Because the King is from God. The people under him are subjected to his authority. That's how subjects are born. They are born out of respect my brother. What you are supposed to be asking is, why are they called subjects. Otherwise that's how it works.

A subject term is used to describe a class of individuals that are considered less human and have no rights or whatsoever. You can even go research about the term subject when used on people. There's nothing that refers to God's people.
