You have lost the dressing room and have not once acknowledged how disillusioned and let down people feel with the upper echelons of the union. Your answers are “oh it could have been so much worse” “Royal Mail wanted this..” so you count that as a win when in reality this isn’t how people feel whatsoever and the sooner the people who were responsible in bending over to the company and being done dry admit this, we will never move forward. Agreeing to worsening sick pay terms in a physical, outdoor job. Unforgivable and quite frankly sickening.

What they really mean when they say it could've been worse was having their subs stopped coming directly out of our pay packets. Funny how once that was taken off the table the CWU became a lot more amicable to crossing all the other red lines they said they'd never cross?

You have to be deluded to think Royal Mail will consider any of your points... They have broken you very easly last dispute, split the workforce and now are on track to sack as many old guard members as possible. I support my regional reps but I shall never stand with others on picket line again as it doesn't result in any good for workers.

They told us to stay strong, not to buckle & in the end, the CWU caved & we lost 19 days pay! I won't trust them again, that's for sure 👎

Every postie is angry at how this has all turned out what did we all go on strike for we lost all that money for nothing as far as we all can see and management are still doing what they want and treating us very poorly.why is it taking so long since the strikes too address all this we have most of the time not enough time to complete our deliveries and we are being harassed and berated for not doing so we are constantly being promised more staff and when it arrives they are not being put on deliveries. I have messaged on here many times and have had no response.As for the new owners what happens with our terms and conditions are we going to be put on the new terms????

Absolutely shocking. What's more is people can get a temp Christmas cover doing the exact same job for £16.50/hour currently. AND the likelihood is the temp won't have to do any prep, won't get the same pressure as direct employees, will rack up hrs and won't give a damm once they've had their bit as it was just a temp for a bit of Xmas cash.

All the things on your wish list are admirable, however this union showed they weakness during the dispute and the CWU will never repeat the record breaking ballot support again. Royal Mail or the new owner will continue to exploit the fact that the threat of strike action is gone.

At our Parcelforce depo we haven’t had a union rep since the strikes from 2 years ago…. I’ve mentioned this in the past but clearly Dave Ward isn’t following up , how can things be sorted , or the workforce not loosing respect for the CWU, if we don’t even have any union representation at work for Só long? I don’t understand why the CWU hasn’t done a check on the Royal Mail and Parcelforce depos across the country to see the number of depos without union representatives!! What are we paying for? 🤦🏻‍♂️.

Worked at RM for 15 years, never set eyes on a union rep, we’ve got a phone number that’s disconnected and a email address with a full inbox. I think we’re all coming out of it soon

Everything Kretinsky has proposed, has a timescale of 5 years! After that time lapses? He’s free to do what he wants regardless! Pensions? Contracts? Sell offs? All this is his end goal, before handing letters back to the government to deal with! The future is bleak unless the 5 year promise is taken off the table! Also the man is well versed in business law, so be careful with the wording, in any agreement struck!

Union solidarity strong as it gets Xmas '22.Less than a month later the exec led by Ward does a 180 and decides no more action while R.M.railroads any amount of executive action.Then recomends acceptance of the shiteiest of deals...Looks like someone got leaned on from where I was sat....Oh and the reason the USO isn't profitable has been downstream access for years...years! With no challenge

They've had 19000 people accept the new contracts and they the CWU think they have 'leverage' to upgrade them all to the old contracts 🤔

I recently just left after 20 years and really couldn't be happier ,I did actually hand in my notice in August as I was ready to leave then but silly me I was persuaded to stay ,Royal mail must be pretty desperate if they begged me to stay ,I went in early and did OT to help them out but then on the 7th of October I had a weeks annual leave but after that I decided I had enough I couldn't go back ,so then on Friday the 18th I was expecting my pay for the weeks annual leave I had just had and my remaining unused accrued annual leave ,as I had one more week left to take in January ,they actually paid me 5hrs 30 for the Monday the 14th ,the day I told them I wasn't going back that is all ,I am sure there was some illegal dodgy dealings going on and I missed out on what I was entitled too but I was just so glad to be out of it.

I left my post today as agency staff are being paid 20 an hour while we are being expected to do much more work load for 12.45, Royal mail is certainly not the best company and will not win in terms of the parcel war, I'm not waiting around for months to get a pay rise of probably 50p an hour, good riddence to this two tier crap whole

Royal Mail must be haemorrhaging money with the amount of white vans they are hiring, there’s just been a delivery of about 40 small white vans to the mail centre, that with the 30 or so 7.5 tonne vans I would say it’s about 40 to 50 grand per week …. Madness

It's little wonder new starter retention is so bad. The new contracts are very, very poorly worded and explained to almost the point of fraud, a yearly wage is stated on contracts that is NOT commensurate with the actual pay rate, those on lower weekly hours are told overtime is paid at 1.25% of hourly rate but not informed that the 1.25% rate does not kick in until they've worked 40 hrs. I've just seen that a temp role doing the exact same thing in the neighboring county 10 minutes the other side is being paid at £4 per hour more for peak season cover. It's disgraceful that one person who does 5 days out of 7, has to be available Sundays, that is actually willing and learning more than the temp person will, that wants a career and to stay in the job is being paid an awful lot less than the temp that will likely have all their prep work done for them, be less efficient and quite frankly just looking for a boost of money before Christmas.

The union is only as strong as its local members. The local rep where I worked quickly recognised this , and rightly or wrongly, looked after a privileged few , whilst selling the rest down the river. When they struck, even the privileged few scabbed.

Prior to the last dispute VR terms was 2 years pay and no age limit.That was changed in the last dispute to 9months pay and about £500 on top,with an age limit of 64.The union did not challenge it.!!!

This is painful to watch. No compulsory redundancies until 2025? So basically, deliver Xmas, and then we're out. USO reforms, "we're going to get you every other saturday off". Yes, you'll get every other saturday off, but you will be doing saturday's delivery on top of monday's. Nothing here is positive for RM's future. It's clear to me that the union has either given in, or has had some enticement to roll over.

7 months employed not one Saturday off yet.no company sick pay and 6 hours on streets walking for 13 56 a hour .no winter uniform.and now I'm suffering with arthritis because of the load what are we got to look forward to.the new generation

Try waiting 5 years for your first Saturday off. Started in 1999, first Saturday off was 2004. Those were the “good old days” when everyone started at 5 a.m. and the full timers finished before the part timers.

Iv been a postie for 6 years and do 8 rounds. I have been told to have my hours upped on my original salary contract I would have to accept a new contract that are given to new starters. I refuse to work every other Sunday when my contract was before covid hit. There are others in my office that don’t work as hard as myself and are on better contracts than me

On the subject of reps, At future walk in Chesterfield we seem to be forgotten. No one Knows who our rep is. I beleive we are part of South Yorkshire branch but we have not seen anyone from the branch. As a staunch unionist even I am questioning the benefits of the union.

Parcelforce del and coll depots overrun by owner drivers and agency while its increased its bsi and reduced its loading time...larger parcels..less time to load...one hour time windows...micro management of its own long serving loyal committed and skilled workers...all in the name of job preservation and to be competitive...and progress...
