Yep we have learnt the hard way. Never go out on a Bank Holiday. We treat BH as work days. Catching up on DIY , house cleaning etc. Then using our time to go out on Adventures when people are back to work and little uns back at school. When you are retired you can do and go where you want and when you want. My parents went shopping every Saturday even when they retired and complained about it being busy. When I suggested going mid week they thought I was from a different planet. Stuck in their ways. More fool them. 3/4 hour trying to park. Not for me. Cheers from old George

First time we’ve gone away on a bank holiday George. Is been a bit of an experiment to see if we can get away with it with such a small van and so far it’s been pretty good and only that little bit of the M25 was a problem. Oh and of course not been out to get in anywhere to see attractions.

A loverly couple, so informative and well made blogs exactly my kind of holidays not least forgetting little red camper. Sadly I am a widow and retired and would love to go off myself but because off some health issues. I lack to confidence to go on my own . Its not the driving which I love just in case I felt ill away from home or had a fall. Only 66 years old and never felt like it until I had a fall at home , In fact was thinking of getting one . I hope you have many years of travel and I will be there at home watching .

I enjoy seeing some of your everyday “domestic” lives. The clean ups, the bed set up etc. the narrow roads remind me of Ireland. Such a challenge to drive on when one is used to the steering wheel being on the side you’re used to, but if it’s the opposite let’s just say it makes the challenge quite an adventure!! But I loved it and would go back anytime. Thanks for the upload, Mary

hi Mary it’s surprising how many people do you like seeing what we do whilst we’re not travelling. an excellent tip Maxine. We love it when people share tips because whilst we might pass a few on through the channel we also learned an awful lot from our viewers which we appreciate. Another useful tip for me in this video Ken, my hubby always likes a sweet in the van but they get sticky as you said. I'm going to get a bottle to put them in or I could actually have something in the house I could use. Is it just a plastic water bottle? I got a round washing up basin for our sink as it keeps the waste water tank from filling up so much with smelly used water. We dispose of the waste water in a safe place never down a drain etc although I use non toxic washing liquid just incase. Has Carol ever come across those collapsible washing up bowls maybe she could give one a try. Looking forward to the next video I might subscribe. I've never subscribe to anyone before so I don't actually know what it means lol, I'm showing my age and lack of IT skills.
@LifeistooshortCK3 жыл бұрын
Hi Kerry. Yes its a simple water bottle. Best with a wide lid. We have only tried it with wrapped sweets but it works well. We have a collapsible washing up basket but its too big for our sink so we went for a box with a lid so it won’t splash when driving. Subscribing just means you will see more of our videos. It costs nothing. If you subscribe (and we hope you do as it helps us grow) then you will see a bell icon where you can set if you want to be notified of all our uploads. 👍

Very cool that you are heading for North Wales as one of the main reasons I can't wait for our van to be ready is to get up more hills. Also "Beccie Services" is near home so very familiar. I've noticed you don't always use the aftermarket Car Play and wondered why?
@LifeistooshortCK3 жыл бұрын
Hi Euan. We don’t get reliable GPS link when using car play so we have stopped using it. I need to get someone who knows about it to take a look. At the moment it was a waste of money. When using our phones its always rock solid but I guess Car Play uses the units GPS.

Interesting. It works fine in our Hyundai and I’m not sure if that’s got a separate GPS or using the one in the phone. My understanding is that the whole CarPlay interface is being generated by the phone so it should be the phone’s GPS. Anyway I’ve got one ordered for our NV200 so fingers crossed it works.

I can see why it’s so popular but I must admit we’ve been struggling with it.

Well got to admit I kind of like the "get of my lawn" of the passenger... lol... we just had a 3 day Memorial Day Weekend here... actually many people started heading North on Wednesday and made an even longer time out and about... I am looking forward to the North Whales content... my Aunt married my Uncle and they now live in Cardiff... she's been there so long you would not really now she's from the States... well lol regardless as I finish my rant... the video whatever you end up doing is lots of fun to consumre

Hi just wondered if you found sleeping cramped with space taken up with sink/ cooker etc?
@LifeistooshortCK3 жыл бұрын
Sleeping is fine now we are used to it. Its not cramped, its cosy but you are able to lay without touching so there is just enough room. 👍

2:45 I could charge my EV to 150 miles for that.. Also in regards to the M25 - come on it's cool to get stuck in a traffic jam in a camper :) I once cooked a full roast on the M1 when the snow hit - we loved it :) and Waze is good - but I prefer TomTom Mobile - it's good for £12 a year
@LifeistooshortCK3 жыл бұрын
Your EV is certainly cheaper to run than our diesel van. Cooking a roast dinner stuck in snow on the M1 will be a good memory to relate for years to come 😀 Currently using Tom Tom on a free trial. Very impressed so far, especially the clarity of the maps 👍

How come you dry off your dishes without rinsing them in water? I love your site (Phoenix, Arizona)

We don’t carry much water so are careful how much we use for washing up.

Do you not rinse the soapy water of your dishes after you wash them ?
@LifeistooshortCK3 жыл бұрын
Just wipe the suds off into the waste water container in the sink so as not to contaminate the hot water.

Don't think it's worth going anywhere in the UK during a bank holiday, and no foreign holidays, just now don't help, maybe an airport carpark is the place to go, well done for trying guys, take care 😎
