In my circle, whether it's my friend or family, we have strict and well defined principles of the expected behavior in order to avoid stepping on each others toes. We do step on each others toes innately, but I guarantee you this; we won't dwell on that neither will it happen again. Self respect isn't enough if you don't respect the other person. Respect is key because it doesn't pick sides on who's right and who's wrong, it just deals with finding an amicable solution. Provocative Debate? Well I don't remember engaging in any debate.
