I just finished Rest Stop, and it was so stressful and unlocked a new fear of public restrooms for me. It was a page turner, I think you'll enjoy it. Excited to hear your thoughts! 🩸

I just read this one as well - I think it’s a good one to know going in that it’s more of a slasher movie experience in the sense that there isn’t a lot to say past that. There’s some deeper meaning but not necessarily anything too deep. The creepy elements in this were to me very fun and different and this felt like a comedy horror in many ways.

@@fancifulimpression Good point, I agree, not a particularly high concept and is not too deep thematically. And it is good to know that going in. There are definitely slasher elements and humor as you point out. And I appreciated that despite the type of fast pace novella it is, the main character still had some depth and their introspective moments didn't take away from the pacing.

I was so pleasantly surprised with Gallows Hill, I definitely recommend giving it a read. It was my first read by Darcy Coates and now I’m so excited to read more from that author!

The Ruins is great! I couldn't stop reading it. The movie has a different ending, but otherwise follows the book pretty closely.

My 24 in 2024 goal video is just embarrassing at this point 😅 I've had The Helm of Midnight since Regan mentioned it years ago and I'm still so interested in it! I read If I Have to Be Haunted in October and Bonesmith in September and both were really enjoyable!!!

Dowry of Blood was great for me, I wasn't sure at first but ended up loving it. I watched the movie adaption for The Ruins before I knew it was a book first, now I'm not sure about reading it because I don't know how close to the movie it is. I've got so many Fairyloot books to read, even though I've skipped a lot this year, I might actually cancel my subscription to be honest, they're choices are just not hitting for me at all now. Also, I loved Boys in the Valley!

Im hoping since I am going in knowing that, I will enjoy it. I think a lot of people read it very soon after it's release and didn't realize it was going to have that tone and it was more so just not what they expected, so it felt more disappointing
