This young lady did really well during cross examination. Yes she broke down in tears quite a few times which is understandable because it is not easy having to relive a traumatic experience. But what I loved about her is that she stuck to her story. No matter how hard this laywer tried to confuse her by asking the same question so many times , she stuck to her story. When she was asked a question, she answered the question exactly. If she didn't remember something, she was not too scared to admit that she does not remember. I also loved that she did not get wound up and angry and lose it. She stayed calm. I admire her courage so much. This can't have been easy for her. She's been through hell and now she has to relive it. She is our voice for all women out there. Hopefull this will give other young women courage speak up against sexual assault

I'm not being xenophobic or something. But not even one Nigerian is against this pastor! Say a South african comes to Nigeria and opens up a church( I doubt that would be allowed) and does the same thing, would they support him? Obviously no, they'd want justice to be served. Which pastor stays with minors in his house? Is it normal? Considering he has a wife and children. There are pictures proving it. This case doesn't need to be prolonged, this man deserves to be behind bars. Cherly is not the only victim. No one in their right mind would make such accusations. In Durban you find 10 Nigerian churches in one street, really? 2am in the morning you hear noises. If he wins this case the South African justice would have let us down.
@naletsanaele6 жыл бұрын
If they were decent people they would stand up and speak against this.They can't protect a paedophile just because he is one of their own.Last time in London those two Nigerian boys tried to behead a British soldier Lee Rigby as people watched in shock.The families stood up and got other Nigerians to stand with them and say that they were not in support of that.They can't all agree with this behavior if they want to live in other people's countries cos no one would do this in their own country.
@chiomajonathan25906 жыл бұрын
My dear, please hear me, there are so many of us who are disheartened by this as nigerians, the thing about nigerians is that we say something is good or bad not based on the nationality of the person involved. I see her as a daughter, hence, the pain is real and it would be the same if the pastor was a south African or an American.
@naletsanaele6 жыл бұрын
@@chiomajonathan2590 u have the privilege to not specify nationality cos no one is going to your country to commit crimes there.Its within reason to be shocked at the fact that someone can be brazen enough to go to a foreign country and commit such atrocities, lets not forget how Nigerians came to name a bag "Ghana must go".There are Nigerians in that court gesturing and mumbling to a point where a court official brings it to the court's attention. Rape happens in homes, schools, hospitals and there are predators in traditional churches too. i was in a traditional church where the worship leader was harassing the young women in the church. When a complaint was laid it was dismissed because the pastor was also messing with young girls. They are both still pastors

1 Corinthians 6:16 New International Version (NIV) 16 ..., “The two will become one flesh.” It goes both ways, it wouldn't be easy for her to separate herself from this guy unless if she were to be prayed for and taken through proper counselling. He's a Pastor, he was probably giving her an impression that she's serving God by doing that. There's only one person who should shoulder all the blames in this case, US, South African men. You can see the family had no order, no father to pray and protect the family. Let's have a hard look at ourselves and resolve to correct this mess.

A rapist doesn’t have to be a stranger to be legitimate; someone you never saw But if you’ve been in public with him; danced one dance Kissed him goodbye lightly with a closed mouth Pressing charges will be as hard as keeping your legs closed with five fools trying to run a train on you. These men friends of ours who smile nice and stay employed and take us out to dinner Lock the door behind you and we are left with the scars Being betrayed by men who know us and expect, like the stranger we always thought was coming, that we will submit. We must have known. Women relinquish all personal rights in the prescence of a man who could apparently be considered a rapist Especially if he has been considered a friend And is no less worthy of being beat within an inch of his life, of being publicly ridiculed and having two fists shoved up his ass than the stranger we always thought it would be Who never showed up Because it turns out the nature of rape has changed We can now meet them in circles we frequent for companionship See them at the coffee house with someone else we know We can even have them over for dinner and get raped in our own houses by invitation. 😭😭 this poem from the movie For colored girls is so relevant to this case. MaZondi qina ntombazane uzophumelela, inja leyo yomfundisi nezimpelesi zakhe bazowuthola umvuzo wabo.
