This is a basic tutorial on navigating the fire modes/functions on the 2012+ Empire Axe (newer boards).

Ok I work at O.F.F. Limits Paintball in Louisiana. I just started March of last year and knew nothing about paintball. I have been wanting an axe since late last year. I shot one for the first time only at targets and finally got to play with (was actually the same gun I shot targets at) one just last saturday and fell in LOVE with it! I just bought one today and it is coming with a freak kit and a redline OLED board and foregrip for a very good deal! All I know about this marker is that a lot of people love this gun and that I also do. This video (even though it may not help me with mine) is very helpful! I thank you sir for posting this.

Working for a paintball field--nice! You can't say you hate your job :D Ha! That's awesome! The Axe hands down is a machine gun--I too love this marker. You've heard the saving, "Axe + Cash", you know why that's so popular?! ...because everyone has one! Ha! Thank you for the comment, and if you have any questions, feel free to post up. Thanks again!

Helpful Video! I just purchased the Axe 2.0 and I didn't get the programming manual. This video helped me a lot but I'm still confused; how many modes does the marker have in total? Also, which mode do you believe is the best mode to get the great accuracy?
@BDTube20067 жыл бұрын
Bladi Rosario congrats on the purchase, as far as firing modes, there are 4x. Semi-automatic, PSP burst, Mil. Ramp., and full auto. Check with your local field as to the allowed mode you can play in. In most cases, rec days, you don't want to be ramping against rental/new players, so I'd recommend staying in semi auto.

Cristian Campo oh yea, the Axe is the best bang for buck, tournament ready right out of the box. It's my primary.
@cristiancampo81337 жыл бұрын
BDTube2006 hey man according to what you said about the tournament lock... my axe has both dip switches in the same position... so does that mean that is locked? Are they supposed to be in the same position for regular operation (to use it as it comes out of the box) or do they have to be one dip switch up and the other dip switch down? Or this is just for configuration mode... Sorry man im a lil bit lost here lol... im not trying to mess around with the configurations yet.... just want to have it factory settings for now :)
@BDTube20067 жыл бұрын
Cristian Campo yea, it's not like the reflex rail where you have to keep manipulating the dip switches to program (this is why I like the AXE over the Reflex Rail). You can program the AXE on the fly which is great. As long as tournament lock is off, you can program all you want with having to pull off the cover to change the dip switch.
@cristiancampo81337 жыл бұрын

@BDTube200610 жыл бұрын
The DYE Rotor can easily handle 20 bps without any issues! As far as BPS, I would suggest contacting the field that you are playing at to see what their limitations are. I'm currently playing in SEMI @ 12.5 bps. It's plenty fast- Enjoy!

when you take the axe straight out of the box say you throw a rotor and a ninja air tank on it could you go straight out and play speed ball? or do you have to adjust all the things you talked about in the video?

Absolutely, you'll be ready to play. However, many of the speedball players are ramping, so you may want to change firing modes to compensate.

I have an Empire Halo Too SE hopper, what do you recommend I put the settings on for this?
@BDTube20068 жыл бұрын
The stock settings will be fine on the AXE to handle the max speed of the Halo Too. The only issue you may have is with the Halo itself as you increase the feed rate, the pressure at which the Halo feed actually increases causing the paintballs to crack. Regardless, you shouldn't have any problems with the AXE keeping up. Hope this helps.

looking to upgrade from a g5 what should I get the 2013 reflex rail or empire axe
@BDTube200610 жыл бұрын
I own an AXE and a 2014 Proto Reflex Rail; I absolutely love the AXE. However, the Rail is a full spoolie which has an incredible, quiet shot (the Axe is quiet as well, but really doesn't matter once you start shooting anyway). In my opinion, the AXE fits perfectly in my hands. I'm 6'2" and with a 77/4500 tank, shouldering the marker feels great. The grip is comfortable and the extended fore-grip is nice... The Reflex Rail has a shorter fore-grip (Hyper3 Reg), but wasn't too bad comparing the grip from the AXE to the Reflex Rail--however, when I'm holding the Reflex Rail, it's quite lite when using my smaller tank (50/4500) to just run and gun with it. That's how easy it is to hold Reflex Rail (def. no where in size as a DM14 grip). As far as programming goes, hands-down the AXE takes it--you can program on the fly (even while in game--if needed). With the Reflex Rail, you have to pull off the grips, mess with the dip switches, program the marker, and piece everything back together. With the AXE, power it on while holding the trigger, set your modes and turn it off--DONE. On top of that you have a lot of programming options with the AXE. *Check my channel, I have programming guides for both. I used the stock AXE (12") barrel for a few months, but I prefer running with a 16" two piece instead--which makes the AXE that much more fun to play with. The UL barrel that's on the Reflex Rail is pretty nice--was getting spot on shot-on-shot which was nice; but still use the 16" on the Rail too--simply because it's easier for me to get on target with; but no issues with the barrels. Maintenance wise-- AXE again. Press of a button, remove entire bolt assembly, lube a few o-rings and pop it back in. The Reflex is easy too, but just takes a few extra steps to clean the entire assembly (removing the can, removing o-rings to completely dissemble, more o-rings, etc). They are both machine guns when it comes to shooting... With the low 3ms trigger sensitivity on the Reflex Rail, you'll have no problem shooting quickly (great trigger too) in semi-auto. Bump these guns in MILLENNIUM RAMPING, watch out! :D I mainly shoot semi, but when there are guys on the field ramping at you--it's nice with the AXE to quickly change modes on the field and rain hell... Again, that is a big plus with the AXE. Oh and far as ASAs go--the AXE flip ON/OFF is pretty nice. The airport on the Reflex Rail is small and you def. have to make sure you turn it all the way on so that it doesn't back out on yea (check out the tail end of the Reflex tutorial)--but with the AXE, the marker fully purges; not so on the Reflex, yes the gas will purge allowing you to easily remove your tank, but all the air behind the bolt is still there, meaning you will have to cycle the marker to completely degas). They are both amazing markers--but if I had a choice knowing what I know now and had to choose as a first time buyer, I'm purchasing an AXE. Good luck with your decision!

Craig Needelman the board should be running along the backside of the front grip. Are you not seeing any dip switches? Also, do you know if his marker is an older Axe? I believe in 2012, the changed boards--this Axe has a shockwave board.

I️ increased the rof to 20 bps and still nothing. It shoots 20 bps when the eyes are off but when i️ put them on it is defaulting to 8... could it be the fact that i’m using my finger and that there is no air tank on? Thanks for the quick reply btw!
@BDTube20066 жыл бұрын
James Sullivan If it's firing at 20bps now with the eyes off, then you're good to go. Having your finger in the breach to trick the eyes and trying to get the same rate of fire will be affected. There is another option called "ball in breach" that is preventing the marker to trigger the solenoid because your finger doesn't move out of the way for the marker to cycle :) Ball in breach is the amount of time the ball has to be in the breach before the next ball can be fired. If your finger is in the breach, the system never resets, therefore taking longer for the marker to cycle. So to properly test the rate of fire is to turn off the eyes (no need for your finger) :D
@bigjaeroc88955 жыл бұрын
It’s a ball in breach light. Green light blinking twice. Just curious to see if you have any recommendations

So I just got an Empire axe used from a teammate, but he lives kinda far away. My marker isn't shooting at all and it's the first time I'm having issues with it. I replaced the battery yes, and I also had verified that all the body screws were in place, as I did have issues with a loose body screw. However, now it's having issues and I think it might be a solenoid issue. Any idea how to fix that or where I could go to get it looked at and get help for cheap?

So why do you turn the eyes off? If i wanted to just do semi, would I just change it to semi and I can shoot it then? Or do I have to turn eyes off
@BDTube20066 жыл бұрын
J-Hall I turn off the eye so that I could cycle the marker. The bolt won't cycle unless there is a ball in the breach, therefore, turning off the eyes allows the marker to bypass this hold and the marker will fire.
@BDTube20066 жыл бұрын
J-Hall ...if your marker is fully setup (hopper, paint and air), yes, you don't have to shut off the eyes; simply change your firing mode and get back to shooting faces. :D

@SerratedPVP6 жыл бұрын
Hey I know that his is an old post and my knowledge may not be useful to you. But I had the same issue; the issue is it's not an issue. Just like you hypothesized there is a difference from not having air and having air. The Empire Axe's eyes are considered "dirty" when you stick your finger in the breach without air, and when the eyes are "dirty" they default to 8bps.

What do you know about trouble shooting I have an axe I used it one weekend no problems at all. I went out today played a game a or two with no issues, then randomly it stopped. I ended up making an adjustment to the asa fixed the problem it seemed for about 2 games then it stopped again.
@BDTube200610 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the late response. What exactly has stopped working? Meaning, the marker doesn't fire?
@DarthRane11310 жыл бұрын
BDTube2006 Oh no problem and yeah it stopped firing (sry I should no to be more descriptive being a maintainer haha) like I said made and adjustment to the ASA and that fixed it for about 2 games and then it stopped firing again. I checked to make sure eyes weren't covered, no issue there I made sure I could hear the clicking of the solenoid both on and off and I could hear it. Also it was registering me hitting the trigger on the light but there was no dry firing happening at all. After I got back(and after I posted my initial post here) I went online to look up some troubleshooting tips all of them mentioned pretty much what I did above. I went back out and took it apart and actually physically inspected my solenoid the wires looked good nothing pinched or loose, put it back together and still no dry firing at all. I went and tried changing firing modes I hit the on button once while it was on and it started firing again but from what I understand hitting the button shouldn't do anything. (My axe is used so I didn't have an instruction manual on firing mode adjustments so from what I have read if I am understanding correctly hitting that technically shouldn't have done anything so I have a feeling this is temporary and is very likely to happen again when I go back out and start playing.
@BDTube200610 жыл бұрын
John Dersion Sounds like you have all the signs of an operational marker; just no air supply... First thing that comes to mind is your DWELL. Go ahead and set the dwell to the factory settings (I think is 8ms)--you may want to reset everything to the factor defaults to trouble shoot; however, I would start with the dwell. I would also suggest making sure you set the marker to the factory input pressure (between 180-200 psi). I've had instances (after servicing the poppet), where I forgot I've tighten down the velocity screw all the way down (helps prevent blowing the solenoid). All lights were green, but no air supply! Then I forgot I did that; so turn off the eyes and start dry firing the system while increasing the velocity. Eventually, the system will have enough air behind the bolt to cycle it. Will do, I can't figure out if any of that will do anything until the next time I get to play unfortunately and it stops working again so I can be sure it's a setting issue.

having the firing mode on 3 round burst can you increase to bps to 17

Absolutely.

You're wrong in the beginning of this video for tournament lock. Turning it up or on like your said to do in the video it actually locks the marker. Turning it down or off will UNLOCK the marker allowing you to use the settings. From the manual, "Tournament Lock can be turned on/off by using the dip switch 1 located on the inside of the foregrip near the bottom of the circuit board. The battery door must be removed to access the switch. Flip dip switch #1 to the ON (UP when laying flat) position to activate the Tournament Lock. When tournament lock is ON, Settings Mode cannot be activated."

I use an empire z2, what bps should i use?
@BDTube20067 жыл бұрын
Light In The Dark you can set the bps to the max speed that your field allows.

I just bought myself an axe and it seems like it shoots like it did in the video right out of the box. Is this normal?
@BDTube200610 жыл бұрын
Absolutely. The Axe is very easy to shoot in semi-auto @ 12.5 bps. You will notice a significant increase in the rate-of-fire once you program the Axe in RAMPING MODE. Have fun--you're going to love this marker!

I have a halo too so what speed should the hun be on?
@BDTube20067 жыл бұрын
CODY VELASQUEZ you can keep the stock board setting at 3ms. The loader you can set the max speed, just back it down if you notice paint breaking as its the paint actually breaking as it hits the breach vs. chopping a paintball.

Just bought an axe. It has a continuous green light flashing at me. How do I program. Help asap
@BDTube20065 жыл бұрын
With the marker OFF, pull the trigger in and hold it in, then power on the axe. And release. You should now be in programming mode. If not, the tournament lock is on, youll need to turn that OFF first.

What??? At 4:50 why is 8 bps 1 blink and 10 bps 5 blinks? I'm confused.
@buckshot89066 ай бұрын
Do you need to put the switch back or no?
@BDTube20066 ай бұрын
Negative. The tournament lock is only on so that you can't quickly change your settings on the field.

Whenever I turn on my axe it blinks amber and not green anymore.. Can you help!
@BDTube200610 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your inquiry. The change in color when you are turning on your Axe is your battery status indicator--you will want to change out your battery.
@winstonmendoza53849 жыл бұрын
My eye on my axe don't turn green when every thing is saved they stay red but every option that I saved work perfect
@BDTube20069 жыл бұрын
Winston Mendoza The eyes themselves shouldn't change color--only the LED indicator on the front grip should change. However, if it's red (which is also the battery indicator color), you should change to a new battery. Hope this helps! Enjoy!

If you are referring to the first generation Axe, no, they were not equipped with the Shockwave board.
@austinmikel96837 жыл бұрын
my axe isnt very accurate how could i fix this and it does not shoot very far and how can i improve that
@BDTube20067 жыл бұрын
Austin Mikel I would suggest resetting the board to factory so you have a fresh start, making your operating pressure is between 180-200, then you can have a better idea on where to start trouble shooting its performance.

Dip Switch 1 and 2 are in the down position? If you are in programming mode, once you make your selection, there will be a slight pause and the the LED indicator will flash quickly confirming your selection. What are you experiencing after you make your selection? Are you trying to verify your selection by going back into the programming feature again?

Goto Firing Mode, press and hold the trigger for one second; after the current mode indicator, pull the trigger once and you'll be in semi.

@BDTube20068 жыл бұрын
Completely powers off? If the light is green, the batter is good. you may need to replace the board.
