Fabulous job Gav! WRT the bases; 1. They are great mini dioramas in their own right. 2. You can never please everyone - ref green fields etc - so it's not worth trying. 3. The barbed wire is only too thick /if you know it's supposed to be barbed wire/. I didn't and just assumed it to be a piece of pipe as I think many others will. In short I think the only relevant question is, is it realistic, and IMHO it is :) (Incidentally I think of this as depicting urban warfare fighting through a town previously bombarded by artillery or bombs, hence the rubble. The glass shards look like smashed windows.)

I've been admiring/commenting upon these as you've taken us viewers from bare-metal to painted and now fully finished. Seeing the finished/based versions in 'squad' or 'unit' I have to say I think you've surpassed yourself here. The bases in particular suggest EXACTLY the 'bombed out' terrain of NW Europe in the wake of Bomber Command/USAAF raids upon towns and cities. The fact you've chosen such 'muted' darker colours (greys/blues/burnt browns) for the bases suggests this damage and devastation, as well as offering a contrast to the 'brighter' greens/khakis/camos of the Late War British/Commonwealth kit. (The eye is drawn upward from the bases and we focus on the minis themselves. ) Saying that, the level of detail on the bases; damaged brickwork, concrete, metalwork, broken glass etc. offers a REAL MODELLER'S SENSE of place and purpose. (Superlative work all around...) As you've mentioned yourself, the sculpts themselves are 'spot on' in terms of 'look' and 'character', and here you've painted and based the minis to EASILY MATCH AND COMPLIMENT the subject and the level of detail. (You've absolutely captured the 'look' of the 'End Of The War' British Fighting Infantryman.) A huge fan of your Viet Nam stuff, (a period you know I'm a 'fan' of!!!) I think you may POSSIBLY/PROBABLY have gone one better with this little lot. These figures are 'Top End Tabletop' and will also appeal to a keen collector. Now it's NOT 'THE ANTIQUES ROADSHOW' but however... (And nobody likes to talk about The Price!!!) But I'm Irish so I don't care!!! INDIVIDUALLY, (given the detail, the time, the research, the hours, the cost, the materials, paints, varnishes etc...) these are worth EASILY £12/£15 PER FIGURE... (The 'bare metal' figures already cost £2 + Postage each unpainted...) HOWEVER, as a unit/squad of Ten Minis, (including command, rifles, LMG team) I'd SUGGEST that they'll 'sell better' as a complete unit... (They also 'look better' in a group... To a gamer or collector...) I'd price these on-line at £120 + postage, (buyer pays the postage) for the entire squad. (That's a MORE than fair price for work of this quality. I'd CERTAINLY not let them go for anything less...) To a PARTICULAR COLLECTOR they'd be worth more, up to £200 quid (and those collectors exist...) but For The Moment I gather you're looking for 'quick sales' to fund other projects and attract further commissioned work. (These will do very well for you...) IN CONCLUSION, (I know, I waffle more than the 'OP'!!!) I've won, (and judged) several International Competions (28mm is/was my thing...) and IF THIS UNIT came to a competition table I was looking at it's IMMEDIATELY A CONTENDER!!! (It has a 'realism', a 'grittiness' and a quailty that suggests the artist really knows the subject...) Well done on these. Brilliant work. xx SF
