I am a retired pet groomer and I have a suggestion if possible! Try to brush Tommy IF he will let you. I let my cats go until I finally had to shave them because they matted. Luckly Tommy is a short haired cat and not long like mine. But he may be too old to continue grooming himself. And I can tell you taking them to a groomer IS expensive these days. When mats get too tight they can cause all kinds of skin problems. I use what is called a slicker brush and a greyhound comb. The comb has two different size spaced teeth. Wide to remove the heavier parts and fine as a finishing touch. His may come out easily if it bolted and became loose. It will get him ready for colder weather! Again thank you for another beautiful tour of your garden. So peaceful!

Oh my goodness I sincerely appreciate all this information. That totally makes sense. Maybe Tommy is getting too old to groom himself. All of your tips and advice is appreciated and extremely helpful. Yes Tommy does. Let me groom him. I will have to do that more often. And again, I appreciate you taking the time to visit and comment.🥰❤️👍Liz

Good Early morning Miss Liz the array of flowers are such a nice bounty of color in your secret garden. The fountain garden is delightful with the painted doors such a great backdrop to cover the block wall. I liked the previous video on the solar lights around the heart nice look. Tommy sure looks a lot better than a few weeks ago you can see he's gained weight. Good boy, "Organey Baby" I know I had a hard time with the heat this year as well. I used to sunbathe back in the days when a golden tan was in vogue. I have several horseshoes placed all over my gardens hung on buildings very fond of the lucky horseshoe. I noticed all your horseshoes by your planter boxes, and in videos before and forgot to mention them. In folklore, hanging or placing a horseshoe upside down is believed to be bad luck because it causes good luck to fall out. Pointing the ends up right act as a container to store the good luck, hanging it over a door warns off the devil. Horseshoes, being a crescent shape said to be associated with moon goddesses in Chaldean's culture. It has seven holes which is lucky because it frequently appears in nature and being made of iron is thought to have mystical powers. In superstition, the ends pointing down simply means good luck is able to flow out and surround the area. There's so much lore surrounding the horseshoe I think that either way you hang or place the horseshoe, luck is captured or flows freely. It's all up to the personal preference of the owner of the lucky horseshoe. Beautiful video enjoyed with my morning cuppa until next time have a blessed day.

Well hello there KellyKiley and THANK YOU for such a heartfelt and informative comment!!! I have heard something about the horseshoes but not as much detailed information as you shared! Wow. . . .that is such fun and interesting information!!! Oh my goodness. . . I remember those days too when I would rub cooking oil all over just to get a tan. It became so addicting and I was obsessed. I am so much happier now that I have gained the confidence to be pale skinned. The countless hours I wasted in a day laying beneath that sun was so damaging and such a waste! So funny that you mentioned that and brought up that memory. OK now here is something FUNNY about my biggest horseshoes. I was at a yard sale when I saw them. I said to the lady, "Wow those are BIG horseshoes they must have came off a huge horse." She just laughed. . . because when I got home my husband told me those are not real horse shoes. . . they are made for the horseshoe toss game. What a dummy I was buying those thinking they came off a horse.. . . they are not even real. Oh well. . . LOL They are still fun. I appreciate you taking the time to visit me and hope you have a blessed day as well. xoxoxox Liz

@@GardenHappy That's a funny story with the horseshoes from the game I also have a few of them hanging around in the garden. It's all fun right? You can never have enough curios. Your garden areas are wonderful with intriguing objects of great imagination. What a blast from the past. Cooking oil but don't forget the baby oil mixed iodine. Those are truly 1970's and 80's memories. Too funny I have to agree with a lot of wasted time being a sunbathing baby. Have fun in the garden Miss Liz be sure to have a blessed Funday Sunday.

What… you mixed iodine with oil? Was that a typo? LOL
@kellykiley2 ай бұрын
@@GardenHappy No a couple of drops of iodine with baby oil it attracts the UV and also deepens the penetration of the UV rays and it's believed to darken the skin faster. making the tan last longer.

The light is beautiful this time of day. I love the cushy bench. I have been shopping for some cushions for mine. I have the seeds for passion fruit vine but never got them started. Goal for next year. Tropical milkweed is fine if you cut it back to the ground each winter, that prevents the fungus that is bad for the monarchs at bay. I read that on a butterfly site. Love your new fountain, so pretty.
@GardenHappy2 ай бұрын
Good morning Pam I bought those cushions at Dollar General. I’m gonna go back more and get some new ones because those got so faded over the summertime. Maybe I will wait till after winter when it’s done raining. Thank you for the tip about the tropical milkweed. I heard we should not grow it for a whole different reason though. Something about it attracts the wrong butterfly because that milkweed is not native. I don’t know something weird like that. I tried to grow showy milkweed, but was not able to get the seeds to germinate. And the one seed that I did get to grow did not last. Showy milkweed grows beautifully in Yosemite valley I bet you would have no problem getting that to grow since you get a good cold winter so the seeds could stratify, maybe I should put the seeds in the refrigerator and try again. Thanks for stopping by Pam. I look forward to seeing you soon.❤️🥰👍Liz

I just got my first fall mum fix. I bought several containers of the small button mums in white, yellow, pink, purple, and orange. Still plan on getting the larger size flower mum. Too early for violas and pansies. I hope you will be adding these to your garden soon.

Hey there, silverdawnintx how exciting you got new plants for your garden. It seems like mums are the only thing that the garden centers are selling right now. I do have one in my garden already that I planted in the early summer so I am very excited to see it bloom. It tripled in size and got very big so I will probably prune it back after it blooms. Thank you for taking the time to visit me. I hope you have an amazing day. Planting all your new chrysanthemums. I’m sure they will be beautiful with all the colors you picked. ❤️🥰👍Liz

Hi Liz. So glad your kitties are doing better. I am loving the cooler weather too! This summer was just too hot. I gave up on my garden and now have several plants to replace. Shame on me 🙁. Even with all the heat we have had,your garden still looks so pretty! Looking forward to seeing what fall plants you put in❤
@GardenHappy2 ай бұрын
Good morning Ginger. I don’t blame you for giving up on some things, there were times where I was so burnt out. I had to water my garden every single day and sometimes I felt like I was a slave to it. Hahaha Garden burnout is real! Don’t feel so bad. I’m sure you’ll replace your plants with something new, fun and exciting. That heat wave taught me to plant more things that can survive that kind of weather because I think next year it will be the same. So unless I move up to the mountIns ( i doubt that will happen) I’m planning to plant more agaves, yucca, and things of that nature. I think this was a learning experience for all of us, Ginger. I hope you have an amazing weekend. ❤️🥰👍Liz

As far as your tropical milkweed goes, I grow them also in the low AZ desert. Sometime in the late winter just cut it back to just under the bottom leaves. It should come back with new fresh green leaves without the parasites people say they get! I also have native milkweed and from my experience the monarch butterflies end pollinators prefer the tropical over the native! I hope to try a passion fruit Vine soon!
