The backdrop segment is a HOME RUN!!! I've used a similar technique, but I plan to utilize what was demonstrated . THANKS!

What a nice show! I love the opening intro with a runby! Very well done! The model train club was awesome! Outstanding job to George B. The backdrop is exquisite! Outstanding job, sir! The Bachmann Industries really stepped-up their position in the hobby! The Broadway Limited is just outstanding! This is top quality products! This is "The Best Hobby In The World" Till Next Time! At that layout tour I liked that swing out drop in. Those backdrop kits have shipping limitations. I can make my own then using George's techniques. I always learn good things from your videos. Thanks, Ken.

I am an artist as well as a model railroader. I must say that I liked George's way of doing a backdrop. Also liked the end of the line layout.

Another great video!! I'm a native Villa Parkian, and I have heard rumors about this layout. It's very cool to be able to see it. I also have so many questions. How in the world are there only 13 members, and what does that do to dues? This group has virtually ZERO presence online that I have found previously trying to find out about the club. Who would someone contact to set up a tour? The local NMRA division (DuPage division) actually has a special layout tours day planned in place of its next meeting Sunday, April 7th. I don't know what layouts will be toured but it would be awesome to see this one. Thank you for the great video!

If we had a layout like that I wouldn't have a home layout.

it is always interesting to see a background being painted. with rather good result. Now i am not very exited about using spray paint indoors and no mask , in an area like that you could use a combination of sponge brushes and small paint rollers. It would probably take some more time, but the template still could be used. The clouds easily could be created using some sponges . The result ; paint only on the wall and clean air. Anyway thanks for the video !

Re: Bachmann “pressurized” tank cars. Per Federal regulations and AAR rules, these are “pressure” tank cars - no “ize”. Also, that item on top is a “protective housing”, not an expansion dome, as on the non-pressure (a/k/a general service) tank cars.

That is indeed a huge layout. I'm excited for when they're able to get operations involved, otherwise you're just running trains around and making a diorama, which is still fun, but I'm excited to see what they could do and what it would look like mostly. Also, the spray paint background was pretty cool. I'll bet you could just cut some of those templates yourself from poster or especially matboard. I'll agree that a mask would be good, but honestly, it'd need to have a filter in order to make any difference, and this looks like this would only be done for less than 10 minutes total at a time, and that little bit doesn't seem terrible. Go do something else while it dries....like for the next 5 days.

what is the point of masking the raw wall under the backdrop? seems like a waste of tape on someplace that won't be seen. (Steve G. not Devin)

When I shot this about 6 months ago, I found some online. When I looked after seeing this, I cannot find them myself anymore. Sorry.. but they can be easy to make with any posterboard. I hope this helps!

Gosh, it's like scissors and posterboard don't exist anymore. Or the links MRH posted, or probably dozens of other non-model railroad related stencils.
