In magister Yero's lair we find a lot of infomation about the dreamflower and it's qualities. The theory is that you will sort of drift in to a branch in the sea of eventualities that is the most favorable towards you. So yeah, you actually survived and made it off Enderal wirh Carlia/Jespar.

@@Holydecipher In the quest "A drop in the Ocean" Sha'Rim says that its wrong, and what actually happens is that you go into a coma in which you'll dream that everything goes your way. It's very ambiguous. In one of the quests you get told that some mage had slept for 7 hours but in his dream he lived through 1000 years - maybe this is what the elixir is doing while you are passed out dying next to the beacon? However, you'd think that if was a dream where everything goes really well then Enderal wouldn't have been fully destroyed and high ones wouldn't be appearing on Qyra so soon. We will never know the truth unless there is a sequel.

I mean, if everything the game tells you is a lie anyway (everything the Veiled Woman, the Aged Man, High Ones, Black Guardian etc. is just complete bullshit when you start pulling at the threads of their statements) then why take _anything_ a puppet of the High Ones says at face value? Think about it, you stopped the cycle from happening, which means you stopped another high one consciousness from being born. One of those figures was in a cradle. I still expected another ending, the most interesting dialogue I think in enderal, is the dialogue with the inmate at the prison at the initiation, about the character dying in the ocean floor with Sirius and that all this is a dream, for me that's what's happening all this is a dream happening at the moment the character drowned. And we still don't know what happen to the characters family did he really killed them before he fled to Enderal?

According to the Butcher of the Ark and the Rhalata questline Black Libra kills bad people. Whether they're committed the crime or not if their seer take the information they kill it. And Tharael once mensions that they're killing persons that they call "emissaries". So I'm thinking our family's death might be their job. At the first dream there was this option "No dad, masked guys killed" or something like that. This is pretty similar to what Qalian and his team did when they kill those childs. (I forget the name of the event.) They take the information that we'll be a emissary and decided to take action but somehow we managed to survive and maybe that guilt of us might be part of that situation too. We somehow felt they were after us but instead our family suffered.

@MyLongestJourney I actually prefer it if it's left ambiguous to whether or not the ending is "happy". I was _super_ satisfied with the endings of the game originally and was concerned when they said they had planned to add a "third ending". I always felt the whole point was to fight the temptation of the "escape ending" and go through with your sacrifice, as that's the only way to stop the cycle. I haven't played the content for the new ending, but I'm definitely intrigued by it after seeing the debate.
@StarlightDragon
@StarlightDragon 4 жыл бұрын
@MyLongestJourney yes, that's true. In part, that's why I like the endings. Because it forces you to consider the consequences with no definite answer. But I do believe there is stock in the idea that the sacrifice ending is the one thing that has never been attempted in any of the cycles, which is why I believe that if there IS a way to stop it, that would be the only thing left to try.

It doesn't matter if it's real or not - because of what Yuslan said to you, you'll always be wondering whether it's real or an illusion, and that constant, niggling doubt is what makes this ending so terrifying. Even if the Prophet makes a conscious choice to believe its real, there will always be that sliver of doubt, the incredulity at having survived something as catastrophically destructive as the Cleansing and the Beacon exploding right next to you, and it will eat away at you until you eventually go mad. The fact that the Prophet's dream of home in this ending is so horrifying compared to the other two speaks to this. Throughout the game, the dreams have been the voice of your subconscious, trying to tell you that something is very, very wrong. In this ending your subconscious is practically screaming at you that something isn't right. You're unable to move on, unable to find catharsis, and unable to determine if your life is a dream or an illusion. You're unable to determine if your actions have meaning, or if anything you've done so far has meaning.

Oh the dream flower extract just makes you dream this is real. It's not. As the description of what yashim said it would do. A "so called" happy ending is only what you want to happen and thus is not real. I just beat the game hoping for this ending but got the other version of the potion from yashim. And I could only activate the grave stones. Feels bad man :( Got more insight and I'm fairly sure that your character is not effected by the dream flower potion until your character dies. Forcing your already dying flesh to scream in pain perhaps? Possibly forcing your character to become another fleshless in a way.

@taederias1804 3 жыл бұрын
The big, glaring problem with what Yuslan told you though is that if all the dreamflower elixir did was let you dream a perfect reality, i.e. instead of making your dreams a reality, it turns your reality into a world of dreams... then how the hell would anyone have gotten the idea that it does something good? Sure, from the perspective of the user it would seem the same, but in this scenario, no one else would ever find out about that. In fact, they would just see the person who drank it... die, I guess? Or fall asleep forever? There would certainly not be legends about how the users' lives have become so perfect afterwards. Unless maybe the formula was deliberately engineered to do what Yuslan claims, and false legends of its effects were being spread around... but then there would be no reason to make the potion do anything at all, one could just as well spread lies about any complicated potion that kills you. One possibility that might sort of make sense of that is if some magical theory suggested that the elixir *should* function as the legends stated, it nonetheless didn't work, but some people saw fit to advertise its effects regardless. The crucial problem still remains though that unless the same theory suggested that "either this or that would happen" (which seems a stretch, but who knows) the explanation of letting the imbiber live out a perfect life in their dreams is unnecessary. Point is, whether or not the one drinking the potion lives in a perfect world of dreams or just simply falls asleep / dies has literally zero effect on what the world at large knows about the potion, so absolutely no reason for Yuslan to assume an untestable hypothetical effect instead of a simpler and, from his perspective, equivalent version, i.e. the potion simply "killing the user". Regardless of the particulars, this doesn't really add up, and it has bugged me ever since I first heard Yuslan tell me his hypothesis.

@@taederias1804 maybe what it does is reverses an arcanist's powers. instead of using their mind to bring in parts of other realities. the dream flower elixir allows the user to warp their mind into other realities, so from outside perspective it looks like they just fell into a coma. it also explains why the legend keeps perpetuating, because they come from people warped in from other realities. it's also possible that recipes differ from reality to reality, leading to more confusion.

Even though there a some evidence in favor of coma and hallucinations (Yuslan words, that specific painting on the wall, Calia somehow keeping her party dress when fleeing Ark on a myrad in hurry, etc.), still there are things that can mean it is real. Prophet is not a human being since long ago, he already broke some "scripts" of the Cycle with a lot of help from a Veiled Woman, and he even did the impossible - brought the damn extinct flower from another reality. So him being alive when he shouldn't and drinking the potion that should have never existed would definitely result in something real.
