Ruyi was a good soul…. And everybody hated her for no good reason… She was the kindest and most beautiful concubine that I believe…ever lived during this period, well at least the person acting her part is indeed beautiful

It's actually weird to me that the Emperor could send Ruyi to the Cold Palace after this incident. He says to her, "I thought if I favored you less, they would stop coming after you." This isn't an unreasonable line of thinking at first. Then he sees that Noble Consort is not above torturing Hailan nearly to total humiliation and frostbite, and he sees that the Empress is not above turning a blind eye and allowing these things to happen. And then, when he *knows for a fact* that Ruyi is being framed, he sends her to the Cold Palace, where she will not be favored, and she is isolated from the rest of the harem. Where *no one will care about what happens to her*. How can Qianlong see that Ruyi is being compromised and still send her into a situation where people can harm her? How did the Emperor not realize that putting her in the Cold Palace was a *terrible idea*??

I have watched these videos multiple times. I never get tired of them even though the ending is so sad with Ruyi dying. The story is so good. I wish the book they based this story upon would be translated into English.

If the empress would have just calmed the F down and not listen to her maids/mothers paranoia then she would have thrived as the center palace. Ruyi just wanted the emperor's love not the central palace

@@juliaalexander5788 You are right on about that. The maids and the Eunuchs did love to keep things stirred up with their advice and gossip. Sometimes it was hard to tell who was controlling who.

@joiionni2186 i think it was suggested in the book; in the series the empresses mother was suggesting to Suilian she would have to do things for the empress to help secure her position but not tell her she is doing them. Then when jia was dying she was telling Ruyi the other concubines died in her stead....
