Just started playing Empire and was greatly surprised when I saw Maratha Confederacy controlling Iceland and Norway. I conquered Iceland as that's my home country and already at war with them and then Norway defeated them as it was their last territory when Norway became a nation. It was pretty weird fighting muslim troops in the farthest north-east country of Europe.

Or maybe, one of your cavalry units might be called "The Black Horse" (name of the 7th Dragoon Guards), or "The Death or Glory Boys" (name of the 17th lancers, from the Charge of the Light Brigade). Your pikemen could be the 1st Albion Pikes.

Great videos. In 1702 Colonel George Hastings, 8th Earl of Huntingdon, was authorised to raise a new regiment, which he did in and around the city of Gloucester. As was the custom in those days the regiment was named Huntingdon's Regiment after its Colonel. As Colonel succeeded Colonel the name changed, but in 1751 regiments were given numbers, and the regiment was from that time officially known as the 33rd Regiment of Foot.

Great recording. Many thanks* - I'm the finding the India campaign more interesting than the N.American campaign for some reason. The N.Amer. area just seems like a giant forrest carpet, with the occasional native army. Also, the last of the mohicans music is now getting on my t*ts (no fault of yrs). When you fight a battle, it might be handy to click on the "+" button on your mini map. This'll help you to notice when one of your units gets into trouble, while you're focussing on another one.

In answer to your question about the 33rd Regt of Foot name. In 1782 the regiment's title was changed to the 33rd (or First Yorkshire West Riding) Regiment, thus formalising an association with the West Riding of Yorkshire which, even then, had been long established. The first Duke of Wellington died in 1852 and in the following year Queen Victoria, in recognition of the regiment's long ties to him, ordered that the regiment's title be changed to the 33rd (or The Duke of Wellington's) Regiment

btw you can actually enable grenades in this but in DM they seem even more OP because one round can literally bring a full regiment down to at least half its men. but the tradeoff for grenades is still the same as it is in vanilla, you have to get really close and lose a lot of men before you can throw the grenades. Another thing about the Dutch is in ETW DM they are MUCH more interesting than vanilla with a fleshed out unit roster and very interesting and accurate uniforms, try them somethime.

I've noticed with the Darth Mods is he really makes melee more effective than ranged. So doing more charges seems to be a better balance. Also ranged volleys at close range are much more devastating. So run up close, fire volley, charge!

In the battle outside of Williamsburg, i was shocked when it wasn't a complete disaster for the Iroquois. It was in my opinion that the British Army was unstoppable. I did not expect as many losses for the British as there was

I know this video was uploaded a month ago, but I wanted to just let you know that, while dragoons CAN engage in mounted melee combat (and they do reasonably well against artillery batteries), they are absolutely awful against everything else in melee combat. They really are quite good (and should be used) as EXTREMELY mobile flanking line infantry.. as they utilize fire by rank once you research it as well.

this was made a long time ago but i think i have a good tactic. i know you pulled out of america mostly by popular vote but also by the amount of indian forces there were, but instead of pulling out of america, i propose this. every region you capture, you will give back to the colonies for a payment of 2-3000. this money can go to buying troops, upgrading technology, and replenishing troops if needed. this will allow you to take more regions. it might not be effective enough, but it might damage them and keep the colonies alive longer for profit and trading. by the time your done with india or europe and need the troops in america, the indians will be weak.

I see why you don't trust the auto resolve sometimes because once in my Dutch DM campaign I wanted to destroy the remnants of a Prussian army I had almost annihilated on the field that had like 3 units of cav left with no more than 17 men each. I did an auto resolve and that tiny force took out over 200 of my full stack army before they died, utter bs if u ask me.

Really enjoyed the French battle mate I think it's because you had no cav. I'm a fan of keeping my cav behind my infantry until I have decided to run them to the flanks then go in. It keeps the AI from targeting them and marching towards them........and they stay in the kill zone. I say give me an army of all line and I will Swiss cheese the globe

The thing I always hate about fighting the native American tribes is the constant invisibility. The fact that you can't see then until they're right on top of you is really annoying. I would like to try using native melee then archers to support and fire over them, like medieval warfare.
