There is a story behind the famous kriti Endaro Mahanubhavulu. It is set in the Sri Ragam and is in Aadi Talam. It was composed by Tyagaraja. It is said that a great musician from Kerala, Shadkala Govinda Marar visited Tygaraja and performed before him. Govinda Marar had expertise in singing in the six degrees of geometric speed and earned him the title 'Shadkala'. Tyagaraja was enchanted with his rendition of the Jayadeva ashtapathi Sancharadhadhara and then was born Endaro Mahanubhavulu, the unparallelled rhythmic beauty in Carnatic music. This kriti is supposed to have been spontaneously composed by Tyagaraja.

I have read this rendition from literally dozens of classical giants. Never get tired of listening to it as it is a wonderful masterpiece by Saint Thyagaraja that is timeless in its philosophy. I think Dr. M. Balamuralikrishna's rendition seems the most melodious than others. But, this rendition is also great.

i first came to know about sri.T.M.KRISHNA THE VOCALIST while discussing with my son [who is a vidwat in veena ] and who was getting ready to take up a fellowship in stockholm in sweden to do his PHD in cognitive compt science,......he reminded me to listen to T.M. KRISHNA the vocalist and highly recommended him,though my interest in carnatic musis only one of entertainment and for its intense BHAKTIRASABHAVA,,,,,,i love the nuances and intricacies of the music, more so because of its healing qualities both on the plane of one's personal well being both physical and mental.this music gives mental solace and can take you to heights of transcendence.......that way i got interested to listen to him ..i attended some live conserts in mysore centenary hall,university of mysore,and got absolutely impressed and inspired since when i make it mandatory to attend all conserts..he sings in a masterly fashion

There is nothing wrong in TMK's pronunciation of Mahanubhavulu (with less amount of stress on the last two characters). It may be different from how Telugu people do it, but that does not mean that TMK has insulted or let down the language. What one must appreciate is the quality of rendering with pure devotion.

Inthujan Vaithilingam it's tough to understand your comments without paying due respects to your scarce appreciation of the arts. Your comparison of this rendition "to a drunkard" does injustice to drinking as much as it does to a wonderful interpretation of the song. And remember that "Bhava" is an evocation; it requires as much a nurture within, as it does a good ear/judgement. And evocativeness of a song is no less subjective than the distinction between royal challenge and a Laphroig.

That variation at 3:30 is the half the reason why I believe TMK'S endaro mahanubhavulu is second best after MBK'S Endaro mahanubhavulu

His respect for saahiyam is impeccable. Tyaagaraja, the God, Brahman of Carnatic, Pumbhaava Saraswati of Saahitya and King of Saints would have been disappointed with the mahanubhavas of Carnatic these days with their horrific lack of respect for words, sahityam and Telugu. If TM Krishna respects the Carnatic choodamanis wishes of suddha sahitya but hates his peers of today's Carnatic music, I'm perplexed if I should like him or hate him for not being a complaint conservative.
