So nice to hear the 2 of you talking about your lives, the dogs, the farm, the sheep. Sean, I admire & applaud that you want to engage in sustainable farming, where the land & the animals are respected. I think it is so funny that Sean likes rats & Stacey likes vultures; I like both of those animals, too, I'd have rats as pets but they live such a short time I get too sad when they die. I love watching the turkey vultures soar overhead here where I live; & I am kind of obsessed with vultures for Hallowe'en ( I DIY'ed 3 vultures out of plastic flamingos!). I guess if you like animals, you like them all (mostly). I think one of the reasons your channel has done so well is that the 2 of you are such nice natural people, you don't seem to be putting on an act for the camera. And of course the dogs are awesome too. May you have a VERY happy New Year!

Sean, your idea of sustainable farming is great and I hope that you will be able to realize that opportunity one day. You’re young enuf to learn more, save more, research more. There is an expression "Salt of the earth." It describes honest, reasonable, hardworking, and not prideful people. Examples of decency and humility. Our world seems to be lacking in these qualities and the Internet and social media is proof that society has devolved into narcissistic and vapid "celebrities." Your channel is such a refreshing alternative, providing hope and joy. We need more young people from your generation to show others about authentic living. Peace and fair weather to you! - from an old timer fan. 😊

Happy New Year to two of my favorite KZbinrs! (And the pups...) Thank you for all that you share with us! My family originated from Scotland so it is nice to see it from your perspective! And you are so right about taking care of the land! If you let it go, it really no longer is...land. Where I live in the states, people are buying up land and putting houseing developments on it. I get the whole housing thing, but what used to be Nordic back country ski trails is now someone's backyard. I look forward to watching you in 2024! Keep up the amazing work!

I wish that I could have had the opportunity to become a shepherd at 22. Instead, I had to work city jobs until I was almost 50, when I bought this little place in Oklahoma, where land is cheap. I've never been able to quit my day job, because it would take someone bigger, stronger, and smarter than me to make a living on this place alone. But I have made a little extra pocket-money on my farm; I have turned a small profit on hay and cattle. Like you, I love being outdoors in every weather, and working with the land and with animals. You-all are right; living your dream life is better than being more financially successful.

Sean, I'm not sure if you send him Tiktoks or videos, or if he finds them, but OzzyMan loves you (well, he mostly loves Kate the Great), so getting your videos to him will always help, because he has such a large viewership. Stacey, bite that bullet and take a flight! Make it a short one, say, to the north of France, or even Ireland. You'd love travel, just a quiet travel...the type where you get to explore the castles, have a quiet lunch somewhere, wander the streets on your own time. But not a bad idea, starting with your own country. So happy to see you both content with your life! Happy Hogmanay to you both! I hope the year to come brings you more blessings! Super chill and interesting. We must get you over to Norway for a trip and salmon fishing. You would be right at home. Maybe you would enjoy taking a look at how we have started to use sheep and goats to combat the completely overgrown madness that is happening at present due to the reduced use of pastoralism/summer farming and warming climate (it was interesting to hear your thoughts on that side to farming being explored also in Scotland. Hit me up if it happens and I get you hooked up for a day with reindeer herders (who also use Border Collies to great effect to handle 2500 free-roaming reindeer). HNY to the two of you and the great pack.

Happy New Year, Sean, Stacey, and Doggies (Kate, Echo, Storm, Monty). Wow I found your dream of biodiversity and eco-sustainability on sheep farms so very interesting! Hope you get to prove that. It just makes sense. Here in the wilds of Africa, there are so many different ungulates and others running together in vast herds. They all crop grass (and trees: giraffes and elephants for instance, and springbok also nibble at the lower leaves of some lower shrub-trees) at different levels, and live in perfect harmony together. All the dung makes for good soil, and places for the dung beetles and other species to be. We have our problems with rain... mostly lack of, but sometimes excess of. But things actually work better when we don't try and overcontrol, and put species in the land that aren't actually suited to it. I guess in Scotland you once had plenty of different deer species, alongside mountain sheep and goats, and wolves? And Eagles? And foxes. Try talking to the fox with your mind, Stacey. Maybe it'll come back. If you love the butterflies (or was it moths?) so much, you can surely talk to the foxes.

Really interesting video. Thank you for answering so many questions. As a weaver, I was surprised about what you said about wool not being profitable. I would assume that with sheep breeds known for their wool (e.g., merino), it would be profitable. Also wondering about sheep's milk (for cheese). Maybe there are smaller herds of specialty breeds for which wool and cheese are profitable?

@DanceswithDustBunnies 4 ай бұрын
I've commented on this before: I don't understand the low price on the wool when buying wool yarn to knit or crochet with or wool fabric to sew is ridiculously expensive. I guess it's all the processing in between that drives the price up.

So, if the wool doesn't bring any money, what is done with the wool when the sheep are sheared? Is any of it given away? Just wondering if wool could be made popular again as it is a natural product. Do people in Scotland make carpets out of the wool? Carpets like Persian or Turkish? I just hate to think of it going to waste. (I am part Scott!) ❤I enjoyed this video so much. I grew up near small farms & knew farmers in the USA. It seems like a good life. 🎉Happy New Year🎉

Hearing and learning about your overall "life" adds a good bit of depth. Enjoying what you DO have is a (big) secret of true success; there's not improvement in owning a farm if you lose 50% of your freedom. ...Also, appreciated hearing your ideas around farming to build biodiversity, using specific breeds and artful treatment of the land. Would love to hear more about your biodiversity ideas. Keep in mind, you can cultivate elements of your audience by presenting content that speaks to those specific elements. Some of us want the details about some of the things you are living over there, although I know TikTok is made for what can be handled in short form, or spread through short form. ...I mentioned in another comment, we have a border-collie poodle named Pema. Watching her run and leap is one of the joys of my day.

Thanks for all the interesting information! You probably told us in another Q and A, but i don’t recall learning whether Stacy works outside the home and if not what her life is like, beyond the involvement with pursuing pregnancy. And Sean, what hours are you usually gone every day? You might be amused at what it’s like for an American from California to listen to your Q and A: to better understand you, i need to turn on the English captions and then what those captions say requires Another level of translation going on in my brain. You might want to watch the episode with the English captions turned on if you want a few laughs. But don’t worry about it. Clearly i and all your fans find what you both say and do very interesting and cute. And of course we feel the same about the charming doggies too. Thank you for being there and sharing your lives with us. Its a bit depressing to think about sheep’s wool being no longer an important industry, if that is what you said.- Im an 82-year-old granny and retired university teacher and writer and editor, as well as a lifelong knitter. Thanks for what you posted to date. Looking forward to what is coming next. So glad to learn that you have an interest in sustainable farming. The reason I watch your videos; I grew up in the US just east of the Mississippi River and the Ohio River is just north of here. We has a 200 acre farm, cattle, horses, and a Border Collie that kept it all running smoothly. Many years later I now live in town with a Border Collie who is a house dog. She is a dream. I know that she would love to play with sheep, but she has had to settle for my sons socks, tee shirts, the occasional deer, and the ducks at the river. And yes, a fence is just a suggestion to her. She clears it without even slowing down. It really amazes me as I watch your dogs because I see such familiar mannerisms. Amazing. I decided to just play with her one day--I gave her one of your commands. It was like something inside her understood. She was so alert and ready... But she had no sheep. ; ) Still, it was telling just to watch her. Have a wonderful 2024. Kate is my favorite 💓

Happy New Year to you both and of course the dogs. I certainly enjoy watching them here in NYC… PS As a Paul McCartney fan since the Beatles hit our shores in ‘64 I was so glad to hear you’re from Kintyre. His video there along the water with the bagpipers really showed its beauty.

I've always wanted a collie, but for reasons, I can't. So this is my way of enjoying collies. Love you channel.

Listening to Stacey talk about bringing insects home reminded me of when I put a caterpillar into my doll’s house in my bedroom. I tried to barricade it in with the tiny furniture 😂. Woke up during the night to find it crawling towards me on my pillow! 😳
