Your comedy videos brought me here, Pastor Foskey. I’m RC, but find your explanations and discussions of the Bible fascinating. You put complicated concepts into simple terms that non-clergy can understand.

Howdy brother Keith! I started listening to your show about 3 weeks ago. I'm a big personally, I think you should keep the name conversations with a calvinists, just because it's funny, very catching, and memorable. I recommended your show to most of my brothers in church. May the Lord bless you in your mission, I will keep listening thank you for making your videos! To God be the glory!

Keith: Whatever name you choose, I think it will be ok. Being Arminian, "Conversations with a Calvinist" was the very thing that caught my attention and made me subscribe immediately. Sounded like being invited to a conversation instead of a debate. But... you talk about a lot more than Calvinism so, a name change may be in order. Finally, I love the way you impersonate us, Pentecostals, in your interdenominational meetings. Not 100% accurate, in my opinion but, very close, veeeeeeeery close... Bring more of that. Hehe! Keep up the good work...! May God bless you, very much.

I had no clue what Calvinism was and was a non denominational “Christian” I was asleep for so long walking a life of death and hearing reformed preachers got me into the Bible. Through that I was granted true repentance and salvation being born again. I would say keep the name so that people like me will see your ministry and learn about Calvinism and therefore the gospel.

Pastor Keith, that is a great chart. I appreciate you emphasizing both the things we must believe as Christians and the differences that have emerged over time. Many of the folks debating eschatology move too quickly passed the must believes for all Christians and their preferred views of the end times.

Yea. My neighbor is super in to “end times” but when I talk to him about the gospel it’s like he just kind of blows it off. I know he would call himself a Christian but the response to the gospel is almost a sort of confused reaction. Likes he’s not real sure about that and just wants to get back to end time prophecy and crazy stuff in the news.

I was raised in an Amillennialist church. After God saved me and studying Scripture on my own I believe in taking God literally unless it’s obviously not literal, paying strict attention to context. If we consider most of the book of Revelation an allegory, that’s a slippery slope to consider creation simply an allegory, then the flood, then the plaques of Egypt, etc, etc… Finally, since all of the prophesies of Christ’s first coming were literally fulfilled, I trust all prophesies concerning Christ’s second coming will be literal.
@cynthiahunter2570

I’m certainly not educated enough to make a determination, but from what I have heard, to take the Bible “literally” means to understand it the way the author originally intended.

It's not a slippery slope because the book of Revelation and Genesis are different types of literature. Revelation is more symbolic (the book tells you that) and Genesis is history.

@@amichiganblackman3200 Genesis is not history. First 11 chapters is distinguishable from the rest. Prove the first 11 chps actually happened and aren't just myths (like some of the church fathers believed. BTW, Allegory is way better to intrepreting the 11 chps) Also prove 12-50 also happened historically and aren't just legends and weren't tampered by the editations. Allegory is also better, especially when applying Kierkegaard's treatment of the absurdity of Abraham sacrificing his son, the person who future generations will be blessed through and kill him.

Quite providential you dropped this today. Last Sunday we did Mark 13:24-34 in Sunday School and you can't go through that without thinking about all these perspectives. But I like where the teacher went and it was where I would have were I called on to teach it: I see no command in Mark 13 to try and figure out the order and timing of all these events. The commands I do see are to be watchful and faithful. I believe the Lord is pointing ahead to his last commands at His ascension in the passage.

I think Keith Foskey Show is a winner, for all of the reasons you stated. While you're editing the handout, look at this phrase: "However, there is not a necessarily parallel" When you read it, you read it the way it should be, how you intended to write it, "However, there is not necessarily a parallel" An odd thing about our brains is that we usually read things the way we intended, not necessarily the way we wrote them. This is why it's always good to have someone other than ourselves proofread what we write... Enjoyed this as always!

Having grown up a pre-mil dispy, and then finding this position almost untenable with a reformed view of scripture, I decided to become a-mil after hearing one of the Ligonier fellows define it as, "the foyer where you wait until you decide which (pre- or post-mil) door you want to go in." But the more time I spend in the foyer, the more I find it to fit both special and natural revelation. Thanks for your brief discussion of this issue (which tended to support my status in the foyer).
@MansterBear

12:20 That’s what I thought growing up. I thought the dispy premill view was just “what the Bible said”. Not from reading it myself, it’s just what I was always told. I also read every book in the Left behind series. It wasnt until I started becoming reformed, and hearing people like Doug Wilson and Jeff durbin talking about postmill that I even learned there were other views. I don’t know what I am now, but even if I land on premill, it’d be historic premill. But I prefer to have the postmill mindset lol

I've felt that partial-preterism and futurism are both accurate (AKA the "I've heard it both ways" or Psych Eschatology view), similar to how for instance Isaiah prophesied with double referents concerning the sign of Immanuel in Isaiah 7:14, which is in part fulfilled in his day and ultimately fulfilled in Christ. It makes sense then that God also provided John with signs for John's day while also giving us the expectation of prophecy's ultimate fulfillment in Christ and his second coming.

I also have never heard any of these views. I came from a backround that only taught of a pretribulation rapture. John Mccarthurs teaching had a huge role in all churches I went to. I always had a hard time with his teaching on end times and didnt know there was any other view. But i also never cared to learn. In just the last 6 months God has put it on my heart to study end times. I have a question about amillennialism. If that veiw believes we are in the millennial reign now, then how do we deal with rev. 20:3? I think we could all agree as christians that satan is still decieving the nations. I sincerely am not trying to pick a fight. I really am trying to learn as much as i can. I am trying to develope my knoweldge so that i can speak confidently about Gods word to others. one thing i have found consitently in the church is that not many christians can agrue why the believe what they believe. I dont want to be that Christian.

But there is a 3rd veiw called non-preterist, also known as Reformed Amillennialism (as taught by Kim Riddlebarger, Anthony Hoekema and others). Which seems to me to be the most biblically sound veiw of Amillennialism.

For what it's worth, Keith, I think you could go either way with the name change. I absolutely appreciate the story and humor behind the name CWAC, however I also appreciate the boldness. You're not trying to hide what you believe. I knew from the very first video of yours I clicked on that while we may not agree on everything we will agree on most things because you do hold those reformation/biblical principles (I am 1689 LBCF). On the other hand there are some videos of yours I wish to share with my family or friends but I don't even bother because I know as soon as they see the word "Calvinist" it's game over. Most of my family and some of my close friends are very much independent fundamentalist dispensationalist baptists so you can only imagine some of the topics that come up. One thing is for sure though, they despise John Calvin and the teachings of Calvinism. My wife and I are essentially deemed heretics by some in our family for holding this so a name change may make your channel more approachable from certain groups.

If we submit these topics to just the laws of reason and logic, it's pretty easy to sort out the most likely correct paths. The right answers tends to be the simplest answer. Pre-mil is more elaborate and therefore least likely to be correct and a/post mil is simpler and more likely. Then we get to explicit biblical teachings and it only further points towards a/post being the more biblical position. IMO we shouldn't be using one book or one passage to develop a comprehensive understanding of any essential biblical topic. If there isn't more than one verse for support of any position, dogma can't be developed(assuming you're not a papist). The gospels and arguably the prophets offer more clear teaching on the final resurrection than revelation. It should be seen as a true and divinely inspired account, but we should steer clear of reading into its symbolism. Somethings are meant to remain mysterious. Psalm 131.

I heard Chris Rosebrough use the term “proleptic” prophecy as an alternative to partial preterism. What do you think? It’s the only time I’ve heard about it but I think it sounded like a better explanation of some of the prophetic texts like Matt 24.

I’d have to say that our partial preterists charts can give dispensationalists a run for their money!

My pastor describes himself as optimistic amil--which he further describes as "postmil who's lost his nerve."

If the end times shall mimic the 'days of Noah', wouldn't the rapture refer to those taken away, which in Noah's time, those taken away were outside the boat? Kind of like cleaning off the kitchen table? Lift up what you want to keep on the table and wipe off what's left and then return the item to the table?

Great overview! I have a funny question: what font do you use in your handouts? For some reason, I love it!

I hate "debates" but I'd love to have you and Pastor Jordan B Cooper have a conversation between a Calvinist and a Lutheran. I'm sure it would go over a lot better than when Luther would read a letter from Calvin. 😂

Do you have any references to someone defending the 'full preterist' view? I've read some who identify as preterist that would say "of course the end of Revelation takes place in the future and the beginning takes place in the past. It's the middle part that we're talking about," hence the 'Most of Revelation' qualifier at the beginning of all 4 main views. But I've never come across anyone defending the 'full preterist' view.

There were a few in the comments who claim to be full preterist. If you read through, you might find them and could ask their position.

Hey Keith! I could see changing the name could have some positive draw. There are people seeing the title Calvinist might be a turn-off for them. I'm not a calvinish and it wasn't for me and I really enjoy your show

I tried to download the handout, but it would only download as a picture and it was blurry. Is there another way to download it?
