Love this video. I have played it about 20 times. Even though the trail is totally different than the desert I live in, I love the way it depicts the relationship between rider and horse.

Hey, This is the best portrait of endurance I have seen out there. Really good!!! thanks for posting it!
@jett88814 жыл бұрын
Any horse can do endurance- it just depends on how fast or where you want to finish- remember, the endurance motto is: "To finish is to Win" It's a sport that allows more breeds than I believe any other type of race/competition. They have various disances from LD's (limited distance) of 25 miles, to 50 milers, to 100 milers to multi day rides. It's a sport that accomodates MANY!! It's about the ride, the relationship, and the responsiblity of the partnership. So get out there! I LOVE it!!

Coming from a endurance rider the most rewarding thing that you can get is to finish and of all the footage the best parts were the end and were the two women were talking to their horses. That is what's it all about, the bond and love between horse and rider. Why there is only Arabs?? They are bred to do endurance racing!! :)

Endurance horses are so fun to ride, but the bad thing is no matter what happens you can never take their spazzy-edge off before you ride you just have to get on and hope the horse isn't crazy.

I am going to my first 25 mile ride at Old Dominion in less than a week. Just hoping my horse and I hold up well- I have done show jumping at a pretty high level and have dabbled in most equestrian sports, but this one seems the most intense! Wish me luck!

@JoeJB27 Yes. Other breeds can complete. Arabians commonly do the best, but the motto is "To Finish Is To Win." My horse and I have completed two LD (30 mile) rides and he's half QH and Half Andalusion. (He looks like the opposite of an Arab). We didn't win, but we finished which is more important. If your horse is a stocky QH, I was reading there are certain issues you have to be careful to avoid with overheating because of the thick muscle but if your horse is healthy, why not try it?

I do endurance riding. My mare is a 13 hand chestnut arabian. I actually have the colored synthetic tack but i often lower the tone a bit at rides. my favourite thing to do is go out pn the ride and when i see all the pros with their big greys and stuff ill either ask annie for herAMAZING extended trot which is the speed of a galloping 16 hand cob and wave as i go by or i see them flouncing along and i charge up wooping with long reins and then as i go past i bring annioe into trot, wave then go

@101Jazzer Arabians are know for their hardiness, stamina, and endurance. However, I've found out that there are more Missiouri Foxtrotters winning than any other breed.

@horsekid11968 I guess anyone who runs a marathon is stressed too. These horses have to be in great shape. Trust me, endurance horses have to love what they do or else they get to vet check points and refuse to leave. The riders have to be in as good shape or you can't finish the ride, much less your horse. The hours training fine tunes your relationship with your horse as you need him and he needs you. My horse has told me when he's done enough for the day, but often I quit first.

we compete in endurance as a team in australia , it is the only horse sport with so many hours and the most amazing rides. try endurance , you'll love it even more when your an open rider and you can go as fast as you want.
@littlebritton113 жыл бұрын
@horsekid11968 I don't see a single stressed horse in that vid. All I see are fit, happy horses ridden in tune by their riders. If you want to see stressed horses, can I suggest you visit your local BSJA meeting, and witness the gadgets used to tie horses down whilst they try to stretch over a fence, or a dressage yard where the charges are deemed to valueable to even be allowed free turnout.

@Weaponsmaster8595 Not all horse have a "spazzy-edge" to them- my mare True- who races many endurance events and usually places top 10- is not edgy at all- nothing- no pulling and very well behaved- but the horses do get excited as they are herd oriented and want to go/stay w/ the group- the starts are my favorite part! Maybe more group riding would help your horse take that edge off it??
@EPRFowler15 жыл бұрын

The owner of the barn told me to put my horse in endurance bvecause hes the type that you can ride all day(have done with small breaks for lunch and play in the creek) and I dont care if I win just for the fun of it. you know. he aslo would make a good cross country jumper as well.(said by trainer and previous owner and barn owner)

@jett888 I know around here there are more foxtrotters and I get the awards booklet for NATRC and ACTHA. In them foxtrotters out number anyother breed, and that's since 1989. I don't know about AERC that's a different thing than the others. But yea you're right they're both good at it. :)
@jett88814 жыл бұрын
@wolfsvain2 I don't think your moment about Missiouri foxtrotters winning than any other breed is correct? Check out the AERC results, FEI- i think arabians are the dominant breed- but either way- they are both good for it

@TheKillerz96 I don't know if there is an "Endurance Riding section" probably just under sports or animals section is your best bet- anybody wanting to see those, would simply search "endurance riding" good luck!
@jett88814 жыл бұрын
@wolfsvain- when you said the Foxtrotters winning than any other breed- snce this is an ENDURANCE video- i was assuming you were talking about winning at Endurance- the Arab wins the majority of the Endurance races- the ACTHA and Natrc- aren't "Endurance" those are most trail riding/grading types of events.
