Fuck yeah! I was allready a bit into house without knowing too much about it at around 14 yrs old. I was also quite attracted/intrigued by the “rave and afterhour culture”. It’s only at that 2004 NYE event (2 days before my 18th birthday!), a whole night extended set from them @ Aria (Montreal, Quebec)… that “everything connected”. I just understood it all after that. What a freaking party. First time on speed and mdma (the tiny dark-orange capsule ones oh my freaking God). Had to be THE best act, best crowd and best place to start-off my time as a “dancing all night to some house music” aficionado. Yeah, house music has a long history and different interesting eras. But the 2000’s [especially mid to late] were really something else. It didn’t last that long when you think about it. You really had to be there… some deejay’s and clubs/crowds have kept the soul alive, but there’s that little something that’s never coming back/never going to be “the same as” ever again. Feels a bit sad…but it brings reassurance that there’s still some household names like Grand Master John Digweed, keeping on spinning that real-funky-dirty-sexy-progressive and soulful sound for us to rock the floor (just to name one and the most obvious to me at least). “In the beginning, there was Jack. And Jack had a groove. And from this groove came the groove of all grooves. And while one day viciously throwing down on his box, Jack boldly declared,Let there be House! And House music was born.“

These 2 mixes (cd1 & cd2) are an absolute masterclass in mixing, build-ups and most importantly Timing!! I've been spinning and producing for about 20 years.. 12-15 seriously and I would be lying if I said this set had no influence on me..more recently I've noticed how it's affected me on a subliminal level too! I went through a "deep dish" aint my thing phase...now I can say that was childish, contrarian and a too-cool for school attitude! big time respect!!
