end of year tbr goals

Yes! This year I've got on it, and have been going through my physical TBR. I've read about 20% of those books and I'm so happy! I've also gotten into the habit of reading a book pretty much as soon as I buy it, otherwise I'll hold my purse. So far so good!

I’ve been doing a “read it within 12 months” thing with the books I’ve purchased in 2023, because I was tired of seeing books just linger on my shelf. So if I bought 4 books last August, they’ve gotta be read/dnf by end of this August. Okay so far, with about 15-18 remaining 🤞🏻good luck with your tbr!

i’m very impressed whenever people manage to get their tbr down to a manageable number and mainly made up of recently acquired books, i will be keeping my fingers crossed for you!! i should try to start on tackling that myself tbh. BIG MOOD re: thorn of emberlain, i keep saying i’ll reread the series when the fourth book is announced and i wonder if/when that will happen. in terms of end of the year goals i think i’d like to read the liveship traders series! your recent talk of the mad ship reminded me i really wanted to start it and so i did! i’m about two thirds of the way through ship of magic and i think that if i focus on that i’ll probably be able to finish the series in the next couple months. good luck with your goals!!

I also had the goal of finishing my 2023 physical tbr this year and I'm def behind on that, so this video is giving me the motivation to take stock of what's left, see if there's anything I wanna read in 2025 instead and figure out what I can realistically read before the end of the year lol

At the beginning of the year, I set a list of 24 books to read, and even after making some necessary changes to it a few months ago, I still have 11 left to go, lol. Realistically, I think I can finish about 5 or 6 more of them, but part of that is because I did some major book reorganizing and really evaluating my unread TBR this year. So even though my specific TBR hasn't gone exactly to plan, I've been trending in the right direction for books I own and catching up on some subscription box reads.

My TBR reduction is not going as planned this year. I started with 47 books on the TBR and still have over 40. I blame Libby, honestly. :D But I still feel like I am making progress with some other goals, so it's fine. So great how you managed to stick to your TBR though! Congrats and good luck for the rest of the year!

I’ve also put off finishing 12 Kings, but starting back up again you might not need to reread because he has really good summaries of the previous books at the beginning.

I'm taking part in the r/Fantasy bingo this year. I know I have time until the end of april or thereabouts for this, but so far I'd say it's not going as good as I'd assumed it would back in spring haha. I still haven't finished 16 of the 25 books I put on the list, but I have already read 41 books this year so far. I just suffer from chronic inability to stick to a plan

Unfortunately, I have given up on Thorn of Emberlain. They have been pusbing the date back since at least 2017. 😢 If it does get released i may re read.

Idk if you have seen Scott Lynch's recent updates on his website/social media, but there are 3 short stories coming this winter, which will bridge the gap between book 3 and 4. And apparently the manuscript of Emberlain is with the editor now so hopefully a late 2025 or early 2026 release could happen? A girl can dream hahaha. Hope you achieve all these goals, I am especially curious to hear your thoughts on The Grace of Kings because I adore that series! Happy reading :)))

@@ThoughtsOnTomes pure speculation, but maybe the transition between books wasn't smooth so that's why we are now getting the bridge novellas first? in any case, I am soooo ready to devour new GB content 😍

Malice is like a bone stuck in my throat, ive picked it up twice before and never gotten more then 100/150 pages in.. Last try in 2025, if I dont manage to get through it, then it's getting deleted off my tbr for good. As for tbr reduction, Im going to try tackling my physical tbr, maybe in 2025, but given how I usually dont read new releases still no way am i making a dent in my GR tbr , too many on there.
