So after finding out that our Mercenary was actually doing less damage that we thought, and she STILL SHREDS, we were able to better fine tune the build and get even MORE damage out of it. Add a powerful Nova Hybrid Skil set and this build might actually win over the skeptics!

I tried to put together a 27 point FO rest Fire setup and came up short on points; only 17FM at 99. you also don't get the benefit of the -light on the infinity so light seem like the clear choice. I think I prefer the full nova variant where by 95 you can have 20 in Nova, Static, LM and also have 1 in FM, 20 in Enchant and 20 in Warmth. The merc may not hit as hard, but you hit way harder and can lean on her for any of the few light immunes you cant break. great showcase either way :D

Hey, thanks for these videos. It's always neat to see people messing with Enchant. I really want to play a melee sorc with Enchant someday, but making a supermerc makes a lot of sense. One question I kept thinking of - is it possible to just run an Amazon with all the same benefits? You would lose enchant in particular, but Exploding Arrow would work the same way unless I missed something, & you could run the same equipment between the 2 characters, basically just swapping the gear between merc & main character. You would lose teleport without an Enigma though, which is always the big problem not running Sorc. One random note - I laughed at the beginning of the video because my barb's merc just happens to be using Mist and Flickering Flame right now. Flickering Flame so she can survive Trav, and Mist because it was cheaper than the other aura bows. She just hangs out in the back normally, maybe I should turn her loose on enemies more often!

Awesome I've been thinking light on my sorc. since so many places are duel immune cold and fire, this looks like what I have been wanting ! Sadly Infinity is so hard to make Ber is so rare it sucks.

Love the build... have u tried a hydra variant?? Im thinking even 1 point hydra with ur max fire mastry u can cast some hydras for additional damage

Hydra would be fine but it really seems inferior to blaze/Fire Wall for the scenarios where you need more fire damage, and a bit too specialized as is the problem with all three pure fire options. I prefer the ability to farm multiple areas since we're benefitting from the Infinity.

Hey there! That build wrecks and looks amazing to play, you’re awesome! Quick thing, you mentionned the -%fire res on flickering flame for the merc, but I thought mercs didn’t benefit from the -%res like with the -%light res on the infinity. Am I getting this wrong?

Mercenaries benefit from the stat. The player character doesn't benefit from the stat being on their mercenary, which is the typical clarify given about infinity on a merc

Love this gameplay and gamestyle, its just amazing fun! Does the merc benefit from - % enemy fire res on your character (e.g. Phoenix shield runeword) (If yes, one could swap to Beast+Phoenix and reach the 8 ias breakpoint)

Have you tested a dream helm on the merc? An additional elemental damage type to deal with pesky fire immunes

That wouldn't really deal damage without synergies, which we can't give her.

Great video and a cool build. How much damage would you lose on the merc if you went max warmth and fire mastery and used demon limb for the level 23 enchant? That would leave enough points to max nova, static and light mastery. No idea if the tradeoff is worth it though.

I don't believe so, you end up dropping down to around 1000-2000 damage I believe on the enchant.

There's no way I'd ever put points into enchant. Demon limb forever!! I'm using Brand Demon Crossbow, Wisdom, Dragon armor, Razortail & Dracs. I maxed Fire bolt & ball to synergize the hydra on Dragon & put the rest into telekinesis; that puta absolutely destroys everything. I got an Infinity servant with me too tho & I use Peace for a minute at the beginning of the game to get an extra Valkyrie puta to help me out.

You can swap your fire gear to +lightning skills gear after you have enchanted your merc. No need for fire skillers or flickering flame after prebuff

Have you tried an enchanted frenzy merc with dual HoJ, Dragon, and a Flickering Flame? I assume he'd be slower with mobs but possibly way faster at boss killing because of the potential for -55% fire resist just from his gear. Or does stacking not work when he's using 2 of the same weapon?

That build looks like alot of fun. Do you think the infinity is a must have? I thought about making a zealot sorc with a kuko merc. Will need to see how good it can clear, cause i play on singleplayer and dont have that many items and runes yet. But i believe it will be really decent p1 to p3 even with a ton lightning dmg scs, cause i cant yet get double dream right now. I feel like there are many ways to play this enchant sorc. Like u said u can use firewall or blaze or maybe even hydra. I think frozen orb could also be an option like it is for so many hybrid builds. But your nova build is probably the best out of the enchant/caster hybrids just because of infinity. Thx for all the great guides and videos you are making. I love that u have guides for everyone (budget or endgame) and that they are so well thought through.

Keep in mind that as per the video, mercs don't get the "shoots explosive arrows" proc from Kuko, making it a trash weapon. Farm an insight bow at least and that should hold you for a while.

Out of curiosity what is the range of minus resistance on items? Does it out-range the conviction radius? And thus affect all of your static field, or just the closer monsters get hit by it?

There is no range. It applies to all damage of that type that is dealt by the character with - enemy res.

Well, I don't know about D2R, but the only time you used to get the "fires explosive arrows or bolts" effect was if the mercenary did a normal shot instead of their fire or cold arrow. Seems to have newly updated skills now? They also don't get the same outlandish damage from enchant as a sorc does, and ranged attacks suffer a penalty. Flipping the duties all ones needs is the following: razortail, demon machine, 10% ias with a knockback source and 63% cast rate. Get a fire sunder charm. It helps to have 4 different sources of cold damage from gear/charms to stack a little duration as well as 1 poison source. Use a merc with any infinity, flickering flame(fixes your fire res from sunder charm) and chains of honor for a little life leech. I'd probably choose prayer.

Since exploding arrow doesn't work on your mercenary, what if something different was done with an amazon and an act 3 merc? I don't know enough to be able to figure out how good this might be, but maybe this is an idea that was never really thought of. Using exploding arrow and a lightning act 3 merc, or maybe an ice one. That's the idea and I'd be curious how this could work. If it's a bad idea I would love to know why in as much detail as possible, or if it's already a thing, if anyone knows where I can see it broken down, I would appreciate that as well and of course, if it's a new good idea, I'd also love to read/hear about that.

The only issue is you can't get a powerful Enchant buff on an Amazon without an outside Sorceress. Other than that Ele Bowazons are already incredibly strong, if you use the Freezing Arrow skill and stack +cold damage on your gear.

Since you cant double dip on explosive arrow. How does an act 5 frenzy merc match up?

That is very incorrect. Your character adds all sources of - enemy resistance for all damage calculations. You might be thinking of when a mercenary uses the weapon and people think their character benefits from it, when they don't.

@@kellymcconnell3441 to keep it in context, the act 1 Merc deals piercing exploding damage that carries the enchant buff. The act 5 Merc only gets it on his melee attacks, which are single target and he doesn't have any synergies for the holy Fire aura so it's the base skill damage.

If your gonna skill nova with infinity on your sorc. Your gonna clear 100x faster going pure nova sorc. I know this build is enchantress with nova as a secondary. Your the merc and the actual merc is the killer. But your gonna clear so much faster going the other way with pure nova and having enchantress as secondary. Putting infinity on your self should speak for itself. Weak build 3/10.
