I love to see you making good use of all the little features on the Arc frames that were discussed and debated for so long. You’ve even found some tweaks that I don’t think were even part of the design scope (using wheel diameter and axle to fine-tune the front rocker), which is really exciting to see! More than any other frame, people really seem to be making the CS their own. I was also glad to see that you found some of your assumptions about five wheel frames challenged as you tested these. I’ve only skated the CS in its default rocker configuration with the frame dead-center, but I’ve skated it a lot. I haven’t had that tiny triskate + trick wheel feeling and my wheel wear is consistent with my other five wheel frames (most to least wear going from front to back). I’m sure that if I went to a stronger rocker I’d start to feel and see those things though.

The interesting thing is with max rocker i still don’t FEEL like a 3+1+1 configuration, it seems very fluid from front to back to me… probably because of the length and small wheelbases… but when I look at the wheel wear it’s evident. Thanks for watching 🙂 always good to have your thoughts

Nice analysis! I was able to get a pair of Arc CS earlier this month and I absolutely love them! They are insanely fun at the skating rink! 11/10 Your video makes me want to experiment a little more with the different rocker settings; I set mine to silver down but haven’t tried any other rocker settings yet

Would definitely recommend it, and playing with the forward-backward placement. Both can really fine tune how they feel

Great breakdown. I appreciate the perspective as I get further into testing these. I'm gonna try some of the configurations you mentioned here and see what my experience with them is. I definitely appreciate when a frame provides so many options because of the nature of the "one size fits all" mentality that is pretty well built into any scene that uses a modular mount skate. I'll really be interested to know if we come to similar conclusions being we wear the same size skate.

I would agree that for anyone who skates a lot, experimenting with different frame sizes but keeping your wheel size the same is worthwhile. I flip between a 4x84mm and 4x90mm frame and have used all sorts of wheels on them, usually one size down from the max size so 80mm on the 84’s and 84mm on the 90s.

It really depends on your foot length and type of skating I think. I’m at MP 29.0 and I love the 4x90mm frame and 84mm wheels for skating on the street. I like to double push, I don’t do many tricks and I love to skate fast. But you should go with what feels right for you.

I've had endless 100/110s and I like them just fine, I have some trinity 90s on my doops, but I'll be sticking with me wizard frames. I think you're gonna really dig the ARCs for your style.

Thanks a lot for the review! I wanted to buy them for slalom, but still unsure. I currently use FR freestyle frames (72/84) and enjoying how maneuverable they are, even compared to 4x80 frames. Doing flatland on the side with the regular arc frames made me fall in love with the longer wheel base and I wondered how arc cs with the biggest rockering option would do on cones. Do you think the three center wheels (68-76-68) have enough rocker to do slalom? (One footed spins around cones for example) PS. The frames look insanely good on FRs!
@CityBlades
@CityBlades Жыл бұрын
Probably, certainly when they’re broken in a bit… but for slalom I’d be concerned about the length knocking over cones and such. I guess on the normal arcs if you find yourself saying “if this was just a little shorter and a little more maneuverable it’d be perfect” the CS would do the job

Thanks a lot for the quick reply! :) you cleared a lot of things for me. I think I’ll probably get them, if they are bad for slalom, I’d still have a great 5 wheel 165 frame.

Ha, great! I bought myself the ARC for Christmas. Glad I made the right choice. 🙂

Interesting that you moved the frames back. I always felt a bit off trying to do backward 3 turns on my Arc CS, but I mainly chalked that up to lack of experience rather than the frame. Not really good at them on a banana rocker or ice skates either.

We talking the lifty sort or the edge sort? How are your backward power pulls and consecutive edges?

Yeah I've been thinking of buying the Arc frame, and asked Brad from endless if he had any thoughts on whether I should go for the Arc CS frame, or the Arc, (my size is EU40 or UK6, or 250 mm) and he said Arc, and seemed very definite about it. Exclamation mark and everything. I thought the CS was meant to be for small sizes, Arc for middle, ES for the bigfoot skaters?
@CityBlades
@CityBlades Жыл бұрын
Well I’m sure his recommendation was a function of type of skating as much as foot size… 76’s and 84’s will be better for skating around than the 68/76 on the CS for sure
@Johro66
@Johro66 Жыл бұрын
@@CityBlades I'd rather 80's than 84's.. I'm thinking smaller is better because I've had my legs injured many years ago, and I tend to supinate, and the bigger the wheels and the higher the stance, the worse my supination, I find I'm most stable as regards pronation/supination on my smaller wheel setups. There's a lot to be said for a low ride height.
@CityBlades
@CityBlades Жыл бұрын
@@Johro66 yeah for sure, do you, just saying I think conventional logic is “arc for skating around and some moves, CS for moves and some skating around”
@Johro66

By the way, 👌🏼on setting the frame back, I feel that too, I find that with a lot of the longer frames doing any kind of toe roll or spin feels waaaaay off, shifts your center of gravity all wrong. I gonna maybe get back on my first pair of skates for a while, just the flat 4x80, it seems to me to be the most comfortable and agile all rounder when it's developed that natural rocker

Great review :) Would you say these frames feel really different compared to a 4x80 2mm rocker setup when doing tricks?
@CityBlades

Quite different, would take a session or two to get used to
@SaccoBelmonte

@@CityBlades Would they feel closer to an ice blade? I think 4x80 is close already. I'm trying to figure out if it is worth compared to 4x80 since I have sooo many 80mm wheels I'm not sure I wanna jump yet into another set of sizes, I gotta use all hose 80mm wheels hehe, I doubt I could even sell them easily.
@CityBlades
@CityBlades 10 ай бұрын
@@SaccoBelmonte ehh yes and no? It’s hard to explain… more similar in curvature and the extra length in the back, but there’s extra room in the front too that makes it quite different
@SaccoBelmonte
@SaccoBelmonte 10 ай бұрын
@ades Ok. Hmm.. I think they probably feel like 4x80 but with the extra wizard "whip" because the wheelbase is a bit longer and having the pivot wheel in the middle plus the short wheel separation so transitions happen more easily? I guess even more nimble than a 4x80 setup. Closer to ice. I'll get some of them later on when I can justify them because I'm pretty happy with 4x80 as a good all-round setup + the drawers of 80mm that I have to go through. 🤣 I also have a set of rockin 580 and the whip is definitely real.
