On the one hand, you're correcting a minor grammar mistake and then trying to advise what you think is best for my channel, when I feel I've covered most bases on how to conduct yourself in a professional/kind manner (up till now, has been a success whether it's been agreement or disagreement) I made the pinned comment to address negative behaviour by simply putting a pin in it. Playing the card that some people are uneducated (your words not mine) is a pitiful/irrelevant excuse in my eyes, there's no excuse for disrespect on any level. If someone is going to be nasty, I'm not backing down, especially if it is in person (i know most of these keyboard bashers wouldn't pretend/act like this face-to-face) All I'm saying is if you have nothing nice to say/not prepared to have a decent & fair conversation don't bother starting one, end of. 17:05 - rev hang is due to emisions reductions, with a dual rotational mass flywheel (quick to spin up, slow to spin down to ensure all fuel is burnt). The computer does hold the revs for the next gear also (when going up in gear number) as a convenience feature.

I was going to suggest it's a heavy flywheel. I fitted a lightweight flywheel to my Astra VXR and remapped it and it made it very responsive. Not going to modify the ST though as it's almost perfect.

Drove the car earlier in the year, it's very solid on the road and the suspension is firm but forgiving. The highlight is that engine, it's a real ripper, I look forward to getting mine in the new year.

Just upgraded to a mk8.5 ST 3door model in race red with all options, after having my white mk7.5 ST215 for 7 years. I miss the mk7.5 a lot after driving for so long, but love everything about the 8.5 it’s been fantastic so far. The seats and the exhaust sound are definitely my favourite changes, along with the modern interior. I’ll give it another few months then go for the mountune m235 after the first service.

Those looking for a more comfortable car tend to favour the MK8, often overlooking the good aspects of the Mk7.5, but hey everyone's opinions are different (which is fine) Congrats on the purchase, Steve! Yes you're right, I've gotten confused with dash style in the pre-facelift thinking it is all digital but it just had a digital screen in the top centre You can retrofit a digital dash into a pre-facelift though 👍🏼 Thanks for watching and sharing your feedback

The reason they discontinued the 3 door is because they were struggling to get orders processed. So, by putting an end to the 3 door, as well as boundless blue colour and pan roof, as well as st2 trim, they could more easily get through the massive order list. Semi conductor issues, coved, and the war in Ukraine were also, I believe, significant contributors to the decisions ford made.

Enjoyed the review. I have a Mk. 8.5 ST-2 (3 door with performance pack). I’ve never driven a 7.5 ST but I did run a 7.5 Zetec S Black Edition, which was an absolute hoot to drive. I can only imagine what the additional performance of the ST would have brought to that car. I saw some of the comments regarding dubious mods cropping up on 7.5 STs which I thought were frankly ridiculous as that is the inevitable fate of all hot hatches as they age and become more accessible. As I said I’ve never driven a Mk. 7.5 ST, but I definitely respect them and every time I see one it brings a smile to my face.

It was an absolute riot to drive Some of the comments on this video really should have been kept to themselves, but they have an opinion, but you have counter argued that statement beautifully like I said - Mk8s will/have mods like any other accessible car 🤣 If you ever get the opportunity to drive a ST180, do it! IM going to disagree with your opinion, years ago I had a mini Cooper sd , I decided I wanted a180 fiesta st,went for a test drive and was so disappointed in the performance. I had a test drive in the i20n and it was good ,but in the fnd I bought the new fiesta st in mean green and totally love this car,always puts a smile on my face every time I'm driving this car.

Hi James, thanks for stopping by and watching What do you actually disagree with, it's quite broad that's all As for your ownership of Cooper SD, all I can say is its a diesel so it'll always be more torquey low down compared to a stock ST180, a Stage 1 map really unlocks hidden performance all the way through the torque curve Personally, I'd say a Mk8 ST is more suited to yourself anyways as it's a more refined car especially interior seeing as you came from a Mini Cooper SD to a Mk7 ST would be a downgrade just on the interior alone 🙈 As I've said, I prefer the Mk7 to the Mk8 for different reasons compared to others Appreciate your politeness, keep smiling and hooning! 👍🏼

I had x2 test drives in the 2023 ST performance and I was impressed….. until it was time to test drive the i20N and “WOW” that was it 🤔sold. Chorley group at Blackpool were so good and now I have a 2023 White i20N…. Love it over the new ST, the i20N is just like a real race car on the road❤👌

Yeah my thoughts exactly The ST is great, but feel Ford went too overboard with handling/ride comfort which in turn spoiled the rawness/driving feel - still a great package but in comparison to the i20N, I think it wins over the Fiesta More so now, as Hyundai still have i20N in production, unless they've pulled the plug too 🙈 Thanks for watching!

I have no problem with the grill to be honest. On a whim I put a deposit down on one this year in March this year in 'Mean Green' . Here in NZ they were always an indent only vehicle, no car in the show room ( and now, no longer available I'm informed ), deposit lodged and Ford will build it. 8 months later just been told this week it's been built and awaiting shipment, should be here maybe March '23 if I'm lucky ?. 10 weeks shipping time at the wrong end of the year. I'll wait. The 120N down here is about 20% more in $. Looking fwd to seeing my little green car arrive. Thanks for the Video .

@@PocketRockets No hidden tax here in NZ. My new car landed and drive away will be 43k NZD including ORC, about 22.4k UK Sterling. The 120N they're asking 53,990 NZD before on road costs (ORC). 55k or there abouts to drive away, 27% more.. Hyundai made the call to price their car that high, not sure why and they don't have one in the showroom. Must be indent only, like mine. I think I've made the right call. My ST is the high end model ST3 . Sunroof option not available in my part of the world. Mean Green is a free option however. No extra charge. Should be here in a few months. Don't mind wating.

I’ve owned ST 7.5,8 and 8.5. The 8 and 8.5 are hugely better than the 7.5 in every way-performance, comfort, economy etc. Used them all for several years as daily drivers. Massively disappointed that Ford discontinued the ST Fiesta when they just perfected it. Cheers!

The change of seats! - had a 1995 RS1800 and for that last year they had replaced the Recaros with Ford wingbacks that were ace at the time. But that Fiesta was also ended in 1995 and was the last high performance Fiesta for 10 years till the 2005 ST came in. Wonder if its a contract thing with the suppliers.

I own a 3 door mean green with every extra including the pan roof. I was the last ford customer to be able to order a 3 door in april 22 . I ordered it on the Friday and ford closed the order book on the Monday. Ive never seen another with my specs. Even with my family working for our local ford dealership. Im constantly been asked to sell it. Next year it will be taken off the road and stored for the pension pot ,because of its rarity.

Great detailed video I agree the price is too much for a small hot hatch, you forgot about the Abarth 595? Manual, 180hp and light, brimming with character. Must say the Hyundai looks promising 👍🏻👍🏻

unfortunate for 5 doors, that is a matter of perspective. the focus weights more, and i need to put kids in the back. My car a blood red MK8.5 lives up to the performance of the new gr86 and an ND RF MX5 on harsh swiss broads, something the st focus can do, but not a well with cars in this weight category. so i would say its not unfortunate. not if you need to deal with kids and have fun

I think if you have kids you can still live with the Fiesta, of course will be harder over a Focus but the Focus is evidently a much bigger car but the price point between them stand out not just the value but the affordability/running so for people who have small pockets, a Focus is more out of reach An important point most people forget is that money doesn't grow on trees, and not everyone has the budget to have full practicality Thanks for watching Asid!

Thank you for the kind words, appreciate it 👍🏼 Depends on your budget, if you're planning to finance it - I'd go new as you can get deals on the car easier with competitive rates But at the same time, Mk8s on the used market are good value due to facelift release bringing prices down Shop around, use AutoTrader to find new cars usually discounted (cancelled orders or dealers forced to sell to meet sales targets) Carwow also allows you to find brand new cars from dealers across the country too Hope that helps. I have the Mk 8.5 in mean green . Great car . BUT major difference are Mk8.5 pro‘s: -All digital dashboard -more torque -absoluty better seats -new car bonus (if that matters to u) -matrix LED (insane at night) +++ CONS: -no more light in the driver and passenger seat makeup mirros -glove box has no dampers -no ambient light (previous had light kn the cupholder for example) -no folding mirrors -no heated mirrors -windows not automatic anymore (you used to click on any of the 4 window buttons and they would move automatically, now you have to hold them) -turn radius is hurrendous , its like a truck. Dunno if the prefacelift is better there Thats the things off the top of my head. Hope I can help anybody wondering whats changed in small details.

@@PocketRocketsI don’t mind the Ford badge on the front grill. What I mind though is the nice chubby look of the mk8.5 Fiesta. The headlights are a tad too high up and feels like the hood is a bit higher making the car look chubby and ”happy”.. It should be meaner looking. I get your point with the mk7 here. Although pretty much nothing else looks better on the mk7 than the mk8.5 😄 Can’t comment on the driving though, I’m a Focus guy and have driven pretty much all gens but never a Fiesta though.. Too small for me!

I am sorry to say that but: you can not get 3 door, you can not get pano roof. You will not even be able to order it right now. Fiesta is over. I waited 1 year, pano roof was canceled. Still I am very happy I got one. Really great car. 👌🏻

I said - at time of filming you can't get either a 3 door or pano roof option anymore. There was a time you could order both, I've seen facelift 3 door cars on the road, now of course more desirable. I filmed this before the news of Ford cancelling the Fiesta, this is happening Summer 2023, you can still order/buy them. Not sure what you're trying to say? Thanks for watching!

@@PocketRockets Production ends in June 23. A lot of open orders have still to be built and people are waiting (like me) for over a year. If your Ford dealer really takes a new order I wish everyone good luck. But i don’t think you will ever get it no matter how much doors you want it to have. They will tell you in June you can change your order to a Puma ST probably. But maybe they speed up production, who knows. I just don’t believe in it. Just want to warn people which get hyped by watching a (very good, really like it) video. Better get a existing car from a dealer if you like it.

Or with two adults in the front and two kids in the back ,and driven to the speed limits …..I expect some generation of the ST will become collectible ,like previous fast fords ,, especially the 3 door …version of the ST ,,,maybe ,,,

Time will tell Gary, it's hard to predict the future with appreciating vehicles - Fiesta always seems to struggle to gain value (higher production numbers) in comparison to a Focus RS Imagine all those poor folk that had old Fiestas, Escorts, Capris, etc that sent them to their deaths (by scrapyard) to change for a different car Thanks for watching and commenting!

Well balanced review, Iam lucky to have one of the last MK 8.5 3dr ST's, I agree it does lack some features that the I20N has, but I prefer the simplicity of Fords configured drive modes, it is more plug and play. Just wanted your thoughts do you think the last of the 3drs will go up in value? I wouldn't sell mine or have any intention, it's a keeper👍🔥

Glad it's come across that way, always hard to strike a balance as I know many owners watch these videos Personally value wise I don't think it will, all you'll find is the older/special Mk1, Mk2 and Mk3s will shoot through the roof like they already have been and the other special editions like ST200, Performance and ST Editions will slowly climb too All I'd say is just enjoy it everyday, as new future cars are just becoming soulless robots that promote laziness and no love for driving

It was the number of modes that put me off the i20N. I pay an engineer to make many of the decisions about how the car drives, I do not want to have to keep fiddling with it for the first few months of ownership, doing their job for them.

@@michaelsalt5464You don’t have to. If you like you can simply use the preset modes just like Ford. The thing though, you CAN choose softer damping, looser steering, less throttle response if YOU like. It’s freedom. It’s not a stab at Ford, I own a Focus ST mk4.5 myself. I would gladly have a individual mode like all Fords competitors have or have had, for those that aren’t for sale any longer. It’s actually one of the few bad points with Focus ST. The other being the too dark and gloomy interior.

When I said tried both, I said i20N was only as a passenger both on road & track so only tasted the feel for it's rawness, soundtrack and firmer ride, not so much getting to experience the engine performance But personally from seeing other journalists PoVs, I find it hard to see how they notice that much of a difference between the two cars If I had some time (a week say) to test the i20N properly, that initial impression maybe more noticeable Thanks for popping by to watch and comment Daniel 👍🏼

Nice review. It has been announced that it's the last generation of the Fiesta, so I'd assume with this facelift etc that it's also the final lot of STs. Maybe they'll release one more limited edition run right near the end but then that's it, at least under the Fiesta name. The price of these new cars though is pretty nuts! Even a 71 plate Up GTI at a dealer near me is at 17k ish when apparently list price was around 13k like 3 years ago.

Sorry but I've owned a ST3 2017 from new and spent about 4k on mountune upgrades back in 17 .. imo a mk8 and certainly 8.5 absolutely pisses all over the 7.5 in every way

@PocketRockets I'm not saying it's a rubbish car because it's totally not i agree with focused driving and the car does feel more raw definitely.. But there's no denying the newer STs are leagues above the 180s but like you said each to their own .. and what you prefer that counts 👍

Never pay list price can always find a deal most paid 25 and below on forums I paid even less than that because my st2 got cancelled and I got upgraded to ST3 for £500

True, but I'm reviewing a manufacturer owned car and quote Retail price. It's down to the consumer to shop around, I don't get paid for promoting car saving websites so not going to do it for free I already do these videos out of my own pocket as it is 🤣🙈 Thanks for watching!

I have owned 2 mk7.5's bought new one was mp215 which wasn't all that tbh...I liked both cars but as std they need alot of money thrown at them to make 250bhp good fun to drive but tiresome crashy ride on welsh b roads..I have owned a mk8 st2 with PP and other extras ride was much better diff makes a huge difference...I now have a PE mk8 m260 ive added sport button to steering wheel and digital dash for the extra guages it's in a different league to the mk7.5's people have soon forgotten the great mk7's their old hat as will the mk8's their only fiestas at the end of the day..One thing i do agree on is the price phew their daft money now mine is fully loaded i paid 23.1k for it 3 years ago with Ford discount and it's fully loaded nowadays even the mirrors won't fold for 28k....On another note i thought the review was ok but after seeing a few mk7 v mk8 comparisons from you it's coming across as my mk7 is the best and i want to tell everyone again now (yawn) sorry...

Seems to be repetition in this video regarding the Mk7 v Mk8, old hat, etc. I own one as I've made very clear (running out of ways to make it anymore) so there's an element of bias, no bad thing; I bought an Mk7 for many reasons all explained in this video & others To dumb, it down and conclude I chose an Mk7 over an Mk8, for its more analogue/driver feel - ride comfort is a trade-off, if you want an Mk8 you want a more all-rounded car (no bad thing) but takes the analogue/driver feel away in comparison to a Mk7 Funny you bring up the Mk7 v Mk8 comparison video: a. never said it was the best b. you'll actually find both myself and Aaron (Car Obsession) found it hard to conclude c. never said the Mk8 was crap/rubbish, just the quality I look for in a Hot Hatch is more present in an Mk7 And even if I was to say my Mk7 is the best - if that was my opinion on my own channel, who says I can't say that? You?

Seems like you don't like being challenged, it's so amusing how you've been allowed to speak on my platform and when I respond to it - its the generic response of "you don't like others have opinions" 🤣 You have criticised my opinions on the Mk7, so you are dismissing my opinion - in return, I have explained my reasoning behind it - that's called a constructive response You said 'I think the Mk7 is the best' but I never said that hence why I asked you that question Oh, so you are being argumentative instead of being constructive - good to know!

I do prefer the pre-facelift over the facelift - I didn't like the pre-facelift on the Mk8 when they first came out, but it grew on me as time passed Saying that, the facelift in darker colours suits the car more overall Yes ditto! Digital dash is mega 👌🏼 Thanks for stopping by and watching!

need to grow up ! 5 doors are for grown ups, mature people, children insist on 3doors and they can keep them, once you have a life, 5 doors is more practical, and looks more balanced from the side than the 3 door bread van side profile ! The new front end and big grille looks great and modern, instantly making all that came before dated and old hat. Why should I have to spend nearly £40000 on a five door Focus ST when all I want to spend is £29000 on a new five door Fiesta ST ?? Lets get over this soppy '3 doors are better' childish mentality !!

The fact you think what I'm saying about doors on a car being childish, I think you need to re-evaluate the term I've clearly made a statement on the matter within the video that we already have a more practical 5-door car in the Focus on offer Having 5 doors on a Fiesta hardly makes it any more practical The front end is a subjective topic, I don't like or hate it - in fact it's growing on me so just because you like it, we don't all have to jump on your bandwagon I've already got people in my comments that share the same opinion on the 5 door only issue Why would you spend £29,000 on a Fiesta when you could spend less on a i20N?

You are just a mk7 fanboy ! Of COURSE a 5 door fiesta is more practical than a 3 door !! you can get people and objects inthe back FAR easier. Yes you will have youngsters on the 3door side, big deal, they will grow up one day ! I dont want a sodding Hyundai because it looks pants thankyou, about as dull looking as an old Polo. plus those stupid red bits ! Dont make a video and ask for comments if you cannot handle criticism. You are negative to the car and five doors, I'm not. Ive got a 5 door Focus RS, why would I want a ST focus as well ?? why would I want to pay nearly £40000 for a ST Focus when I can have an ST fiesta which suits me fine as a daily driver !! We dont all go trackdaying and doing 0-62 tests and launches, some people just drive their car and dont give a fook that a hyundri might be a bit quicker. Grow up.

@@PocketRockets Of course the 5-door is more practical than 3-door. Ford dropped the 3-door option to reduce production costs. I'd choose the ST over the i20 any day of the week. There is virtually nothing between them in driving dynamics, but the ST is better looking both inside and out. Looks may be subjective but they are important in buying choice and I simply couldn't bear to look at the i20 every day. The ST also remains good value for money in my opinion.

@resnonverba137 This will be the last time, I'm going to speak on this matter as it hasn't been understood, ignored and twisted There is more than one meaning to practicality, yes the 5 door allows you to get in and out of the car easier but when you have a more bigger all round spacious Focus on the market taking away the 3 door Fiesta doesn't make sense even more so with the Puma on the market also I made that case clear in the video, don't have problems, the car being a 5 door, more it lacking the choice of a 3 door seeing the Fiesta was the only car in its segment that offered a choice (Polo, Clio and others all 5 door only) Inflation is the cause of this, smaller cars in general aren't viable to manufacturers as "profit" margins are small to them One thing I will agree with you is the looks, yes i20N isn't the best looking at some angles but people also criticise the FK8 Type R on looks and that is in my opinion the best Hot Hatch of this generation

Sorry but your 7.5 is old hat now. I had one for years and very happy to upgrade to the 8.5. 8.5 doesn’t have an engine that sounds like a tractor, an antique interior with a laughably poor stereo that no one understands how to use. Also I’m glad to upgrade from the mk7 and escape the chav culture of all the ugly modded cars that boy racers have ruined with stupid stickers and bolt on mods

Just Evolution and old age I think, Mk8 is great but won't better the Mk7 for displacement, looks and handling despite the bone crushing ride Don't be too glad, seen some pretty awful Mk8s in my time but these days people can't afford a VW Up let alone a Fiesta so might just be in luck

@@PocketRockets no, I’m simply describing the typical path of mk7 STs. Mine was purchased new from a main dealer. The second hand market is like the Wild West. Full of HPI cars, stolen cars and cars shoddily put back to standard hiding who knows what sort engine problems. It was the stigma of MK7 ST ownership I could no longer accept.
