KLM's 747-400 will be retired by today, March 29, 2020 and the 747-400M will be converted to -400F. The phase out of the 747 was originally scheduled for January 2021 but, due to the global outbreak of the coronavirus, KLM decided to retire them today. KLM was one of the first airlines to operate the classic 747 and was launch customer for the -400M in 1989. With the phaseout of the 747 in 2020 KLM looks back on 49 years of 747 operations. At the moment it is still unclear when the 747F will be retired.

The last 747 Ride I may have taken in my lifetime. All these 747 Retirements are really hitting home. Right from recovering from United's retirement now this. United 747 was my first plane ride ever and first love in aviation.KLM 747 was my last. Don't know how to think the day the last 747 for passenger service flys. Thank you for your tribute video. Thank you KLM For hanging on to this big beautiful bird for so many years. She is already missed.

Very nice, thank you! With a heavy heart I saw the final touchdown of KLM686 in AMS yesterday. A damn shame these magnificent elegant beauties won't grace the skies anymore. I will miss the 747, it deserved a more respectful retirement.

I was not too far away from having tears roll down my cheek. This aircraft specifically with the KLM livery has been part of my childhood. I may have not seen them as much at LAX but on KZbin around 2007-2010 I saw so many videos especially like that incredibly low landing into SXM. I hope everyone is staying safe and let's hope that no other aircraft or airline go down.

So sad to see another 2 747 casualties along with Qantas. I'm so lucky to have taken the KLM 747 back in 2010 as a kid, finding it so cool to see on the retro overhead screens that we were going at 1037KM/H. Some fantastic shots of the KLM queen here, it's a shame that that's the last we'll see of her. Anyway, stay safe, glad to see Germany tackling the virus well. :-)

Beautiful video mate. It's such a shame how this pandemic is accelerating the retirement of beautiful old aircraft such as these. I'm very sad about the Qantas retiring their 747s, because, when I was a kid, it was one of the first aircraft I ever flew on. I was impressed by the sheer size of it and it was so much for me to comprehend how this plane could carry 400+ passengers over such a long distance. It was what first got me interested in aviation, and I'll never forget it.

Hi! We use the Canon Eos R with an adapted 70-200 2.8L IS ii for most of the time. For shooting long distance we put a 2x converter in between the lens and camera to make it a 140-400. Compare it to the A380? I don't think so. The 380 never had the style and grace of the 747.
