@@Turnil321 Yeah, I think the population and transportation factors are the biggest differences between medieval plagues and the current one. Luckily hygiene and medicine improved as well, so even though we get a lot more infections, we also have a lot less deaths. Maybe we should have an infectious disease version of the waterwerken, we had a huge overhaul of public water works to protect us against once in a 1000 year storms, now we need a huge overhaul of public policies and laws that will protect us against once in a 1000 year diseases. @nils28683 жыл бұрын
@@walterclements7968 There are plenty of reasons why climate change increases the chance of pandemics. For example animals move to warmer/colder areas and come in contact with animals they wouldn’t come in contact with normally, creating opportunities for diseases. @barvdw3 жыл бұрын
@@TheSynecdoche not necessarily, there are diesel HSTs, and as long as you have enough clearance, you can send other trains over the same line, even freight trains. The HSL France is building from Montpellier to Spain is dual-purpose, both meant to send HSTs and freight to Spain. The only problem in Northern America would be that freight has very high clearance, because of double-stack container trains. You can put catenary on top of that, but pantographs would be really high. Still, it's possible. Now, I'll be honest, I'm more in favour of the proposition by Transport Action Canada to upgrade the existing infrastructure. There's nothing wrong with HS, but you need a solid base to build upon for HS to really work, unless you just want an airline on rails. The HS projects I read about in the Corridor would bypass quite a lot of towns and cities that are currently underserved by rail, gobbling up all investment money for those communities. Therefore, get those basics in order, make trips faster with a few well-chosen infrastructure projects and bypasses, up frequencies and if those can't handle the demand, than you have a case to build a HSL.

The reason people think this mutation is originating from the UK is that the British are much much better at tracking the mutations of the virus than us. I would love to see a video about the Bike freeways (Fietssnelwegen) we have in the Netherlands. They are really interesting.

Is there something in the Netherlands that we do worse than in other countries? You have been telling about so many things we do better and take for granted daily I am really interested in if you miss something / think the dutch mess something up.

This channel is ultimately about city planning, and I have a very hard time thinking of anything on that topic that is done better elsewhere.

@@NotJustBikes Thanks man! I too am an expat and find your channel exceedingly interesting. Got here in March of this year, right as covid started to become a pest. Needless to say my introduction to the city has been... tame.
