What a civilized crowd. Not a peep. Denmark! Wish I had been born Danish. Is it just me or do the Danes simply leave people alone. They don’t seem to screw with anyone and still remain a bastion of culture, art. And freedom. We Americans could learn a thing or two if we shut-up and observe which we never seem to manage.

I was only 12 yrs old. I loved this song! It was among the first 45s I ever bought with my allowance. I listened to those old songs over and over again in my bedroom in the basement. I inherited that bedroom from my older sister who had gone off to university. It was a huge honor to be "promoted" to the basement where I had my own half-bath and was pretty much all alone in a beautifully decorated cocoon! Just listening to the best music this world had ever heard...💖 OH, and "old gals" rule right next to the "old guys"!! Age is a myth made up by the young. Age is only determined by the mind of the individual...🌟💫💛 Be blessed, Uncle Jack!🌹

This came out back in 1967 and I would be 11 or 12, but vaguely remember this as background music playing on radios and jukeboxes! Then, one rainy day in 1986 I came across a tatty Procol Harum single, an original from 1967...A Whiter Shade Of Pale, for an amazing 50p, which then compelled me to search for an LP...fortunately I bought another tatty original ,their debut album...followed closely by their third, A Salty Dog and the rest, they say, is history!

My dear... do not be ashamed of your feelings or tears, I cry with you! ...in my opinion there are ONLY a few songs of this genre from that time - but they are classics. For one "A Whiter Shade of Pale", "Nights in White Satin", "Stairway To Heaven", Child in Time". Well, and Gary Brooker is one of the best from that time. AND don't say anything against this song - I fell in love with this song when I was 17/18 years old, but she didn't want to know anything about me. This song accompanied my heartbreak... Today I am 70 years old, over the heartbreak away (LoL) and love this music!

This is a "classical" interpretation of a hugely popular rock song from 1967. The gentleman playing the piano is Gary Brooker, the song's composer. The original recording was by Procol Harum...Gary Brooker's band. At the time, Procol Harum was somewhat popular in England, but totally unknown in America. During the summer of 1967, this song became an overnight sensation...everyone loved it! 54 years later, the love for "Whiter Shade of Pale" only continues to grow. A hauntingly beautiful melody combined with lyrics that welcome interpretation...a formula few composers achieve. The original recording/video is available here on KZbin...at nearly 3 million views, the popularity of this song continues unabated. Watch and enjoy!
@JohnSmall3143 жыл бұрын
I remember it well. It was in the charts for ages. It was everywhere. The organist at our school even played it. And this was 1967 when Sargent Pepper, Piper at the Gates of Dawn, Jimi Hendrix 'Are you experienced' and many many other top recordings came out. So the competition was pretty intense.
