even some special moves like Draining Kiss make physical contact and would get the reduced damage by Fluffy but not Fur Coat, and moves like Earthquake are physical attacks and get the reduced damage from Fur Coat, but don’t cause the attacker to make physical contact and thus get no damage reduction from Fluffy. Anyway, both abilities reduce damage from mostly physical attacks (as most physical attacks do make contact and fewer special ones do), so if his video is going to mention similar abilities despite the title calling them identical abilities, you’d think it would have been included.

Cloud Nine and Air Lock don't get rid of weather, they stop the effects of them. So if it's raining, it's still gonna rain, but water moves won't get boosted until Golduck/Rayquaza are gone, and you can't re-up weather while they are on the field

Cloud Nine/Air Lock doesn't remove the weather, only the effects of weather. This can be seen in Sun/Moon because the abilities confuse the AI, which will try to set up weather that is already up because its effect is being negated by Cloud Nine.

Technically, Normalize and the other similar Abilities boost the power moves not already of that specific type by a total of 80% (1.2 x 1.5 = 1.8) when you consider that they'll almost always get a free STAB boost as well. By the way, their Normalize Ability is probably the only reason Skitty and Delcatty weren't retconned as Fairy types, although I don't know why they couldn't have been made Normal/Fairy like the Igglybuff family.
