Remember that first world means essentially "Team USA" and does not mean "fully developed" countries like many say it does. Second world is the communist world. Third world is simply the group of countries that weren't on either side and are not always "undeveloped countries in poverty."

Russia’s military is not for offense, but defense. But if it is necessary, they will use all their power to destroy their enemy. USSR in it’s peak would annihilate the whole of NATO. And now, Russia’s army ofc isn’t as big as the USSR’s, the technology is at least 30 years ahead of the USA.

@unadin45838 жыл бұрын
Andi: Although there is currently some tension between America and Russia (and China), it's definitely not like it was during the cold war. East-west relations at that time were like what you currently see in Korea. The Soviets were not as irrational as the Kim dynasty, but much like North Korea today, communist countries were extremely isolated from the west. In the sixties, Russians would actually have to smuggle Beatles records into their country. China was even more isolated. There was a definite sense that the world was split in two, with very little communication or interaction going on between the two halves.

+Whoami691 I am a big fan of the World Wars and I too understand little about the collapse, but throughout Soviet history, there were always problems. +Whoami691 If you read SUM1's post above. It was that but also the fact that most leaders after Stalin weren't really top notch. Khrushchev was probably the best out of all of them, he lead to some liberal reforms but most of his reforms failed. Brezhnev spent too much on the military to try and getting more countries to turn communist, while at the same time not adding an significant economic reforms. Then the 2 leaders after, died too soon to reform the Soviet Union.

Yo, I stop the video at 1949. The cold war OPENLY started when Communist vs democrat/capitalist war errupted in Greece in 1945. Greeco Communist with a few foreign help (at the side of USSR) vs Greeco/British/American - democrats/capitalist/extreme-right wing.

the war that erupted in Greece was part of the naughty document stalin and Churchill made before the WW2 ended stalin would not intervene in British influence at Greece while the rest of the Baltic countries would be equal of british and soviet influence
@deadpoolgr74678 жыл бұрын
Shadow Audio Yes, but the communist where taking direct order from Moskow, yet when this treaty was singed The Greco-Communist were not notified about this, because Stalin plan on this case was that they should continue fighting and incase they would win over the weekend Greek army and Limit British forces would be a win-win situation.

Many people do not realize how close the world was from having a nuclear war. It was not one, but TWO close calls.
@unadin45834 жыл бұрын
I guess the obvious one was the Cuban missile crisis. What was the other one?
@avelus59844 жыл бұрын
Much later, in 1983, the Soviet nuclear early-warning system incorrectly reported that America had launched missiles against the Soviet Union. Stanislav Petrov, a Soviet officer in charge of the system, thought that it was a false alarm and didn’t retaliate against the “missiles”. Petrov confirmed his suspicions after no missile arrived. If it had been someone else that thought it was missiles heading towards the USSR, the Soviets would have immediately retaliated against the US, who would see this as an act of war and declare war to the Soviet Union, causing the Western Block and the Eastern Block to engage in a war, likely nuclear. It all depended on a man's judgment. And thankfully, it was right.
