I've gone through and have watched a ton of your videos showcasing your robot. I really like it honestly. I know a lot of folks have mentioned not being so sure about the face or the slowness but I find it endearing and comforting. I don't feel it really needs to be fast, not for it's intended setting, at least. If all day everyday it is completing one task and then the next, no breaks except for charging, my biggest concern would be that things are being done right and nothing is broken. I think that the steady and smooth pace puts some of that concern at ease and I know it will only improve overtime. Also, great choice on the wheeled base! Can't wait to see where you go with this!

1X seems to do a 80-90% is good enough in some cases, like dropping bi-pedal and going for wheels. Not the same, but the Segway went nowhere, but now we have cheap electric scooters everywhere, super solid, nothing fancy and they actually do the job and everybody gets them in 2mins. I thought they'd last 1- 2 years as a novelty, I wont use them because I need my exercise, but I guess they're here to stay. Like most techs its going to look silly until it suddenly doesn't. 1X looks the least refined, but could potentially win the volume approach.

This does not seem far away from being able to take over most cleaning jobs in office buildings. It's tasks would include things like vacuuming the foor, collect coffe cops and energy drink cans, empty trash bins, maybe clean peoples screens and wipe off dust here and there. Speed matters very little here, as it would have the entire night to complete these tasks for the next workday. Or the entire weekend if there are occasional cleaning tasks that take longer.

This model, "EVE," is manually manufactured. 1X have assembled about 75 of them, and half of those are deployed on-site with customers. The rest I guess would be in use in-house for refining and development. But they have another bipedal model in the works, "NEO," and for that one, 1X is building a factory.

Why do these companies insist on making their robots so creepy? People have been used to seeing awesome robots in Star Wars and other sci-fi for the last 40+ years, but instead they make a weird smiling thing with disturbingly form-fitting stretch fabric all over it. This thing looks like it's going to peel off your skin and wear it after it folds the clothes.

An autonomous robot will have to be as efficient as a person at lower cost. Or it will have to be so inexpensive the loss in productivity will be offset. In the case of the Tesla Optimus, those will be cheaper to employ and almost the same speed as a person. The above example will need a LOT of refining to compete.

It gives it that human touch that humans are going to want when these robots are ready for the consumer market. It's cool to see lots of different companies pushing the technology and showing their work. I give Tesla and Musk a ton of credit for getting the ball rolling. Prior to Optimus, nobody was building these kinds of robots. Now it's moving fast. Musk is great at propelling technological paradigm shifts.

@@okklidokkli Sure. Boston Dynamics, Asimo, etc. have been great displays of what robots could become. But, where they’ve fallen short for the past a decade has been that they were only pre programmed for movement. Now that we’ve got AI, neural networks, and machine learning the rapid advancement of robotics has commenced. Prior to Tesla, there wasn’t much in the news about robots that can perform actual human tasks. That really got rolling once Tesla showed Optimus. I think Tesla’s robot is as good as any of these newer robots being shown... if not better. At least from what I’ve seen so far. It’s a race for who puts the first humanoid robot in a home or manufacturing facility. I’ll place my bets on Tesla to come to market first and/or best.
