Scholar Transport | 12 pupils and driver killed in car crash

Twelve pupils and a driver have been killed in a car crash in Johannesburg. Eleven of the pupils are from Rocklands Primary School and one from Laerskool Blyvooruitsig in Carletonville. The scholar transport mini-bus was hit from behind. It then overturned and burst into flames. The vehicles were found to be roadworthy. But according to authorities the mini-bus was overloaded. Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident and a case of culpable homicide has been opened. #enca #dstv403

Every year we have these unfortunate incidents, cops do nothing, every school transport vehicle in Avoca,Newlands and Kwa Mashu is not road worthy and overloaded. The Metro cops see these vehicles but do nothing

This breaks my heart every time it happens. Parents PLEASE check your children's transport.... Cheaper rates doesn't always work out. Sometimes you are left "paying" for the rest of your lives... Not parent blaming at all just want the learners to arrive at school and get back home as safe as possible. 😢😢 My condolences to the families of these 12 learners

Exactly,nothing has been said regarding the main cause ,the bakkie was not driving itself.Overload didn't cause the accident.💔💔💔💔😭😭😭😭

There is no difference between taxi drivers and these private transport drivers that transport our children to and from school,they are forever in rushing mode and they don't care a damn where the stop to drop or pickup these children,they even gets avoid when a patrol officer approach them over and over not to park in a demarcated pedestrian area.woman,men old and young they all the damn same and the way the overloading is happening,it's just crazy.,STRANDFONTEIN,MITHCHELLS PLAIN!!!!

Deepest condolences to all families and really always saying drivers of bakkies and school transport are generally scary..As a parent and road user ld rather let bakkies pass me and l have seen school transport with blaring music and absolutely no concern for stop lights or any pedestrian it's time for children to be protected at all costs This is painful.. people passing red lights and not even stopping to let pedestrians cross nor let alone being cautious about school children. People changing lanes abruptly and some unworthy vehicles just being haywire but where are we rushing to 😢 Pedestrians have to run 😢I grew up knowing adults would help us cross the roads anywhere but l also grimace seeing noone bothering about taking a child's hand in the street or grannies ..It's shocking how we can ignore such small gestures in the time when robots are not always functioning I always wonder 😢why
