However if you look the Steam reviews it almost has the same review number as peak player and not everyone writes a review, I did but I know many do not. I would like to hear the exact numbers sold, it still did better than Concord and Dustborn and is a cheap remaster so is a W regardless I assume not as big of a W as the other games I mentioned above. My personal game of the year could actually be Metaphor Re Fantazio what is coming up soon but so far I am in love with Black Myth Wukong and I hope Stellar Blade comes to PC I would like to buy it and also of course for the MODS.

@@Official_RetroMania Despite the 6-8 hours of gametime, it was always meant to be a game replayed to 100% on - get every achievement, unlock every combo, buy every outfit, etc. The only criticism I saw with it was the change/removal of the original soundtrack, but the game itself is just as it appears from back then minus the songs. A shame though, would have been a 10/10 otherwise. I still love it of course!

My partner brings up a point for every fantasy game that has elves. Because often there's an elf in promos somewhere who is black. He always says, "How are there black elves?" not because he's racist but because games don't give any reason for their existence. For example, in Guild Wars 2, they introduced an expansion that took place in a desert region and added African character customisations along with it. All of a sudden, you have people who "came" from that part of the world where their complection makes sense. That gave characters in game and player ones actual tie into the world setting and fantasy. And I find that interesting because we want something we feel we can relate to, some form of representation, but there's no follow-up in-games that gives this representation a sense of belonging in the world. Often times its just that 4th wall inclusion for the sake of "we are diverse and supportive"

THAT is not a Dragon Age game. Dragon Age was introduced as "dark fantasy". Nothing about this is "dark". its a mix of random fantasy aka dnd, elden ring and some telltale game (at least the visuals seem that way). Dragonage 4 was thrown under the bus when Anthem wasnt successful at first, so that the developers could concentrate on saving anthem. but once they saw the game is beyond saving, they went back and started dragonage 4 from scratch. now we have a woke game whose trailers show that it has nothing to do with the known lore and world and has basically the same plot inquisition had. Ive read every book and comic of DA. Anyone who has eyes can see, that "game journalists" try freakin hard to push the game, because they KNOW gamers wont like it unless they tell them constantly that they should like it. And whenever i see "game journalists" all try to push the same idea, im completely opposed to it.

I haven't played any of the dragon age games. I thought it was fantasy and magic and such? So, you can be stabbed, burned, cut, beaten, and healed from an inch of death with not have any lasting effects or scars, heck. I would bet that after being burned and healing up, your character still has hair. But for some reason scars on your chest are not healable? Again, I haven't played the series, so are there a lot of modern type of hospitals and surgeons around that would do that type of surgery and are they special as in what they do can't be impacted by magic? I didn't notice any tech like things in the videos, so I am confused on how it would fit at all in the game world.

Fun fact: While I didn't like DA:I and Krem character in particular due to how on the nose this character was with the pandering - Even said Krem said thing like that those like him simply go through magic to change their gender and said magic does it 100%. Meaning, if someone wants to become a woman they will become 100% a woman through the magic. Krem doesn't do it simply because Krem isn't too trusting of magic, and he also doesn't fancy the other idea of messing up with his body (said surgery). By the way, Krem comes from Tevinter (the very place this crap takes place in). Of course, that requires actually understanding the franchise or at least researching it thoroughly. Which these people never do. Because they're for the most part not nerds or genuine fans. They're activists, tourists, normies and soulless corporates. Or raging narcissists wanting to remake the franchise in their own image and shoe-horn self-inserts and their own beliefs in, thus destroying it. Dragon Age in particular would not have many black people in particular so long as it takes place in Thedas. You'd have to go further north for that, since Tevinter people are more along the lines of mediterranean people. Tevinter is after all an analogy for the Roman empire, if it was a magocracy. And elves and dwarves, who are magical beings based on northern european folklore and myth (not to mention that dwarves are a subterranean race; no reason for them to evolve heavy pigmentation) would not be black. I'm not saying that you can't create some new IP were that is the case, but you'd have to provide some lore reason that makes sense in-universe for that to not thoroughly break immersion. And, for the aforementioned reason, even that would be kind of jarring regardless. Same thing applies across the board. I don't want to see white or black tengu and I don't want to see white or asian were-hyenas (I forget what they're called in african folklore. They're badass, though.)

It's actually based more on Medieval Western and Central European fantasy for the most part, essentially Britain and Germany in the middle ages. There are games like the Witcher series that are based on Central and Eastern Europe as well as Slavic legends, or games that are specifically based on Norse mythology and Northern European Scandinavian lore, but most of what you know as "Western fantasy" is basically British and Germanic Medieval influenced settings and lore.

That's why I'm skeptical about preorder numbers. We learned over a decade ago not to preorder games due to bait and switch, day of release patches that gut the game (or day one DLC later packaged into the game largely for free). But I don't think studios are necessarily trying to commit seppuku. I think many of these projects have been in the pipeline since before the market screamed "ENOUGH!". People don't realize how much courage (and accounting creativity) it took for WB to kill Batgirl before it released (and using it to offset the Discovery merger's obscene HP/Compaq-like costs). I bet they wish they had done that with Suicide Squad as well. Meanwhile, the studios that are actually *_targeting the audience that actually buys games_* are looking like Scrooge McDuck, swimming in their vaults full of money. Game Science is already plotting three games funded largely from the profits from BMW, and none of them are likely to be woke trash like the West is mass producing. And eventually, when the budgets get tighter, these studios will quietly start laying off their DEI hires (like Meta did in late 2022, getting rid of a lot of "product managers" who had neither a product nor a team to manage).

The counterargument is that Dragon Age has a huge fanbase, so they'll prop the game up. - To that, I agree that Dragon Age has a huge fanbase - from 15 YEARS AGO! We're not talking about stupid kids, we're talking about adults - at least 30-years-old in the majority of cases. You have to realize that the people at Bioware that made all of our favorite games, are long gone from the company. Corinne Busche is in charge and has filled the staff/vacancies with activists just like him. He is a mental case with a staff of activist mental cases and any of our favorite games that they touch, will turn out this way. You should HOPE Bioware shuts down so our beloved games can go to other studios that will do them justice.... but by no means hope that THIS version of Bioware survives. Them making the next Mass Effect game is a nightmare for me and i hope they are bankrupt long before that happens.

I agree 150%. It's my position too, since Dragon Age 2 horrible game with a very boring feel to it, unpleasing script and decor, just to get rid of the ancient combat system for a new real time. While Origins human male character was outstanding, starting in our castle with our father, mother, brother, I mean I was already enjoying the dicussion and choices, the first traitor already in our face. Duncan was there to hire us with the Grey Warden, also there is our dog that could already discovered some secret items, and already some ''romance'' easy to miss. Then the shocking event that night, very immersive. And it was just the introduction...

Well said. As a mage lover, I felt every game after Origins reduced mages options more and more, removing spells and limiting stuff as potions now being on cooldown, and very limited. Choose a weapon type and you're stuck with it. I remember my character in Origins looking like a badly dressed peasant after fleeing the Circle, and he had no weapon that could reveal him as a mage. But boy, when he started blasting fireballs, crushing prison, tempest and curse of mortality upon hordes of enemies, I felt unstoppable. God, what I wouldn't give for DAO with slightly improved graphics on PS5.

What bothers me is a lot of the KZbinrs i watch that went to that play test conference thing haven't said a word about it. Instead many said "i enjoyed the game!" "I was pleasantly surprised!". Many contradicting the other like some saying "the dialogue wasn't very strong" but another guy saying "i was drawn in, it captivated me". Even if the game isn't dog shit which I'm sure it is, they NEVER mentioned the top scars or the nerf on the female form. That tells me all i need to know

My shock when i find people defending . What they dont seem to understand if certain things present in a game its liable to be trash. Like Elden Ring has Body Type A and B but its good. But nowadays stuff like that is liable to be failure. Especially Top Surgery options. Knowing people, if they could be without it they would. Putting it in the game is basis to break game immersion.

I'm actually writing a dark fantasy series myself. Two books in, with the third in the works. I had been wanting to for a long time, but what kept me from starting was the crowded market. Kind of ironic that now that I started, suddenly everything from LotR, 40k, Star Wars, Marvel, and even video games has been turned on their heads to where people are actively looking for new shit rather than old shit since old shit is just... Shit now. Much like the Rippaverse, if you create an alternative in today's market, you'll probably succeed because the competition keeps shooting themselves. So if any of you out there have a dream/idea in the creative market, go for it. Side note, I haven't published my books yet. I plan on finishing the series first and then periodically releasing them. I learned not to pull a George R. R. Martin.

Hi, I've been working in publishing for a few years now. I guarantee you, if you works are "anti-woke" they probably won't get mainstream publishing because a) your market is thinner, b) you yourself will be viewed as a liability (see how JKR effectively made it so nobody wants to publish her books anymore) and c) "anti-woke" books are always too wrapped up in ideology to be good, so called "woke" books often just have minorities exist. In short, you probably don't have much of a chance unless you're planning on taking the smaller amount of money from self publishing. Hope this helps!
