His performance moved me to tears. I can't believe that such a young boy can express such pain, wistfulness and regret with a song - he is truly angelic!

This song has nothing to do with Covid. It talks of the death of children and war. This has to be the most beautiful song I've heard. This boy sings like an angel.

Yes this annoyed me too. 2:00 This song is about people bound together by a cause and an idsal, a cause that died with all of his friends that day.

It's from "Les Misérables". "Les Misérables" is a novel by Victor Hugo and also a Musical. It has been written to raise awareness about injustices such as poverty, tyranny, oppression etc. The song from the Musical is sung by a young man, named Marius Pontmercy, who was (more or less) part of a group of young students, known as "les amis de l'ABC". These young students fought in the june uprising of 1832 for democracy and wished to end the oppression of their fellow men. All of the students die for their cause, shot and stabbed by the national guard - except Marius. Marius now is all alone, feels intense survivor's guilt and mourns his friends. This is what this song is about.

I love that they were able, with grace and tenderness, to pluck this song from its original context and so artfully extend the breadth and length of its meaning. In this performance it wears such an emotionally impactful timeliness to contemporary global events. His voice is beyond astounding. This re-imagining is heartbreakingly beautiful. I've listened and I've cried many times.

I'm listening to the haunting, angelic voice of Cormac Thompson and I can't believe that so young a person is able to express such wistfulness, sorrow and regret with a song...I must confess he moved me to tears. I do hope he continues his singing career and also makes more CDs. I found only one and to my utter regret it does not contain this song....

Empty Chairs at Empty Tables There's a grief that can't be spoken There's a pain goes on and on Empty chairs at empty tables Now my friends are dead and gone Here they talked of revolution Here it was they lit the flame Here they sang about tomorrow And tomorrow never came From the table in the corner They could see a world reborn And they rose with voices ringing And I can hear them now! The very words that they had sung Became their last communion On this lonely barricade At dawn Oh my friends, my friends forgive me That I live and you are gone There's a grief that can't be spoken There's a pain goes on and on Phantom faces at the window Phantom shadows on the floor Empty chairs at empty tables Where my friends will meet no more Oh my friends, my friends Don't ask me what your sacrifice was for Empty chairs at empty tables Where my friends will sing no more

I heard about this from your podcast..... Your voice is strong and powerful and getting better with every month. I think it would be good to go back and sing these again. This time with more voice and less piano. The sound needs to match. Therefore pounding keyboards and high voices are clashing. Again.

Brilliant technical rendition for a kid his age. My only issue is the same as any time I hear a kid do a rendition of an adult song. He doesn't have the maturity for the topic of the song. This song is about the survivor of the Two Day Revolution looking at his old meeting place and remembering the friends who died at the wall. This song is supposed to be filled with his grief for his loss, his anger for the failure, and his disappointment that his friends died for nothing. A child doesn't have the emotional experience to sell that part of the content.
