Since you mentioned engine size in the video ML, you may have been thinking of the 924 (2.0L engine). The 944 (depending on year) actually had a 2.5L, 2.7L, or 3.0L 4-cylinder. The 3.0L was the biggest 4-cylinder put in a regular gas-powered production car at the time, bigger than most 6-cylinders of the era, and was also used in the 968.

Mental! My clutch has gone on my crappy Astra van I use to keep the milage down on my car. Got a quote today from some fella for £460! WTF "THATS 8 HOURS WORK MATE, BIG JOB AINT'IT".
