If you haven't seen these two musicians, you are deficient in your musical experiences. Two of the best musicians alive today!

Near the end Thile throws St. Anne, Fisher, and Angeline up in the air, reassembles and improvises off of the result. At least that's what thought I heard. Good lord.

I've had the amazing honor of watching these guys do this from about 15 feet away at 2 in the morning. Check out Thile and Mike Marshall also if you like this.

I hear ya! But you know what I do when I feel like that? I always think, well I am already better than Bill Monroe (FYI) Monroe is dead, so he can't play anything. But somehow the thought that I can play better than Bill Monroe is still conforting. Perhaps a bit of a morbid thought, but it helps me pick my mandolin back up and keep trying.

I, too, am better at mandolin than several dead people. The difference with me though is none of those dead people actually played mandolin. Lol

what is the name of the first song in this medley?
@ldr5402 жыл бұрын
Thile used to play so clean. He’s still great, but his style has changed a little over the years.
@monologtube2 жыл бұрын
Good observation. I hear his mandolin having more soul, nowadays.
@ldr5402 жыл бұрын
@@monologtube I think maybe he felt his younger playing was too sanitized or technically focused. I still think it was great, but I can't complain about his playing now either.

Heard him on a pod saying he sets his Loars up with a much higher action than he used to play on the Dudenbostel. He said the sacrifice in dexterity was worth it for the tone. Couldn’t agree more, but that exquisite cleanness def has its place.
