You can sense the grieving of the Holy Spirit. You can feel the conviction and internal struggle. You will be at war within yourself. Worldly sorrow will harden your heart, you become numb. The more we ignore the voice of the Holy Spirit the more hardened we become. We want to be relieved from the symptoms of sin not always the sin. We don't want to face the consequences. You receive a warning from others, People distance themselves from you, sensing you are becoming more cold hearted etc. They notice things are off..we can push away..But God can send confrontation to you, a shake up to whom we will serve. Angered by the sins of others but not the sins in your own life. Pointing out others sins to keep the attention off ourselves and own sin. Voice of warning to you. Don't harden your heart. Matt 18,17, 16..try correct amongst ourselves. If we won't repent and get it right exposure is coming. Jonah ya world is shaken. Running from the call and direction of the Lord. The Lord was destroying His means of disobedience the boat fell apart. God will disrupt, disturb your means. You won't win in the argument of compromise, our own will etc. Not my will but yours be done. He is more loving than your stubbornness. Every believer has the Holy Spirit, but does the holy Spirit have you? The influence of His presence. Please Holy Spirit direct me, lead me, guide me. Whatever increases the influence of the Holy Spirit in our lives, keeps us on trek. But when we decrease the influence of the Holy Spirit, become hard hearted, numb, stubborn, deceived,and persistenting in our sin and disobedience. It disrupts the sensitivity to the Holy Spirit. Loss of favour, struggling, off trek, pride, secrete sin, etc. True desernment comes from the correct motives. To restore, confront with truth in love etc. Not from our own ego and personal offences,Judgement, legalism, etc 1.Strong conviction 2.Warning from others 3.Your world is shaken 4.His presence begins to loose influence in your life. How to make it right? Prodigal son returns home. The attitude of the father, the son already had repented..Our father is faithful and just to forgive us our sins. My heart goes out to you completely. I know exactly how you are feeling. My son has Cerebral Palsy and is almost 31 yrs old. He's been in his a wheelchair his entire life. But God has healed him so much so that he now lives pretty much on his own. He has 2 other disabled roommates and the share a beautiful brick home. They do have an agency that helps take care of them 24/7. And even though he's still in a wheelchair he's more independent than ever. He's going on 2 1/2 yrs of living apart from me which is something I never dreamed would happen. Things aren't perfect by no means but I can see the healing and beauty that Jesus has given him. Plus he's truly happier. Prayers and standing with you for your granddaughters healing. Trusting the Lord has been the biggest comfort I've received as a momma. The power of the Holy Spirit was my ability to quit! He spoke to me "destroy your cigarettes" I broke them, threw them away, and had no urge to smoke again (years later, in backslidden times, I would smoke occasionally for seasons, but could always quit easily after that)! My will was in it though. You also must be willing to surrender that addiction to God, He gives us free will, we must be in agreement with Him and He will set us free! I will pray for you to surrender that addiction to God and be set free / quit smoking!

Pray to Him as he is our Father God and ask that He takes the addiction and habit from you as you no longer want it in your life. Ask him to replace it with things that God has for you in His will for your life. I can fully relate to your situation. I just quit at the age of 40 myself, 2 months before my 41st birthday. That was 6 months ago. I took a break from work for awhile (God showed me my fate if I chose to disregard his warnings), thus health trumped finances. I found that fasting (only water & electrolytes) through the withdrawal symptoms & prayer made the journey 10x easier. Either way, when you give yourself over to Jesus & forget trying on your own The Lord puts a calmness over your body, mind, & spirit. We are super human with God’s blessing. You’ve got this. Just think how amazing it will feel to not have some overpriced disgusting tar stick controlling your thoughts & actions. Breath deep. Exercise. Cut out the bad diet. Take your time. And anytime you feel stressed turn toward God for strength. Lord please look over “seekerofjesuschrist536” as he rids himself of addiction & toxins from nicotine & cigarettes. Lord bless them with your strength and calm their spirit as they overcome.

Let the Holy Spirit show you how to replace any parts of the habit you miss. Maybe you started to smoke so young to feel part of a group, or to imitate someone you respected who smoked, so you may feel inspired to join a group that walks or hikes or breathes deeply. Feel the joy of God as you set a good example to any children around you. You will feel such freedom, like opening all the windows in a musty house.

Doesn't want you to know that you're healed your sealed by the Holy Spirit? You're a broad Christ and if he tries to be a giant monster over you. You'd look at him like a bug that you can squash. Praise God for you teaching this! I’ve been through this twice in two different churches where people in church jumped all of the steps and went straight to ignoring me and kicking me out of church. No chance for counciling. If they’d just talked to me loved me and prayed for me I would have repented. No one but God and Jesus loved me and praise God the Holy Spirit brought me back to Him!
