I teach EMT and Medic in Arizona. I love this video. I really like how you have a POV camera. I would absolutely love to see all EMT and Medic level NREMT skills in this same manner. Keep up the good work.

Thank you so much for the feedback. I agreed. I was eating my GoPro and did a voiceover after haha. I was thinking the same thing about POV vids for other assessments and procedures. Cheers to being good educators.

important to note that supraglottic airway placement is considered beyond the scope of practice for the basic EMT in most states.

Weird, national registry allows for supraglottic airways for EMT-B’s, like igels, combitubes, and kings… I guess most states are the 18 that don’t require it as a prerequisite?… I’m thinking that your most likely wrong

@@MrMasonHendricksin some states is a paramedic or AEMT only skill. In others, it’s a sponsor hospital specific skill. In CT AEMTs can only insert an SGA for a patient in cardiac arrest.

Should we turn on suction once we put the tip inside the patient & suction out?
@Ca31_Buff9 ай бұрын
Hi, I’m taking the EMT class now and bound to graduate next week. I turn on the suction prior to putting the catheter in the mouth. Just do not “apply” suction until you’re pulling the nozzle out of the mouth. This is done by covering the hole on the handle to apply suction.

Why did you simulate using petroleum jelly as a lubricant? Isn’t it true that those should be avoided and to always use a water-soluble lube?
@VictorMFChan5 жыл бұрын
Brandon Baker you’re right. The petroleum is used for class. Thanks for the distinction🤙🏼

The question I had EMT do this to my dad at the hospital and the doctor asked me why is their blood in his throat. So why would there be blood?
@kennysboat4432 Жыл бұрын
Trauma (avulsed teeth, laceration, punctures, etc), or medical conditions (GI bleeding, lung damage, CHF, etc). Thats a very open question
