1:53 this is the most heartbreaking moment of any video game

I get chills every single time at that moment and I can hear Yuna saying no. What a beautiful arrangement and heartbreaking journey ❤️
@zesalesjt77972 жыл бұрын
It's a very "twisted" ending. But, it's also the most psychologically fulfilling. The theme is that the game will end which is a double edged fourth wall break. Suddenly, you're not playing the game. You're a character in the game. You're the dream of the game of world that will cease to be once you stop playing. From that moment, you can stop playing at any point and you'll have proven the story correct. If you persist to prolong the dream then you're reassured by the story that there will still be an end. At the moment that is the canonical ending you see it all disappear but not in the way you're led to expect because of the shift in the demographics of the audience by that point. The "dream guy" fades which someone identified with would experience as an ego death. Someone identifying as his counterpoint (identifying with/as Yuna) would have reinforced shock to trigger denial in order to initiate artificial grief. It's akin to the strategy of FF6 and FF7 putting strong turning points as an artificial ending but here they reinforced a literary truth so often that you it began to point toward... Hmm. This gives me an idea.

One of the most heartbreaking, depressing and loving endings in one , in video game history Can't change my mind
@TheArchKnight2 ай бұрын
Final Fantasy X was the first game I played on my PS2 back in the day. Even though I was a kid, I had already played VI, VII and VIII on PS1. So I was a Final Fantasy fan already. X became my favourite for many reasons, and it still holds the spot even after all these years. I have played X countless times, and every time I do, I learn something new. X has taught me a lot throughout the years. About friendship, about breaking free from dogmas, internal (negative) creeds and prejudices. About focus, principles, values... About finding your middle ground. I remember this line from Lulu that really struck me in my teenage years. "If you want everything, you'll end up with nothing." For me, at the time, it felt like Lulu was speaking to me, but in provocation. When you're a teenager, you want to conquer the world, you want to be the best at everything, you want everything. And, back in the day, I really wanted to prove to the world that I could be that guy that has everything, that conquered everything. I had parental issues, so most of this desire of mine came from that. But Lulu spoke to me. I couldn't be everything I imagined I could be. Instead, I had to focus on one major goal, and sacrifice other things to achieve something I had decided was dearest to me, instead of trying to achieve everything at once. Lulu made me swallow my pride and humble myself, and then further helped me develop my personality, or rather, helped me find myself. Well, Lulu speaks that line to Tidus when the party learns in Zanarkand that in order to defeat Sin, one must become a Final Aeon, and together with the summoner, sacrifice their lives to defeat Sin, but only for it to be revived again. And Tidus opposes that idea, he wants to break the cycle for good, and find a solution where nobody sacrifices anything at all. One could argue that, well, they found the solution, and they ended up having everything. But no! Still, Lulu was right. Tidus, the main protagonist, is gone when Sin is defeated. Auron is gone too. So, Lulu was ultimately right. You cannot have everything. You can only have enough. You must sacrifice to obtain what's desired. They suffered the ultimate sacrifice. Instead of Yuna, Tidus and Auron were the sacrifice. They couldn't have everything. Thinking about it now, I believe X is also about responsibility over life itself. Your role in a bigger scheme in the world. Tidus starts the game as a playful boy that just wants to get back home to continue playing Blitzball, and he wants to take the pretty girl with him. He's immature and completely oblivious to what life really is. To reality. That's why Lulu can't stand him at first. But as Tidus starts to learn about the world of Spira, the struggle its people go through in an eternal cycle of suffering, he starts to mature, and starts to have a sense of responsibility, later developing to its fullness, and him accepting his role, his father's role, and Yuna's role in the bigger picture of that reality. X is definitely more than a game. People who can truly perceive what X has to offer will definitely have a lot to learn about life and its meaning while they play along the game. Life is not just about sitting back and enjoying the ride. Although those moments are important, we must remember that our actions can define the world, have big impact in it and can reflect on other people's lives.

Still brings tears into my eyes... Beautiful. It's hard for me to accept that I will never have that same experience like playing it for the first time, seeing the ending and listening to this masterpiece in the background. It was a perfect moment. Those are rare in life and it's fortunate that I had the chance and pleasure to experience it. By the way, if someone doesn't feel frission (get goosebumps) while listening to this, that person is just soulless and heartless. It's almost impossible.

I think the fifth measure of the elegiaco section on the second page (the ‘hymn of the fayth’ sounding section) is supposed to be a raised A-natural instead of an A-flat. It doesn’t have the A-natural in my sheet music; it sounded off in the melody and I listened to the original piano version which does play the A-natural.

Thank you for another beautiful video! I remember when you first posted To Zanarkand, I commented that this song was more fleshed out in the Ending Theme, and you played it beautifully. Basically the first time it shows up in the game is a moment of hopelessness for being met with the stark truth about Spira and Zanarkand.. and in the Ending Theme, it's a happier tone, more hopeful for the future. Final Fantasy X is one of the games in the franchise with the darkest story, everthing revolves around the idea of death and curses... and the sound track is really fantastic. By the way, I don't know if it's a dress or a skirt you're wearing in this video, but it looks beautiful!
