Yes. The gag is Nicola is like his medicine. He could appear to be frantic and not wanting her to walk away because he was overwhelmed and felt he needed her. What's sweeter is that Nicola doesn't fight his hand chasing or let go to hug another cast member. Even when her attention is being pulled elsewhere, he has a constant dose of it whenever he wants or needs it.

He is a diagnosed ADHD /dyslexic Interestingly many good actors are Eric bana .Tom cruise , Anthony Hopkins .Orlando bloom. Ryan gosling, Tom holland jake gyallenhaal and many others Cher and Steven Spielberg. Often people who are extremely bright. Anyway it often causes anxiety especially in crowds. One of my children has dyslexia. He get overstimulated and overwhelmed in crowds even busy shopping centres. I’m thinking maybe this is what is happening with Luke. Just touching,Nicola whom he trusts, calms him. She became his support person. You’ll notice he is agitated unless she is near. So it may develop into a thing thing. But for now I believe they have a really close connection even friendship almost like family. Nicola is amazing , you see how when she notices him bouncing his knee or wringing his hands she reaches out to touch him and he immediately relaxes. The whole tour must have been torture for him. I think they have amazing chemistry, a Ross and Rachel, Sandra bullock Ryan Reynolds vibe. You can’t make that happen it’s either there or it isn’t. There is love there but it might not be the heat of the Polin match. The test will be being apart after 6 months together. They travelled with a group not just the two of them. So just wait.

What is really sweet is seeing them in Ireland. The positions kind of shifted & Luke was supporting her when she needed it. On the red carpet, Nicola was the main focus & people were singing & chanting for her. She was overwhelmed & very emotional, so while signing for fans, he always had his eyes on her. Occasionally mouthing, is she okay, etc. Then quickly goes over to hold her hand & you can see it eases her. In Galway clips she is much more emotional. You can see him getting choked up a couple of times, but he keeps it together so she can let go. He also initiated a lot of the hugs & contact, bc I think Ireland they were specifically not supposed to be as touchy-feely (it is more conservative press).
