According to legends, Rakthbeej, a demon who was blessed with the ability to Multiply in numbers as soon as his blood touched the floor, he was causing a lot of havock, any attempts made by Gods to stop him had failed. So they went to Parvati Mata, initially it was to find Shiva ji, but he wasn't dere, so Parvati Mata came to view the situation, seeing that Rakthbeej was hurting her devotees and those she loved, she got really really angry and turned into Kali, she started killing Rakthbeej but everytime his blood dropped on the floor he multiplied. Seeing this Kali Mata decided to kill him and drink his blood before it fell on the floor. Soon she killed all Multiplications of Rakthbeej. However in doing so she lost control upon herself and started destroying everything and killing innocents. Luckily Shiva ji came dere then, and to calm her down he lied in front of Kali Mata. Kali Mata stepped on his chest and then realized it was her husband she was stepping on, realizing this she started crying realizing what she had done wasn't right and that's how she turned back into Parvati Mata.
