EmuVR Setup Tutorial 2023

Had some questions this morning about setting up EmuVR and I hadn't run through a fresh installation in years. This covers the basics but not customization or anything. This will basically teach you how to get set up to move around and play a game. I usually do this stuff in VR, so it's always weird using desktop controls, but it works and is still neat!

The biggest reason to use EmuVR is how the screens are simulated! The TVs replicate CRT scanlines and subpixels and they display the games at their native resolution, so they look quite authentic.

I went to the scanners, it showed that there was no Games, then through the scanner I went to the Games folder, it showed that the folder was empty, and then I went to the regular folder and it showed that there were games there, what should I do?

If you're facing issues with PS1 or PS2 not functioning, ensure that you've installed the BIOS files correctly. For PS1, place the BIOS file into the system folder within RetroArch, while for PS2, insert it into the PCSX2 folder. This setup should resolve any problems with their operation. Similar to ROMs, BIOS files should be your own personal dump, obtained and transferred to your PC for use. 🏴‍☠ To get your controller functioning, you'll require a third-party application like DS4 or a similar program to detect it. You may also need to access EMUVR's internal settings to ensure it recognizes your controller as the primary input.

I don’t understand where to put my bios file I have my roms set up and it tells me to put bios under system in retroarch but my PlayStation 2 just turns off I tried god of war so far I need HELP !!

Took some effort to get it working, had to use DS4Windows for a PS4 controller AND make sure Retroarch uses the right controller device, otherwise it just won't work in EmuVR. Worth the effort since the default VR controls for EmuVR for simulating gamepads are atrocious imo

I haven't used a DS4 in years at this point. I used to use a program called DS4Windows and that would try to translate the PS4 controls into Xbox controls, but you can probably just do it through Steam's controller options now.

WHERE DO I CONFIGURE CONTROLS IN EMUVR? My PS5 controller are using XBOX layout making it completley useless due to X (Cross Button on PS5) Button is B Button (Xbox Button on Xbox controller) and no matter how I change it just refuse to change in EMUVR because it forces its own shitty control layout....

I honestly don't know if you can change it. I know their wiki had a list of what the controls changed to you and you should be able to change the in game controls using the retroarch menu in the EmuVR/Retroarch folder and saving the controls in there and it should apply across all the games.

You connected the console to the tv, put the game in the console, then looked at the console and turned it on? I'm not sure what else it could be 🙁

The performance of Emuvr is questionable. I'm having a hard time getting a solid framerate (with an rtx 3070) only while i'm running a game. Lowering the Oculus render res helped quite a bit, im attempting the fsr vr mod today. Its hard to believe rendering one room and one game that can run on a calculator pushes me past my performance threshold. Another note, running your headset at 120hz does help the games feel better so you don't get constant split frames. I'm trying to get good performance and have the games on the TV look as sharp as possible, if anybody has any tips I would like to hear them

I don't know if it's still this way, but EmuVR used to slow down when rendering a lot of objects in a room, so I would make different rooms with limited games, or just have a basic room and select and delete each game one by one

@@arcadedude1987 The fsr mod helped a lot as well as making it look better, I'm able to run it 120fps now which helps the games on the screens run with a better framerate.

For me, I just have everything wired to the PC and it just works. When I use the touch controls in VR, if I pick up the controller to play games, it automatically toggles over.

I think there are copyrights because my roms won't start and my games are: mario sunshine, mario kart double dash and pokemon gold and all are not working

He could get in trouble if he told you, but there are some good websites that are very easy to find if you Google it. The ROM should be 1 download file and you can just put it in the correct folder that he showed you how to make

There was a recent update, but I don't think it was for paid patreon members only. The only thing paying gives you is a highlighted name in the discord. I'm still in there, but haven't been on discord much in a while because of my life schedule being more hectic

Litterally just boot up EmuVR in PC VR or Airlink to your PC. But boot up the EmuVR

@@marctouss1862 He didnt respond, but I can help you if you still need it. To play it on your quest, you need to have the game on your PC and have the oculus app on your PC. Open the oculus app and connect your headset through wireless or through a link cable. Once you have your headset linked to the computer and you can see your desktop on your headset, open EmuVR and you can play it
