@@skiddledede8885 I have always appreciated the way British tv actors look like real normal people instead of runway stars ( well, some do, but) . I tried a new American series from books that I love, and found a runway model type in a leading role, while in the books she is definitely middle aged and kinda motherly. I stopped at the first episode.

@@bevtuft3572 ... I agree, Bev. UK TV & movies in general have a depth American TV does not. The subject matter of American entertainment is shallow, frivolous and lacks redeeming quality. They try to get by with pretty faces, CG, and action. No nuance at all. Boring. Performance occasionally good, mostly not. I don’t watch most of the time. In fact, I’d rather watch UK reruns than “This Is Us” crap.

I absolutely love this series. So many likeable characters, great attention to detail of the times. Fred Thursday is wonderful and there's a poignant sadness and vulnerability on Morse's face that makes you really warm to him.

I love this Morse character. To me, he’s the blueprint INTJ personality. He holds contempt for nepotism, hierarchical social structures, corruption and organized sports, 😂 and yet he’s constantly pushed up against the very things he despises. Never does he capitulate.

Sadly, I agree. Endeavour is one of my all time favorites, so I will not miss an episode, but Season 8 was difficult to watch. From every aspect, it is superb viewing with first class performances. But the football episode and the ghoulish finale were over the top. Perhaps it will make parting with this wonderful program a bit easier.

My take...watered down. Usually there is a lot to break down/ponder/discuss. Last 2 have not. I imagine the last will be the same? Sad.

So disappointed....dark, brooding, morose. Endeavor has turned into an alcoholic and there is zero chemistry between Strange and Joan with Strange apparently lusting after her? The change to Evans as director is obvious and a failure in my opinion.

That’s a bit harsh!! He’s the director, not the writers. Even I can see a big difference in this season than the others. And, yes, I am disappointed too. I was looking so forward to the last 3 episodes. It seems like the whole production is merely sliding into home to finish the game. But that’s not Shaun’s fault! I don’t like the direction Morse is taking..heavier drinking, smoking...yes dark, brooding, and morose. And the aunt(?) who stabs him in the heart with her nasty tongue. Still one of my favs of all time.

This is what was supposed to happen. This is a prequel series, have you never seen the original series? Morse is a functioning alcoholic basically and dies single. His work is his life.

@@mignonnesilva4306 ...Are you referring to the John Frost series of Morse as an older character? Yes, I knew Endeavor was a prequel. Being such, it doesn’t have a set goal for the character to reach by this final episode. I know he’s falling slowly into that character, but I just hate that I have to go to bed with this version in my mind. I couldn’t get into Frost as Morse. I know he was a legend in the UK, but Shaun is the one I ❤️.

@@skiddledede8885 I personally also wasn't into Inspector Morse because I found it rather depressing. Despite that I did watch Endeavour out of curiosity and finished through series 8 in 2 weeks. I just hope they end it with Morse having some dignity.

@@mignonnesilva4306 ...me too. We plan to watch it again b/c it’s so good and “meaty”. Complex and entertaining. Well acted and written. One must turn over many rocks to find any to compare. 😔
