CHILLLSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. So poignant, Donna's daughter opening up the song, then singing with her mom, with such power!!. AND then the rest of the fam comes out. Rest in peace Donna Summer, at home with the Lord. Your going home took a piece, of so many of us, with you. Thank you for showing me what true greatness looked like.

Was that some of her family? She does thank daughter Mimi and her nephews & neices in the closing credits. I thought the folk at the end was her band and the acts (e.g.Musical Youth) who'd played on the set-list that night?

Because they dressed the backing singers as black diner 'waitresses' and there was some very young children, I thought she'd portrayed the final stage as "normal, average everyone". That was just my first, and only, impression. ymmv? 👍 🙂 Cheers 👍 P. S. If you reply (again) I'll end up re-watching the credits again slowly. 🙄 🙂

A very nice cover of Jon Anderson's song he wrote with Vangelis. She takes some poetic license by adding scripture but considering Jon created the lyrics on the spot as he was singing the spiritual origins are pretty clear. Checkout Todmobile's version with Jon Anderson himself singing.

So well said you made me cry. I was a very defiant precocious confused boy of 13 in the tumultuous throws of puberty desperately needing to know why I wasn't like most of the other boys and praying to God almighty the things my classmates were calling me behind my.back were not, could not be true. I loved Donna so much in the movie, "Thank God It's Friday", that I almost forgot John Travolta jn, Saturday Night Fever", completely. My Mother crossed her fingers and bought me the double set albumin collection of ON THE RADIO even though it had "that vulgar song" on it. "But at least it has that nice disco duet with Barbra Streisand on there. Now that's a woman that can sing O'Leary", and I won't bore you with the diatribe or soliloquy that accompanied about having to turn off Barbra's Mic and amplifier so she didn't drown Donna out. Wouldn't have carried it that far if I didn't want to see who at this point can tell me if they can guess in which direction my sexual identity went, haha. So my crush on Donna Sumner crushed me when my new peer group turned against her for her nerve to speak what was actually said out of love, I later in life came to realize. Love for our creator and love for the fans that adored her, wishing she could save us from what she felt would be permanent separation from the greatest love ever. She couldn't hate the thought of that and I worry it crushed her when her fans turned on her much more painfully than her devotion to what she believed and was taught to believe crushed Charles Emerson Riley or Paul Lynd. I never turned on you Donna but I AM ashamed to say I didn't play her songs at the decibel my neighbours had become accustomed to hearing them. Eh, enough mistakes have been made by all and all is forgiven and that's that. Donna's talent WILL always be remembered in my heart, my story, and yes I pray as well here on u-tube. I'm 52 yrs old and proud to say this Gay man's current neighbours can hear Donna Summers belt out Hot Stuff and State of.... at the same decibel my old ones did or louder with my hearing going. My love and prayers to her family and those closest to her that shall always know the pain of losing her including those in my own LGBT community who foolishly have yet to forgive her just as I'm sure she would have it herself had she not received her glory before we were able to let her go.

I saw this concert many times on HBO as a child and remember thinking how beautiful she and her daughter were. Cool song!

This was just what I needed today. I miss live music. Donna is one of my greatest regrets. I never got to see her live.
