‘Enchanters' End Game: Book 5 of 5 of The Belgariad Series’ by David Eddings - Fantasy Book Review - Friday Fantasy Show - Episode 210.
The Bottled Imp takes an in-depth look at Book 5 of 5 of David Edding’s epic fantasy series The Belgariad. ‘Enchanters' End Game’ was first published in 1984 by Del Ray Books and the series has been hugely popular and a regular fan favourite.
Book 5 continues the story a young farm hand Garion, his Aunt Pol and a mysterious vagabond and storyteller Mister Wolf as they are mixed up in a great prophecy and the theft of the powerful Orb of Aldur that was created by a god but was stolen by another god to be used for his own corrupt will.
In Book 1 we meet our main protagonists. We learnt a little bit about them and discovered we didn’t know all there was to know. Book 2 and 3 saw our three heroes are caught up in tracking and retrieving the Orb of Aldur. Book 4, sees our heroes struggle through dangerous perils and achieve a feat that will swing the battle against evil in their favour.
‘Enchanters’ End Game’ is the final book in the series and thus begins to wrap the story. All the lose ends are being tied. Like all final acts, will it be a satisfying farewell or a damp squib?

Fair review. For me it was the last hundred pages that dragged on. I can understand that many threads needed to be tied off. I was annoyed with the main character of CeNedra for much of the story, especially when she sent the youngest son of Brand off to his death. I suppose his arc was necessary, but, it could have been done in a different way. There is a massive difference when reading the series now than when I did when the book first came out. I was more questioning of the themes than in my youth. Thank you for your review.

There people of Torak are the Angaraks, who comprise five tribes, the Murgos (soldier aristocracy,) the Nadraks (merchant townsmen,) the Thulls (laborers & sacrifices,) the Malloreans (the vast masses of far Malloria,) and the Grolims (the Priesthood of Torak, sacrificers & sorcerers.) Thomas spoilers! 1. The Mallorean is 5 books not 4 2. I never said the Mallorean is a prequel 3. The prequels are the ones written in the perspective of belgarath (2 books) and Polgara (also 2 books) where belgaraths books start from where belgarath is a child up until Garion ends up at the farm while polgaras books start from the months before she was born and about how she raised garions ancestors

Did you ever read the Mallorean, Elenium and Tamuli. All great. The second series of Garion is a little repetitive but it's incorporated into the story.

The Morindim do not leave in another dimension, its more of an extremely different culture. Thats why Belgarath and the others say that. They value dreams as if its reality and worship demons and spirits.
