I'd like to offer my translation: Enchanter, it's time to finally be reborn our circle, all the mages hold hands, they all come together. Enchanter, know, that the time has frozen. The wrath of the dragon will never be appeased. There is no point in doubting, our loyalty, we will drive the enemy far from here, without pause. Enchanter, it's time, to overcome our fears, to free ourselves from our chains, to deliver us from our troubles. Enchanter, who are you? Enchanter, who are you? Enchanter, where are you? Are you, are you, far from here? The eyes are wide open, you can sing the light. With the mages you can count, and in their charms rest.

@@morelasagna9613 Aside from his quote with Varric, Anders has just killed darkspawns, templars, bandits and a grand cleric. None of them are innocent. He is the symbol, rightly or wrongly, of the Mage rebellion. We must also remember that the real rebellion begins with the events of Dragon Age: Asunder, which concerns Wynne, not Anders. None companions are a saint. For example, Varric, the most neutral of all, indirectly created the Red Templars and allowed the return of Corypheus. This has caused more damage than the "Anders' Rebellion". I love Anders, I don’t hide it, but also Meredith. Both are quite fascinating. One experienced a traumatic episode, the other is literally possessed by spirit, who will turn a demon. At this point, Anders has no longer any control over his life, and that’s what's is tragic. Just like Meredith. I hate Elthina. She could have do something for Kirkwall but she didn't. Anders gave her six years to act. Six years. She did nothing for the Qunari, naturally, it's the sme awith the conflict between mages and templars. She still uses an former slave prison for the mages. It’s meaning a lot. Mages and templars, both suffer because of the Chantry. According to Ameridan, the circle is a deviance. Anders is not rasict. He's Andrastian. He was trained, both by Justice and the Chantry, to disapprove the blood magic. That’s why he doesn’t like Merrill, he doesn’t want to understand her. For Fenris, it is even simpler; he's his opposite. However, Anders has no problem with Velanna.

@@morelasagna9613 "And that he himself believes he is wrong as well afterwards. He asks to die because Vengeance demands justice for the innocents killed in the blast and afterwards, and drives him into insanity when even more innocents died in the war." And that why I love him. To me, he deserves to be heal and have a redemption. In general, I don't kill any of my compagnions, just because a characters is more interesting alive than death. How it will evolve, for example. Anders is more excusable for me, because he’s no longer putting on himself. I don’t think Anders is that controversial just for blowing up a Chantrie. Because, like I said, the war isn’t about him, it’s about Fiona. I tink is more this personnality. No, because, we worse than him. Zevran is an assassin who kill many people, and the wowan he love. Because of Isabela, Kirkwall was set on fire and bloodied by the Qunari. Loghain caused a civil war. Cullen submits the total anihilation of the Ferelden's Circle. Etc. They are all gray and I love all of them. For Ella, she can die, indeed, but it remains a choice of the player. She stays alive with me. Like Cullen with the Circle. Excuse me, but you have to be an asshole to let Vengeance kill her. unless you do it on purpose.
@menajack4 жыл бұрын
@@morelasagna9613 Absolutely. I know perfectly well that Anders can be an asshole. As an example, the emotional blackmail he gives us in Act 3, which really makes me laugh. Also, when he and Fenris talk super badly to Merrill. Come on, guys, give her a break. She’s stronger than you psychologically. For Anders it is never the fault of the Magi but always that of the Templars, when it is not true. His denial really makes me laugh, whereas it would upset others. However, I always choose mages at the end of the game. For several reasons, but especially because choosing the Templars sounds incredibly false. Especially in Inquisition. Honestly in Dragon Age II there are only three characters I really hate. Hubert, Elthina and Marethari.

What does it mean “Les yeux grands ouverts, tu peux chanter la lumière”? I don't mean languagewise. “[With] The big eyes opened, you can sing [in] the light.” I mean, what does it really mean in the context of Thedas, in the events of Dragon 9? In the English version, the lyrics go like this: “As you once were blind, in the light now you can sing.” Why was the enchanter blind? Or what exactly does it mean to be blind? Maybe it's a metaphor for not seeing the world outside the walls of the Circle, locked inside as though eyes under the eyelids? “Les yeux grands ouverts”, the big eyes opened wide, as in being surprised at what they finally get to see outside? I can't find any other meaning, but I don't think it's a very reliable interpretation.
@Meilancolie9 жыл бұрын
Earthly Bird In french, "opening eyes on something" can mean realising something ; as "tu peux chanter la lumière" I always though that it was meant for the religion (though I can be wrong) mostly because as the sentence is sing, you can't translate it as "you can sing 'in' the light" but you can also interprete it as singing the truth I guess. Anyhow I think that they did a bad job by translating the sentence like this, because it's quite obscure, even for us native french. ;)
@hosseldonfearanen47759 жыл бұрын
+Sucre Couldn't it mean "la lumière" in an illuministic sense? It's the first thing I thought.
@Meilancolie9 жыл бұрын
+Hosseldon Honestly, there isn't a right answer, it's open to interpretations, so it can mean that as well ! I went for the religion meaning mostly because of the Chant of Light ("Cantique de la Lumière" in french) but really, yours is valid as well. :)
@edwardqueen57919 жыл бұрын
I think “chanter la lumière” would perfectly fit the “chanter [le Cantique de] la Lumière” interpretation if the English version had been “the light now you can sing”, as in “the [Chant of] Light now you can sing”. However, since it goes like “*in* the light now you can sing”, I don't really think it was supposed to mean the Chant of Light at the end of the day. I actually had another view that I didn't share above. You know how some tavern songs are homages to characters? I think Enchanter is for Vivienne. But everything else I thought from that point on was based on my own game choices revolving her, the mages, and my own Inquisitor who's also a mage - albeit a libertarian, totally opposed to her loyalist bias. So I can't really come out and say “hey everybody, I think this song is about Vivienne struggling to come to terms with the realization that libertarian mages *can* be such good influences on people and even end the templar-mage war; and about how she could be starting to think that maybe they're the ones who are right after all!” It would be the most awesome thing if some key lines in every song were changed to reflect the game's world state. Just imagine Empress of Fire. The original version, “Eclipsed in the eye of the empire of we orlesians” could be changed into, “So worshipped by all in the empire of we orlesians” if she remained in power. Wouldn't it be mindfucking?

it's just a guess but i think the songs were written in french first actually, that would make sense since the orlesians speak french/with a french accent. This one and Empress of Fire are, I think, better in french, but the others are better in english. That's just my opinion though ^^
