sorry for the intense breathing and background noise, can't really be helped as far as I know
With this piece, I wanted to practice making interesting harmonies and organizing the piece properly (by repeating ideas in a sensible manner rather than making new ones). Oh, and I wanted to do those things quickly, since I've been writing too slowly. Just like with "Tree," I composed this while sitting next to a piano, which I often don't actually do. I don't think I could've created the harmonies without a piano, and using the piano is also part of the reason why I insisted on playing this piece myself.
I composed this in 2 days; I wanted to compose it in 1 day but I got a little lazy. The harmonies are somewhat interesting and, by chance, a little jAzZy, although I don't think they were the kind that I wanted to practice. I changed the "tonal center" a little too much and the harmonic rhythm was basically constant still, which I want to change. I think the organization of ideas was good though. Something still irks me about it, but I can't name it. Maybe I'm just not used to it.
I want to continue doing these short "practice pieces." They could be potentially very helpful.
The name of the piece is based on an image I found of a star-infested sky with mountains on all sides. The piece was supposed to be based on it, but I think I started drifting from it. Oh well, not a big deal.
PDF for piece I guess: drive.google.c...

Interesting harmonies, particularly the use of 7ths

Measure 8 minor and then measure 10 being major was really effective. Really made that two 16ths 8th motif you have stick out. Good piece. After reading your description I think that your own critique of your piece may be just what gives it its unique character
