Stop throwing around the term “pedophile”. It cheapens the accusation. A pedophile is some one sexually attracted to prepubescent children. Andrew had sex with a prostitute above the age of consent. Reprehensible? Yes. Illegal? No.

This was a person who was flying around the world, by her own admissions, a ‘working girl’, who had no trouble entering a nightclub in London, drinks at the bar, dressing in adult fashion style, who supposedly offered her services. To say she was forced is just stupid. Her motivation was the lifestyle and the money. She herself procured other girls for the racket. She herself has admitted this….sometimes.

I find myself cutting Charles some slack during the early days of his reign. His mother just died. He was sad. He was mourning. And yet, he had to go out into public and ceremoniously take over her job. That would be daunting. I remember that after my mother died, I just wanted to hide away in sadness for days. After watching Charles having to perform in public after such a loss, I felt so sorry for him.

Prince William once said “no one longs for the day they will become King or Queen because it means that someone we love very much has just died.” Ugh. For all of their fancy clothes, sparkly jewelry, golden carriages- they are just people. They close their eyes alone with their thoughts at night like everyone else. They mourn when their parents die. For all of Harry’s complaining that the royals never show emotion, he sure as hell excoriates his father for the tiniest glimpse of emotional turmoil.

As loathe as I am to defend Prince Andrew, there are a couple of facts that may point as to why some members of the royal family seem to be lenient with him. First, Virginia Giuffre was of the age of consent in Britain when the events of the law suit occurred, so it was not a matter of pedophilia. Second, Andrew agreed not to fight the law suit but to settle instead because the law suit would detract from his mother's platinum jubilee. As to Royal Lodge - it is said that Andrew has not been able to keep up with the repairs and the place is falling apart. Charles could renovate the property and generate income by renting it out. That is why Charles wants Andrew in a smaller property like Frogmore Cottage.
@Claireanlite

Also for security. KC has to pay for Andrews security because of the location on the estate. Frogmore is in the security area. Harry took Netflix filming within that area and breached everyone's privacy and security. I don't think any of them wanted to be out on the estate with Harry and Meghan showing up with Cameras.
@sidneybales9062

Would the rent be Andrew's or KC? Also. It is my understanding that Andrew's relationship started because Sarah borrowed a substantial amount of money from Epstein. I heard (FWIW) Andrew was negotiating that payment. I am willing to cut Andrew a bit of a break because Guiffre has proven to not be very reliable by "forgetting" who was were and what she did. Andrew IS a ponce though.

Not a fan of Prince Andrew, yet, as a survivor of child molestation, I need to speak up! Once you're the victim for as many years as I was, it's not hard to pick out liars, actual victims & abusers! Your gut really does tell you. Virginia was 18, worked for Epstein of her own free will & later admitted she lied about Prince Andrew. The photo had been doctored & the original is nowhere to be found! How convenient! It was an attempt to blackmail Andrew! The difference between Andrew & Harry is simple: Andrew was accused & never found guilty; Harry walked away, bashed his family & profited from his lies! The British Tax Payers & King Charles paid for the renovations on Frogmore. The real reason for KC wanting PA out of the Royal Lodge is that PA can't afford the upkeep on it & because of it's size, KC wants to use it for visiting Diplomats. PA is still a member of the RF & is allowed to live on the Grounds of Windsor! Harry disowned the RF & chose to distance himself from them. KC & the late Queen have offered to allow him to stay on the grounds, yet, H & MM have refused unless it's in the Castle. Even PW & his family is not allowed by protocol to stay in the same residence as the King!
@LouisaWatt
@LouisaWatt 17 күн бұрын
Yeah, I’ve got my own history of abuse and I have my doubts about the allegations against PA. He’s taken his demotions on the chin without flipping out like Harry has, and the only events he attends are family gatherings, like funerals. People are expecting unreasonably punitive treatment of PA when there’s not enough evidence.

Also, as a child of sexual abuse (from 8yrs old by an uncle), it is a different way that I see Andrew, the woman was 17, and at that age, most girls are having sex...she had been living on the streets before Epstein took her in (and he may well be the predator of young women) but Andrew was a young good-looking man at the time, and the photos of Virginia Guthrie with her arms around Andrew, did not look like an innocent girl being forced to have sex with him!!! She was just well trained in blackmail by Epstein, and I still think it's dodgey that she was going to be charged, but walked away Scott-free by pointing the finger.

While his friendship with THAT MAN and his total attitude during the interview was disgusting are we to charge someone with little to no evidence, and hang drawn and quarter him because of that friendship. We also don't know he had any idea anyone he slept with could be a victim of human trafficking. Giuffre's own telling of the story indicates she flirted with him (at the direction of Ghislaine) and that she didn't give any indication of unwillingness at any point. He's obviously both very stuck on himself/self-absorbed to the point of not paying much attention to others and not the sharpest tool in the shed. Are we to believe he somehow picked up on subliminal messages that the girl(s) flirting with him weren't actually attracted to him? Is that something he SHOULD be looking for? Yeah, probably. Is he criminally liable for not questioning every person he hooks up with? Questionable at best. I'll grant that he's an idiot with bad taste in friends and iffy morals, but I'm gonna need more information before I condemn him totally as a criminal, especially a pedo-file considering none of the claims against him specifically involve children.

I don’t care for Andrew at all, but he has never been indicted for any crime, nor has he ever been judged guilty in a court of law. So, as much as I may find him repellant, he’s legally and technically innocent, whether I like it or not. He’s been judged guilty in the court of public opinion, sure, but isn’t that a slippery slope to embrace? Do we punish people based on what the public believes without giving the accused a fair hearing? I can’t agree with that, but again, JMO. In addition, if he did in fact have sexual relations with Virginia Guiffre (there’s no proof that he did), it was not illegal for him to do so as she was well within the age of consent in both NYC and London. So, again, repellent behavior, yes, absolutely, but not illegal.

Philip was dying, the Q knew she had cancer, it was her jubilee and most importantly and least mentioned Meghan was on the witness list as having information regarding the relationship. Also according to Tina Brown who ought to know the Queen paid less than $1m which is what it would hav cost to minimally defend. And he went along with it and didn’t make a fuss. People may hate him for being a complete tool, which is deserved and fair, but he has never been a traitor like his nephew.

The frogmore cottage issue is much simpler than Omid is describing. First, the lease expired and as tenants H&M had breached terms of contract by secretly bringing media onto Windsor castle grounds to take pictures of private property which would put other members of the family at risk. They could no longer be trusted on private royal grounds without supervision, which is probably why Harry refuses to stay when he’s invited: because he can’t roam freely with recording devices. Cheere, as a primary school teacher I think you’re supposed to reiterate certain things so that small children can grasp it. Omid is doing it because the premise of his entire book is tenuous and hangs on a few threads, so he has to keep rehashing those scraps to make them seem bigger than they are.

Yes King Charles III did come off as grumpy. But if you take into consideration all that he was dealing with on that day . He had just lost his mother. His son Harry , is threatening and acting like a fool, a loose cannon. The king had to go out into the public and shake hands, smile and he is actually a very empathetic man. He has not been afraid to show tears and feelings. On a day that he wanted everything to go perfectly. He was being compared to his mother and it would be impossible to match over 70 years of not putting a foot wrong. He was being himself, "blasted ink " I'd say I would have had a little melt down also. On such a simple thing to get right. Make sure the pens that they are paying hundreds of pounds for work😅😂. His memotions came out here. He was grieving and trying to hold it in. He is human.

The only documents released with his name mentioned, were statements from 4 individuals 3 of which just said they saw him there and had been told by people what they were saying. So isn't that classed as hearsay? He paid that lady of as he was forced to by the family rather then go through a court case during the queens jubilee. Isnt she now being investigated for te same crime she has sued people for? Also uk age for sex is 16! Brit lad from London here - I have to say The ink pen incident was not unfortunate at all - I know so many people who said that was when they warmed to Charles because it made him relatable - if people are too perfect Brits tend to get cynical and roll their eyes - that’s why markle went down like a lead balloon - she was projecting “I’m perfect, I’m flawless” and we were all “what’s she hiding?” I Now think she’d a proper psycho and I think Harry is a psychologically abused husband - Sadly that’s not a joke I’m genuinely worried about him. Pengate was also the moment I saw first hand how good camilla is for the king - I’ loved Diana and so camilla was always the enemy but now I can she - they were victims too - they loved each other in the 60s and weren’t allowed to marry so I’ve forgiven camilla and she has an amazing sense of humour. She’s good for the king and helps him do his job better. Scoby Pooh is an idiot writer - a one trick gossip girl who’s revealed far too much of his own ugly character in that toilet roll of a book ….😂

Does anyone question what Charles promised to his mother concerning Andrew? Does KC wonder what Andrew would do if he came down on him too hard? Another idiotic book? Andrew showed bad choice of associates but he's not convicted of any crime and he has been silent. Granted he should be invisable for the best. The pic is of a chic of 17. Today, basically it's not a crime nor if she was a willing participant. How did she get involved with epstein? Women's me too movement has lost it's power with too many crying wolf. I never followed the story of Epstein. Especially, since they hung Andrew out to dry and swept the other American big wigs under the rug, including President Clinton. Andrew does need to downsize but he has a lease, he does live there,,he's mostly invisible, and as long as he maintains it so the taxpayers don't, leave sleeping dogs lie. If he can't maintain it or wants to give the lease to a daughter he needs to move his butt out. He also needs to get a job or invest to have an income. Harry is KC son to deal with as he see's fit. He doesn't work for the crown. He doesn't live in the UK. And the Queen gave him Frogmore with the understanding of working for the monarchy. Charle's coronatio, he wanted to be not too extravagant because he realized the strife his subjects faced with inflation. People were worrying whether they could afford food or heat. At least he was aware of the problems at hand.

The pen thing. Why does anyone think it reflects badly on Charles? It reflects badly on the people who did not make sure to place properly working pens there on solemn occations. And any way, i behave in the same way with leaky pens and everyboy I know do too. I don't feel that reflects badly on me/us. But if doing a small thing twice totally reveals your forever unchanging core personality then Scobie has told us that Hawwy having said "P--ki", "R-- head" and worn that WWII costume means that Hawwy is an unchagable racist. The Andrew thing. You don't need to agree with Scobie on Andrew. Because had Andrew been banned, shunned and kicked out penniless and homeless, Scobie would have used that to show how nasty the royal family is."banned, exiled and humiliated, left without protection and for what!? Rumors!!! Andrew has not been convicted of anything and yet he is cruelly discarded. Exactly what they did to Hawwy! See what a nasty track record the royal family has!!!" So if you agree with Scobie now you would have to agree to the above scenario too. It would have been better for Andrew to have gone to court. Hardly any man gets convicted for what he was accused of. A non guilty verdict would have served him better even if no one believed him. I don't know what Scobie is on about. Andrew doesn"t have any royal duties. I would think it unusual and cruel if he would be banned from entering the church with the rest of the family even if he was found guilty and had served a prison sentence. In church with the family is the only time he is visible. We do live by " innocent until proven guilty". It would look nasty indeed if everybody in the family shunned Andrew without him even having been found guilty. And it would put is daughtets in a difficult situation. I thinjk Andrew is as banned as he can be under tge circumstances. You must have been too worn down by scobie's boring repwtitiveness to notice his sneake two facedness.

I really didn't care about the pen incident. It's an historical document and someone laid the pen down instead of keeping it upright. Those types of pens can leak everywhere when they're laid flat. Often advanced age is accompanied with various health problems and vitamin deficiencies like B12. This can cause even the nicest of people to be easily frustrated and unintentionally harsh over small inconveniences. Not easy for anyone in that position. Andrew on the other hand........ I'd be happy if they did a Napoleon and exile him to some remote island. I appreciate he's innocent until proven otherwise but no one can deny his association with some very unsavoury characters. The RF connection with Jimmy Savile is a whole other scenario. Savile's despicable behaviour was tolerated and enabled by those in power at the BBC and others. I’m so happy for Omid! He’s never experienced a leaking pen. Forget the stress of grieving the loss of a parent AND stepping into that parent’s job which happens to be KING, getting ink on one’s hand and clothing is a trigger for major annoyance. I had a pen failure while inflight to visit a client. My fingers stuck together with black ink which soon found its way to the cuff of my white shirt so, yes, one can indeed get quite annoyed with a leaky pen. Had cameras been clicking and someone filming my attempts to get tidy and presentable, I would have cursed and, no doubt, delighted whoever was trying to catch me out in an emotional display. Too much has been made of these very human moments (we no longer believe that the monarch is divine, right?) That Scobie so focuses on these minor incidents - already documented, commented on and left in the dust of history because THEY ARE MEANINGLESS- is yet further proof that he (Scobie) and his biased regurgitated narrative provide no education, no insight and no value. Mad props to you for going through this painful exercise and sharing your review with us!

In hindsight, I think King Charles' reaction to both the leaky pen and his obvious irritation at his pen set not being moved away from him as he signed documents following his mother's death could simply have been caused by lack of sleep, grieving his mother's recent death and having questions fired at him from all angles as his staff needed him to approve each step of the process as he assumed his role of King. I actually felt bad for Queen Camilla who had the leaky pen thrust at her by her irritated husband...so much for chivalry. I remember feeling the same way when protestors started throwing raw eggs at the King as he went on a walkabout on a public street. He never flinched, but interestingly enough, I never saw him even glance his wife's way and try to shield her from the eggs being lobbed in their direction. It is interesting to now hear that the pen set had been a gift from his sons...I bet the leaky pen was from Harry...sorry, just kidding - LOL!

Ok, most Americans don't know this but MM wasn't the first royal Tom Bowers wrote a scathing book about. The only difference between that book and MMs book is he DID change that royal's behaviour. Yes, Tom Bowers wrote a SCATHING book about Charles when he was the Prince of Wales. He ripped Charles a new A-hole. And legend is he adjusted his attitude and changed the way he operated. Now, I'm not the biggest fan of Charles but I would imagine his behavior is because he was brought up in a world where he was provided for materially with every worldly luxury, however, he was a sensitive child and had a mother who had no propensity for motherhood. Even when he was very little the Queen went to live on base with Phillip in Malta and didn't bring Charles and Anne with them!! The courtiers either kissed his ass or abused him. No one had his back with no strings attached with the exception of the Queen Mother. His parents weren't very bothered with him so what does that produce? Can you say narcissistic behavior? Narcs are created, not born. I say that to say this though, that incident with the pen should have never been put on the screen. That should've been edited out. He had just lost his mom. I didn't think he acted that bad. If I had my finest clothing on and my mom just died a leaky pen would've had me heated. I don't think it's a big deal that he acted that way for one reason: he was acting out towards the PEN. He didn't say "Who the HELL put this pen here? Call the guards! Off with his head!" He was upset and frustrated. That may have been the third pen that day that leaked. Worse than that it may have been one of those antique pens. Who knows? The way I see it, everyone is ok having Charles bc he's older and wiser, plus he learns his lessons as reported by Tom Bowers. Plus, after him we get William and Catherine so... So far i think the king is doing a great job with the people. He reminds me of Edward VII who followed the LEGEND Queen Victoria. They thought hed be a disaster but the people ended up liking him. It was the luxurious Edwardian age. Thanks for reading my novel. ❤️

Charles is grumpy. Who isn't? My 72-year-old husband is grumpy too. With everything he was going through and considering his future cancer diagnosis, the King was going through a lot. Scobie can suck it.

I think, at the time the pen thing happened, we have to remember that he was in the first throws of grief for his mother whilst being thrown onto the world stage to be scrutinised under great pressure. I think we can give grace in this instance. I know that I was not always able to hold myself as gracefully as I would have liked in the first few weeks after my mums death.
