The crystal in the vaulters intro that bears their mark is the research crystal from Dungeon Of The Endless. The subtle connections are something I love about this series.

I'm happy that at least a few Broken Lords made it out of Auriga ok, canonically. They are by far my favourite faction!

Too bad in canon only the Vaulters made it out of Auriga before it turned into an ice cube killing off the rest of the factions...

It has its elements, like the economy system and it refers to the endless ( gods here, enigmatic acient race in ES ) and in Endless space there is an anomaly planet called auriga, but if its the same univers ? Hardly, endless legend has magic, orcs, centaurs, hydras and a lot more fantasy elements to it

LegionnaireScout "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic." - Arthur C. Clarke Besides, even in Endless Space, Dust allowed for some seemingly magical stuff. This was mostly prevalent in hero abilities.
@TheJaranuJanic9 жыл бұрын
LegionnaireScout Its absoulutely the same universe. You it has "orcs and centaurs" and what? In a sci-fi universe, those would be called Aliens. The tone of Endless Legend is Fantasy, but it is in the same universe as Endless Space and Dungeon of the Endless. Its a universe of both Fantasy AND Sci-fi, which is why I love it.
@vitorion0079 жыл бұрын
The universe is the same. Then someone would say "but how can sci-fi and fantasy coexist?". Well, as far as I know, pretty much all of "magic" of Endless Legend is caused by Dust, and in Endless Space's lore, it is explained that Dust, having been created by an ancient and advanced alien civilization called the Endless, is nothing more than an advanced mass of nanocomputers and nanomachines, which can alter pretty much everything around them, including living beings, which can gain superpowers ("magic") when exposed to the Dust. This substance, having nanocomputers, can also give intelligence to unintelligent machines or improve computers and the like. As John Doe said above with Arthur C. Clarke's quote, "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic". Also, after seeing the Vaulters' intro, it is pretty clear that they were a technologically advanced human civilization that came from space and then simply forgot their origins. This is made clear in Dungeon of the Endless, a prequel to Endless Legend, in which a ship crashes deep into the surface of Auriga, and the survivors, being trapped under the surface, become the Vaulters.

Why are the most asian factions: Ardent mages and hissho from the endless space always portrayed as such bloodthirsty sadistic douchbags....
@simonbarabash21519 жыл бұрын
+hexlollipop The hissho are partially based on samurai, and are highly warlike. But the ardent mages pain obsession is how they use thier magic. They inflict the pain on themselves and are no more brutal than other human factions.
@marsmanofspace6 жыл бұрын
Ardent Mages seem not entirely asian, their art seems pretty euro-centric, while the Merchant dudes are definitely asian/steppes/russians. The Hissho get their honor and 'For the Greater Good' mentality from their inspiration by Samurai, but the violent parts of their culture are definitely partially Aztec. Their old cults and culture are very much influenced by Central American civilizations- particularly the Aztec as mentioned. I mean, they have a repeatable construction that makes a planet perform blood sacrifices to the sun god. Even with the latter influence, let us not forget that Japan, especially the feudal Japan that influenced the Hissho, was not anything resembling a pacificist land; As much as it dressed up pretty and clean, it was a warrior culture through and through, venerating combat and death in battle, and encouraging suicide as a method to subvert embarassment on your family.
