I remember when T-bo Touch used to call some establishments live on the radio while he was at Metro FM looking to acquire some products/services and they would immediately either deny him the service (by telling him that it's not available of course) or quote him a ridiculous amount. Not even 15min later he'd have his white friend call (live on the radio mind you) and the guy would be given various options of said products/services and a much lower price. I was flabberghasted when someone I know was declined by WesBank. This person is a private banking client with a different bank with a sub-prime rate on their home loan and an exceptional credit profile. No failed debit orders, no accounts in arrears. Not near full utilization on their one and only store account. Fully paid off other vehicle. Only thing I could think of is that they were being penalized for having two (not in arrears) credit cards and a second (not ever in arrears) mortage for a large solar installation. Well, that and that you should never, ever allow the F&I from the dealership or an estate agent to act as a bond originator. There is no indication that they are acting in your best interest. Tell them to get lost and speak to your bank directly - your private banker in particular, if you have one. They have much more flexibility to structure your deals, like making sure it does not have a massive "bomb payment" at the end.

It's not because that after 500 years statistics clearly shows a higher lending risk? Statistics are not racist, they're just facts. Banks must survive, how would you respond if they refused to service any client sector based on high risk? Then there would be a racial outcry. High risk is high risk, and if statistics prove that you fall into a high risk group, the bank only has two options; one, not to service that group based on statistical data, or two, to extend the service to that group at an increased cost. For eg. A resident from any area where vehicle theft is statistically proven to be higher than in another area, the bank still chooses to continue to service that group with credit, but a higher loan. As opposed to rejecting loans to that area and run the risk of being accused of racism. Because racism is not data, it is a social construct. Therefore it cannot be included as a statistic for a higher crime level in any given area. Consequently, the bank has a right to charge higher rates in any area based on crime statistical data. Also, a bank as a lending institution cannot be held responsible or liable for the crime statistics in area, be they higher or lower. To my understanding, this so called revelation about black people paying more is being misconstrued. To ignore or overrule statistics of this nature would mean that life insurance must also ignore that smokers should pay the same premium on their policies as non smokers, when medical statistics prove that smokers have a much higher chance of contracting lung cancer or hyper tension. I can't see this investigation changing anything, and while racism is clearly not a factor in this matter, it is being draw into an equation that statistical data cannot be based on. Even after a 1000 years, the statistics will be the same if the data remains constant. You yourself have also fallen into the trap of confusing data with the social construct of racism. Think again
