I would love to do something like this myself. There are no big events like Empire where I live in the US, been thinking recently about possibly trying to plane my own if I can get enough people interested in helping and participating

There's a really good youtuber, Mo Mo O'Brien, she does larping in the US and she mentions loads of different events she does, I'm in the UK but she still helps with the basic principle of LARPing and little tips. Just something to consider :)

I'm a bit curious as to how authentic this set up is. In movies you see perfect;y formed lines doing what their meant to but here with actual people you've got tonnes of shouting, running back and forth, people in the wrong place and a mix match of people within each unit. It seems like film makers should observe these events to get an idea of what could happen.

This is mostly down to movies portraying soldiers who have discipline but you'll notice in those same films the heroes are running off doing their own thing. What we have here are whole units of heroes made up of the "elite" of the empire so for the most part discipline goes out of the window

I'm interested in getting involved with Empire, going to the first event of 2018 (go Freeborn) and was wondering, when you were being healed from the arrow what was that little piece of paper the healer had?

leon howe oh well spotted. so empire uses something called traumatic wounds. refs have cards and will give them to players which will then require extra healing and fun roleplay. I get one in another video from a drake thing as well.

its not easy for both sides in heavy armour to charge specially long distance lol. but its bloody fun when your an archer dropping people.

Yeah, but tiring and dangerous, charging leaves you very open for falnking attacks and doing it for a long distance means that parts of your unit will lag behind because they are not as fast as the rest and the charge will lose its impact since iit would not happen at once but rather overtime as more people arrives. That and charging into arrows and pikes wont end well. But it would be damned epic.

Thanks for the info Kai. I've been looking around. There is groups out there in Pen State. Google is your friend; type 'Pennsylvania LARP' However have got a list of contacts that looks good. Most are fantasy medieval (like the video), but i've got one that is a 'Wild Western' LARP. I will start in saying traveling is part of LARP. There is no getting away from that. Unless you are VERY lucky (and rare in the world) for a club to be 10 mins walk from your home. You're going to have to get on a bus/train or car. With your age you will have to take a member of your family with you. Saying that the family member don't have to play or anything if they don't want to. They just have to be there. The group you visit will at least ask they put on some basic themed fancy dress not to be be 'out of place'. However if the idea of taking part in big battles is the thing, they can help. They do a range of events from medieval feasts to tournaments. Their equipment differ; the weapons are made from wood and metal, not padded foam rubber. Instead you wear the padding to protect from the wooden weapons. They have groups all over the US. welcome.sca.org/ The closest thing to 'Empire' with large LARP battles in 'North America' (i know) is 'Bicolline'. This will mean a road trip holiday to Canada. However what is good about this place its a 'ren fare' and a LARP event in one. This means your older family member doesn't have to bother with the LARP. There will be lots of things to keep them amused, when you go off to battle. There is a vacation group that is offering an all in one package tour.
